What's with all the Gen 2 CPU models with 320GB HDDs at the moment? It don't make no sense.

    • i agree……but then, maybe ppl might be buying it and swaping it with another bigger HDD (if purchased cheaper). That might work out cheaper then going for a 750GB or 640GB when the price is around $200 more.

But …787, I think this is a good price already for a i7.

Makes perfect sense to me. For a lot of people a laptop is a second computer and doesn't need to store all of your documents on it. That plus easily purchased and used USB storage makes the inbuilt HDD fairly insignificant. I'm highly likely to swap out my 2.5inch SATA laptop drive for a much smaller SSD as soon as it leaves its warranty period.

      • I was more making the point that the price difference between a 320GB drive and a 640GB drive to the manufacturer is approximately two fifths of fuck all. To you or I just going down to MSY the price difference a 320GB and 500GB is $3. Imagine the difference at the "I'll only take 10,000 units this week, business has been slow" level.

  • Just picked one of these up this morning, OW will price match with the usual 5% discount bringing it under $750. Small HDD but a whole lot of laptop for under $750.

    • At least one OW had a 1st gen i7-based Acer laptop, w/ 4 GB RAM & 500 GB for $741 this week.

Of course, first gen i7 could be a deal killer for that one.

  • I got a Lenovo e420 in the last sale but this is a bloody good price point especially with the Officeworks pricematch.

  • How easy/expensive is to exchange the HDD of a laptop for a bigger one?

    • If it storage you want then go external 2TB or so.

  • i keep hearing hp dv6's have overheating problems..anyone know if this model is prone to the same problems?

    • My DV6 (C2D) is fine. Heaps better than my Asus I5 in many ways!
