  • +1

Last time I signed up for Prime I got a $10 credit. I wonder if I'm eligible again?

    • +1

Does anyone know of prime is transferrable across countries?

So if you're a prime member overseas do you get the benefits here and vice versa?

      • +1

        it is not.

  • +1

I am on prime trial which is ending today. Any idea if this will be applicable if I cancel my subscription now and opt in for a paid one with same account.

    • +2

Just chat with them. I did and they happily added it to my account

      • +2

        Thanks Mate.

      • +1

is this only for paid subscription, or free trial as well

      • +1

I was in the same boat, my 1-month trial was about to expire but they refused to apply this offer to me even for signing onto 12 months of Prime, so I cancelled and they refunded my $59.

  • +7

Where are you guys reading abt this credit promotion on the web page? can't find any mention of it

    • +2

Me neither. How to find if we're targeted? Just login to our Amazon account and it'd show in the main page?

      • This seems to be targeted for those who have either had a trial or a paid subscription but have cancelled and not renewed

  • Thanks OP.
Just got it added to my account via live chat

    Nice Xmas present from Amazon

    • +1

How ?? what do u say???

      • Just copy paste the t&c and ask nicely if they can add it for you

        • +2

i chatted and he said its targetted for new signup but without asking estended my amazon trial for a month. got something atleast :)

          • +1

@LPlatterOZ: I clicked a link to extend mine by a month when I went to cancel. Not only did they charge me early, but the extension didn't happen and they've charged me postage for an order I used during my "free" trial.

        • +1

I asked nicely and they wouldn't add it. Oh well.

Will only signup when I am "targetted" I guess.

    • +1

I just signed up to Prime 1/2 hr ago. Will this work on live chat?

      • Worth a try. You have nothing to loose

        • +2

Didn't work, but told to wait for an email within 24 hrs. Thanks for posting this, OP!

  • This seems to be targeted for those who have either had a trial or a paid subscription but have cancelled and not renewed

    • +2

My wife has a trial account about to expire and I have an expired account, both didn't receive the offer

      • +1

I have a trial account about to expire too, spoke to chat and they said I'm ineligible as trial is still active. But they offered me a $10 promotional certificate, without having to sign up for the prime. :D

      • +1

Same here, I wasn't offered this.

  • +4

On 24 December 2019, the Prime team will send a promo email to 130,000 customers offering $20 shopping credit in their Amazon AU account if they sign up for Prime. The emails target customers who are not eligible for a Prime Free Trial as they are former Prime members (Free Trial or Paid Members).
The entry period for the promotion will run from 12:01 AM (AEST) on 24 December 2019 until 11:59 PM (AEST) on 28 December 2019.

Tried via web chat as recommended by @easternculture - but did not work.

    • +1

same here, tried but didn't work. Advised to wait for an email

      • +3

tried again, same - not eligible. Damn it, I thought they would be like Telstra :P

    • +4

Yeah same, all I get is "Hope you understand". I understand clearly I will not renew it next time and hope Amazon understand too!

  • +1

Is this an offer via email? Clicking the link didn’t seem to see the offer.

  • +2

Prime is great, especially for the price. Streaming service is not as good as others, but has enough decent stuff on it to make it useful. The free postage is excellent too.

The last 2 years I have got 40% of my prime membership back on Amex credits so net cost around $3 per month.

    • +8

Agreed. Prime is a much better product than ebay plus.

      • -4

it is a service not a product

  • +1

Mine expired last week. Didn't sign up right away at full price and wanted to wait for an offer like this to lure me back. I wasn't targeted.

Had a live chat. Told them about this offer and asked if I were eligible.

They said I am not.. And wanted to check what can be done..

Gets back and says she added $40 promotional credit to my account. No minimum spend.

Best part? Didn't care if I signed up to Prime again!

    • Which operator was it

      • +1

        Alison

    • +1

How do you refer to this offer when on chat to amazon? just say you heard there's a promo going around? I can't even see a link to the offer this refers to.

      • All is said was this :

I believe there is a Prime signup offer - Get $20 Credit When You Signup to Amazon Prime (Min Spend $30 Use within 14 Days)
        Am I eligible for this?

  • +1

I had a great experience with Amazon today. Ordered a kindle and cover on Friday and it got delivered today. Then I found a promo code to take $20 off the price, expired Friday, but I didn't apply the code. Spoke to them and they gave me a refund (gift card as I paid with gift card).

Think this is fair. So I've got a kindle paperwhite for $149 and a cover for $30!(Half price).

  • +1

    How do i live chat?

  • +2

If I receive the email, I'd be happy to pay for Prime for a year. If I don't receive the email, I will keep registering email address variants such as [email protected], [email protected] etc each time my prime trial expires.

    • +1

You need to use the + trick. Whatever text between firstnamelastname and the @ symbol don't get counted when an email is sent to gmail. My current amazon account is [email protected]
Makes it easier to filter emails and see where the spam comes from.

    • Just wondering will they find out?

Im thinking of doing this but afraid with same phone number and address they would know and ban my account

    • I stopped Prime payment mid Dec and then saw this post. Rejoin this morning and within minutes received the email. Don't need to wait for 24 hrs

  • +2

My prime membership expired and the guy on the chat helped out.

    Use this link https://www.amazon.com.au/gp/help/customer/contact-us/ref=cu…
Scroll down to Section 2 and select manage or cancel prime membership from the dropdown
    and select a chat option.

  • +1

Got the email few minutes ago (had trial ended earlier this month). Signed up and got the email for $20 right away. Thanks

  • +1

Even better if you can stack it with this deal: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/469123

  • +1

Chat was useless, just got told that I had to have received the email.

  • +1

Live chat honoured it. Thanks OP!

    • +1

What did you say? I just keep getting copy paste bullshit from them and asking if I received the email.

  • +3

This appears to be 'NOT TARGETED'. From the looks of it anyone who had previously used up their free 30 day trial and is not currently a Prime member should be automatically eligible. I had not received any such email nor got onto any chat but automatically got the $20 credit email as soon as I paid for the prime membership. Hope this info helps :)

    • +1

Can confirm this. Signed up and got the $20 credit immediately via email. Never received the targeted email.

    • +1

      May look like it.

    • +2

I signed up, yet I haven't received the $20. The offer should be targeted.

  • +1

Currently on a free trial, tried asking live chat if I was eligible, they said was only available to non-prime members. I asked if I cancelled the trial, whether I would be eligible, but they said they didn’t know.

  • +1

Let us not wallow in the valley of despair. I say to you today, my friends, that in spite of the difficulties and frustrations of the moment, I still have a dream.

I have a dream that one day Amazon will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed - we hold these truths to be self-evident: that all Prime members are created equal.

And when this happens, when we allow freedom and equality to ring, when we let it ring from every state and every territory, we'll finally be able to join hands and sing in the words of old: "Free at last! Free at last! thank Bezos, we are free at last!"

  • +1

I receieved no email, but decided to sign up anyway. No voucher was given but at least I have used my Amex offer.

    • +1

      Should wait for 24 hrs

  • +1

Already a Prime member and asked customer service if they could apply the credit and they applied a $15 complimentary credit. Just emailed them and credit applied super quickly.

  • +1

Just chatted with CS, they said everyone is eligible, I just need to sign up and I will get the $20 voucher in 24 hours.

  • +1

I haven't gotten an email yet after 24hrs, this is what CS said when I emailed

"I've looked into the the details and found that this Promotion is for the customers who are invited for it, if you have received an email asking for you to subscribe for Prime Membership, you should be able to get the AU$ 20 Promotional Credit that could be applied for an order that is sold AND shipped by amazon.com.au, which is AU$ 30 or more"

    • +1

I'm afraid to inform you that this offer is applicable for limited customers who are former prime subscribers and who are not eligible for prime free trial. :(

  • +1

Just got the email at 7AM today. Had promotional emails disabled yesterday, and turned them back on. I've also only used the free trial and never subscribed till today. Email voucher came instantly after subscribing to Prime.

    • +1

Mind sharing which option is for promotional emails?
Can only find Amazon Prime updates/Daily Deals in Email Subscriptions?

      • +1

I had the tickbox that disabled all of them, so I just unticked.
Not sure if it was just coincidence though, or if my targeted email just came in a second wave-type thing.
It is 130 000 emails after all =/

  • +1

I went on live chat CS and said it was only for old accounts

  • +1

Some people say they contacted CS to see if they could get a promotion. Maybe it depends on what issue (e.g something else > other issue) you put it in because different people probably take care of the issue in different types of issues

  • +1

Canceled Prime yesterday + got refund since I hadn't used it this month.

Just asked CS now, this is what they said:

We have a separate team for prime who are working on this and sending out promotions. However the emails are being sent till 28th December. I request you to please wait till 28th December. And you should receive the email.

I then asked if they could just add the $20 credit and I subscribe now, and they said they would make an exception and add the $20 now!

Didn't even have to subscribe as the icing on the cake!

    • +1

What options did you choose for chat and who did you speak to. I'm sick of getting stingy reps with nothing but a script to follow.

    • +1

yeah. i tried 4 different cs and get same response lol…

  • +1

Surprised chat was helpful for so many people.

My annual prime subscription just finished last week, didn't get email. Went to live chat as suggested but the operater refused outright and even said it is against policy to do it. I needed to wait for email. Thought I would have been their prime targeted group of customers since I was a member for a year and membership just expired so maybe given exception but no such treatment.

    • +2

Same. I asked something similar, but they refused.
They are very stingy now compared b4. My account hasn’t been locked since this morning after ordered a gift card for the $10 credit. I did nothing unusual and been a prime member for a year. What they could do was just submitting a request to unlock my account and wait for 24 hours on Boxing Day. I even spoke to the supervisor. Not helpful. No credit for compensation at all. Very frustrated!

      • The usual helpful customer service is currently on leave thus we get the crappy one during this time, unfortunately. They may see an increase of bad feedback from the customer due to this

        • when my account was locked by them, they cancelled a few of my important orders as well which were placed the day before for $2 cashback bonus from Cashrewards and when the 12% cashback deal by Shopback just started on boxing day. when my account reinstated after 16 hours, i lost my cashback and chance of reordering due to out of stock because of the cancelling. I had been waiting for the 12% cashback to order stuff from Amazon, then got screwed. Customer service was very unhelpful and refused any compensation. I was happy with Amazon service, but not any more.

  • No email for me and no joy with chat , do Prime membership offers come up very often ?

  • From Amazon Rep via email:

"The offer is for the members who have subscribed for prime trial and cancelled subscription again without using the prime benefits and it is randomly sent out to a limited amount of people."
