Great phone. No wireless charging, but a huuuuge beautiful screen and awesome battery.

  • I just paid for this item, but the discounted price of $434 is not showing on my paypal transaction. What's up with that?

    • +2

It shows up as a coupon on the bottom of the receipt.

      • -2

Just doubled checked everything. Pretty annoying that it does that.

Contacted allphones and even they can't even see the actual price I paid on their end lol.

        • Contacted allphones and even they can't even see the actual price I paid on their end lol.

As far as allphones is concerned, you paid the price listed before any coupon.

  • A great price for this phone. I got it for $520 in July, but be aware a new A71 has just been announced with a better processor, gpu, and camera:

    https://www.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?idPhone1=9646&idPhone2…

    • I assume that's why all of the 20,30,50,70's Galaxy A series are dropping in prices with some good stock clearing specials.

  • Single SIM only for Australian version

    • -1

Hey, U sure it's so how Sim? Bit of a deal breaker if it is…

  • +1

    This or S8?

    • +2

This for screen and battery imo

      • better screen ? wow, really?

        • my gf says bigger = better. A70 packing a 6.7 incher.

          • @Top G: Aspirational. I guess you do need to upgrade from 4.3"

        • CPU and GPU are better on S8 and its water/dust proof.. this phone has a better screen and battery life is double. GPU and CPU are good enough for everything.

Dont drop it into water :)

          • @vid_ghost: bigger/larger does not mean better screen.

            • +1

@tempura: S8 gets HDR10, higher rez, gorilla glass 5 vs 3 and always on display but that's it.

Having a battery that lasts 14 hours of heavy use vs a battery that's only 6 hours with a screen thats 6.7" is a huge upgrade over 5.8"

              https://m.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?idPhone1=9646&idPhone2=8…

The S9 has the improved brightness OLED :) that looks more impressive. S10 is an even better panel the S8 panel is nothing special anymore.

  • Have chatted online with Samsung staff, S8 is water resistant, faster than A70. A70 got a larger screen.

    • +1

Water resistance is the only thing I really felt like I missed out on by buying this phone. Otherwise it's a total monster - twice as good a phone as I need.

I bought a Samsung A50 In April. Approx $350 in Singapore. My previous 4 phones were Xiaomi.
Used it for a few months, got frustrated, then purchased a Xiaomi Mi 9T for a similar price after GST TRS.
I found the A50 pretty average - battery life is poor and slow processor. Only positive I found is how lightweight and thin it is.
Those interested in the Samsung A series - do take the time to cross shop, especially with the Xiaomi range.

    • +3

      +1 for Xiaomi

    • +4

And how was the A70 since that is what this post is about?

      • The negs for his opinion is a bit harsh, I think he was trying to offer some insight into the Samsung A series.. even if it was in the model below

        • savage OzB crowd

        • +1

          A20 A30 and A50 are meh A70 in a class of it's own. I'm waiting for the A71

    • Which store gave you a tax invoice for the Xiaomi? MyMobile?

    • Got my wife the A50. Takes 5 taps to get the phone to register. Swapped for a new one, same thing. I love Samsung phones but in future will fork out for the S series.

    Thanks OP!
Just cancelled my TobyDeals order last night that I made a week ago but hadn't shipped. They cancelled and refunded straight away.
Was going to get it from Big W for $499 but this is even better!

  • $14.99 delivery sigh!

    • $0 with eBay Plus.

      • +1

        Now showing "FREE Standard Delivery"

        • Cant change it to Standard delivery. Keeps defaulting to Express.

      • Unfortunately, don’t have ebay plus and thanks to o/p for making it quite clear about free postage for ebay plus members.

  • The A70 Has the biggest screen from Samsung. Only surpassed by the Fold and Note 10+.

    • this mobile is not for men read: pocket

      • Everything is pocket sized if your arse is big enough

  • Damn… I paid $650 a month ago. X-mas sale made me crazy by %499 and this deal made me mad…lol
Anyway this phone makes most phones look baby and battery is fantastic with 25W charger.

    • RRP was 649 when it was released. Normally 520rish when it was on sale during mid of this year. Since Black Friday, it is under 500.

  • In terms of warranty issues, do you go via Samsung direct? Contacted Allphones?

    Edit:

Just found this in case it's helpful for others.

  • This or Moto G8 Plus?
My G4 Plus is just giving up…

  • This($434) or LG V40($498)?

    • +1

I was debating on the same thing. I decided on the A70. I appreciate the specs seemed better in the LG, but, phone wise, I prefer Samsung's to LG, preferred it was newer, prefer the screen and the camera seemed better from reviews. The LG'sdownfall that's often mentioned was the battery at 3300mAh. Meanwhile, the A70 has a monster battery with 25W fast charging. I'm also not a power user so felt the A70 would be more than enough for an upgrade (coming from a Pixel XL).

      Comparison:
      https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.gadgetsnow.com/page/amp_com…

      • Good logical thinking right there for yourself.

    • LG UI is bit outdated now, Samsung is the way to go

  • Hi, were you guys able to claim the 15% discount for this A70? When I tried to apply the code it says not valid.

  • this phone vs the huawei p30?

    • Depends what you want in a phone: https://www.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?idPhone1=9646&idPhone2=9530#diff-,,*

  • Don't know why, but eBay coupon codes, namely these 15% off ones, have never worked for me :(
