Hi Ozbargain!

This time we've got something new to share with you… A very cheap balanced armature earphone!
Balanced armature drivers are quite expensive and are usually reserved for professional In Ear Monitors that are priced at $100+
It's called the FEELS Pro900 and it's designed and made in Korea (usually better quality than China), the build quality is very impressive.

What's even more surprising is that it has a decent amount of bass, unlike most single armature earphones out there. To top it off the isolation and comfort is top notch!
It's brand new so not many reviews have come up yet… but a few people's tried it here:

To use the coupon code go to your cart and there will be a coupon code field on the left hand side.

We're so confident in these that we're giving you a 14-day guarantee.
If you're unhappy with it for the price you paid, let us know and we'll refund your money minus a small fee.

How good is that?

P.S. These have a moderate amount of bass. If you love your bass the Hippo VB is back in stock now.

      • had the same problem with my old mobile->> use an extension 3.5mm cord and all solved :))

@Jaben. Just a heads up. The 'add coupon' section text and box on your site are the same colour. So you have to highlight the text in order to read it.

    • Thanks so much for that!
I didn't know that field was available, I checked the coupon using the "coupon code" field on the left of the shopping cart.
Will hopefully figure out how to fix it soon!

just bought a pair due mainly to your feedback, nice work

  • Just wondering if you can post up the Frequency Response graph. Although it's not a sure fire way to know how well a pair of headphones perform, it sure does give a good indication of how good it possibly is.

Here you go! It's from the back of the box which was at the bottom of the bin until a minute ago, hence the crushed-ness

  • I have a pair of ultimate ears super.fi 5eb, which i love with my ipod, but are a bit soft with my Samsung Galaxy Tab. Is the hippo box a good match for the 5eb?

And how do the hippo vb compare to the 5eb? A lot of people don't like the 5eb because they think it has too much/muddy bass, and but i reckon they are great once burned in (for bass heads).

    • +1

It should work fairly well, making it a little bit less "muddy". There's also a bass boost switch if you want to turn it into eeeeeb…
Hippo VBs are great value and gets surprisingly close to the 5eb considering it costs almost a third of the price!

    • I have both, much prefer the VB's. Better sound, better bass, easier handling, chord doesn't fracture every 3-4 months and they don't keep falling out after you take 10 steps. I consider the VB's an upgrade myself.

Gets a +1 from me just for amazing customer service. something that's normally lacking in Australia.

  • +1

Gets another +1 from me for amazing customer service and personally delivery to my apartment today and I ordered it less than 12hours ago! Will certainly deal again. Oh the earphones are great btw! loving them! :):)

    • Great to know you're liking them! That makes it 100% positive feedback so far =P

  • Will these be good to use on a bus… meaning a fairly noisy environment?

Intend to use on an Iphone..

    • +1

They'll be great for that! Most in-ear earphones (save for a few strange ones) block out a significant amount of outside noise.
With this one for example, even without music on you'll barely hear the bus.

There's also a few advantages to using in-ears, such as music not leaking out (everyone loves the guy "sharing" his love of metal to the rest of the train) and you can listen at a lower volume, saving your hearing.

      • Thanks Rep.

  • What is the difference between this and the logitech Ultimate Ears™ 600 Noise-Isolating ones?

    Thanks

    • They're more similar than not. Both use armature drivers drivers and both noise-isolating.
The main difference will be price, where it's made (China vs Korea) and how they sound.

As for the sound, the UE will have boosted bass and treble whereas the Feels are fairly neutral.

  • Just for confirmation, you only accept PayPal?

As for the deal, looks great!

    • At the moment, yes unfortunately =(
However, you don't have to have an account. You can simply checkout with paypal and choose "don't have an account" on the right hand side and you should be able to just put in your address and credit card details.

      Thanks!

  • +2

Registered just to say thanks for the deal =) Appreciate the great customer service rare to see! Just a quick question if I ordered a pair yesterday, have they been shipped out yet and how soon should i be expecting them?

    • Thanks! All orders that are placed up to 4PM will be shipped out today, I'm just putting the last ones in satchels.
For VIC, 1 day, NSW 2-3 days QLD 3-4 days and WA 4-5 days

  • Hi Jaben,

Sounds like you have a great reputation around the net too. Wanted to ask for a comparison between the FEELS Pro900 and Hippo Shroom EB. I think the Shroom has an in-built mic too, am I correct? Does the FEELS have a mic?

    Thanks

    • Hi mate,

The shroom EB and FEELS have no mic but the Shroom-i does.
They're both very nice. Quite different in sound, FEELS is more accurate and detailed but being an armature driver it's not as punchy as the dynamic driver in the shroom.
As in you'll hear the bass but won't "feel" it like you do in dynamic earphones.

They share similar sound signature though, balanced with great clarity.

Both are my personal favourites at the price range, but if you'd like a mic the shroom-i is obviously the better choice =)

      • Thanks for the quick and late night reply =)

  • cheers op, just got a pair and looking forward to getting them soon (:
i've lost count of how many pairs of ear/headphones i've bought now..

    • Thanks! Hopefully you'll get it quite soon… Enjoy them!

  • received today :) nice packaging and really great sound quality :)

    • Thanks mate! Glad you're enjoying them

  • In VIC, so received today (2 days after order as suggested).

Packaging is good but unlike xxxfbsxxx, I'm not impressed with sound quality.
    Clearly these lack bass.
Truth be said, I'm NOT a bass fanatic and have been known to dial down my bass settings but in this case, it's simply not there.
I'm not an audiophile by any stretch of imagination so don't simply believe what I say, get a pair and judge it yourself.
I have just written to Jaben to execute their returns. Let's see how that goes.

My current in ear headphones are a set of Philips SHE-9800 also bought off a recommendation on OZBargain -> http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/38436
and that IMHO blows the FEELS out of the water.

    • +3

That's the nature of armature drivers, it's very efficient and detailed but won't give you the same "kick" as dynamic drivers in the bass. Well, not with a single anyway, dual and triples are a different story.
That said, this particular model (my opinion of course) has sufficient bass and if a song has a lot of bass, it'll come out.

Philips (as well sennheiser and other mainstream brands) tend to tune their products towards a warmer sound and more bass as that's what many people perceive as "good sound". Not saying you're wrong of course, but rather what we're used to determines what we perceive as "normal" =)

Either way, thanks for trying them out! I'll come around to yours as discussed and you can try our other products to see if anything else tickles your fancy. You can try out the expensive stuff as well so you get an idea of what's at the top!

    • +1

:) to me it's better than another single amature driver : logitech super fi.5
and the bass quantity in this is not much but the bass quality is good and great in comparison with the other 1-amature driver earphones :)
with dynamic earphone (in the same price level) you can have better bass but the clarity is worse.
All in all it's really depend on your favour :)
p/s: this is the reason why jaben said in the last of this topic you should buy hippovb if you prefer bass :)

    • +1

Agree with Jaben and xxxfbsxxx. Armature IEM definitely not as bass-y as dynamic encounter. But again, it just a matter of preference.

I got UE700 (dual armature) and they are amazing, despite they are not bass-y at all. the details and soundstage is great.

  • Bought a pair, hope it can beat the UE600 I currently use. And I just checked website of FEELS, English version of PRO900 stated as "released soon", Korean version prices is 39000 won(I won't convert it to AUD here since it is meaningless).

    • Great service, I received the item within 2-3 days and the item arrived well packaged. First impressions, I don't think it's up to par to my UE600, would have liked more bass. Overall, great price.

  • +1

First time post. Received the earphones yesterday (fast shipping, thanks!). I agree with others that the bass is very light. I changed from a low end Sennheiser closed headphones and they definately require some getting used to. After a while though, I may get used to them.
One thing though, the floating earpiece is tight on the right one (takes a bit of effort to move the angle), and is loose on the left (moves under its own weight, almost a rattle but not quite) - so I guess this may indicate some room for improvement in build quality.

  • hi there, is this an upgrade from creative aurvana air?
