  • Amazing price

    • Can't believe the price of TVs lately

  • Any idea the true refresh rate?

  • Interesting, the non-android but smart version is also marked down from $595 to $561.75

  • I have one of these. Picture is great, HDR panel (samsung i believe), chromecast built in makes setup really easy (took the setting from my phone for wifi, netflix, youtube ect).

    • Does it appear as a Chromecast (and I'm assuming it's an Ultra right?) or just a Google Cast?

      • built in chromecast https://www.google.com/chromecast/built-in/tv/

I assume it isn't the 4k version actually. They only way i can notice is the icons for which user in netflix look slightly less sharp than they do on my xbox which is 4k. Personally i don't find it matters and i don't pay the extra for 4k netflix anyway. If i had the 75in version then maybe?

        • Non ultra chromecast on a 4k TV is pointless. So it doesn't tell you the resolution if you press the info button or something?

          • +1

@CVonC: Netflix tells you but i don't have 4k netflix account. I played a 4k youtube clip and while it looked great i cant see how to bring up a display on what quality it is playing at.

There is probably an argument to be made that having a 4k tv is pointless unless you have 4k content but at the end of the day even fhd content looks better upsampled to 4k than it does on native fhd.

        • +1

I can confirm that the built in Chromecast is 4K

  • Has anyone worked how set the audio and picture settings while watching a YouTube video? Or have preferred picture and audio settings.

  • Very good TV for the price. In built Chromecast, nice picture quality and easy setup with Android TV. After firmware update, I could get get the Bluetooth connection to remote to pair, only a minor annoyance.

All plastic, obvious lower quality build, though at this price and for home use it's great.

    • Same problem here. Just do a factory reset and redo setup, the bt remote will now be detected. Btw the BT remote is way more responsive the the ir only remote.

      • Can you guys comment on whether or not the built in Chromecast is the ultra version that can stream 4K content?

        • Comments above said Non 4k model

        • The only thing I tested was casting yt from phone to tv and looked well above 1080p, I don't have any other 4K sources sorry.

          • +1

@BlinkyBill: Update. Just cast with prime video on known 4K content. Definitely looks 4K to me. Shame Amazon doesnt indicate resolution.

        • +3

I can confirm that the built in Chromecast is 4K

  • If an owner could test if there is any edge backlight bleeding it would be much appreciated.

Just run a black screen in a dark room and see if any light bleeds into the black around the edges(there are videos for this on YouTube)

  • +1

Bought one yesterday and have to admit it's a fantastic TV. Android runs pretty snappy and the picture quality for 4K content is just amazing for this price point and comparable to units in the $1k range.

Sound is not bad, but not great either. Only issues is that the remote had to be directly under the IR for the Bluetooth pairing to work. Once paired it was fine. The other issue is I can't figure out how to permanently turn off the teletext. I can turn it off for a channel but the moment I browse to another channel the teletext comes back.

Anyways I'm pretty happy with this purchase. Best $$$ I've spent in awhile.

    • Please do a software update and this will fix the teletext issue. You will then be able to turn teletext/subtitles off in settings.

      • My remote can't seem to connect with Bluetooth, only IR… Is my remote a dud? I've updated to latest firmware

        • +1

It seems you need to do a reset after the firmware to reconnect to the remote. Minor annoyance but the setup is pretty painless anyway.

  • Picked up mine, set everything up..
    Fantastic tv for the price.

I don't even need my NVIDIA shield or Vodafone tv now… If the shield is 100% speed, then this tv is about 80% snappy, I'm ok with that. One less remote/appliance.

I can't see anything really bad about the colour of this tv… For $559, it's a bargain

    • you didn't pay with 5% Wish gift cards?

      • No, didn't think..
        Take my ozb badge. 😂

      • How to?

    • Thanks mate, my concern was the speed and RAM of this TV might be a problem but sounds like it's pretty good. Does it do streaming OK in 1080p and 4K?

      • +1

I haven't tried anything on it yet, just set up with all my apps. I'll do a test tonight/tomorrow

        • Report back when you do :)

Manual states that it's 1455.5mm wide with/without the stand. But in the pictures it looks like the legs go wider than the TV. Can you confirm if that measurement is just for the TV or the width with the legs on? Also, can the legs be screwed on the wrong way (ie facing inwards not outwards)?

          • +1

@CVonC: legs and tv ends at the same width, i have it flushed with my bookshelf speakers.

i tried some youtube 4k/hdr and it looks amazing, just like the display screens at JBhifi.

            i don't have 4k netflix, i think it's doing 4k on disney, but can't tell…
my amazon isn't working - it comes up with errors each time…

still trying to sort that out.
            hope this helps?

            • @AtomuKirin: I get errors with amazon but i also get the same error running it on my xbox.

Did you try just opening prime on the phone and casting from there? That works fine for me but on either the xbox or tv i can browse shows but they dont start.

              • @Duff5000: Same problem here. Can CC Amazon prime to tv fine but the prime app won't let me start a video. Can only browse. Minor annoyance overall but but be good to have it working.

                • @BlinkyBill: @duff5000 @blinkybill I got Amazon video app working for a while.. by changing sound settings.. but I needed to do a reset because of the remote not working via Bluetooth….

Since the reset, I've had no luck with the app itself. Can CC to it.. but prefer the actual app

                  • @AtomuKirin: For anyone having any issues with software on their TV please send your contact details via a PM on the EKOConsumer Facebook page. Someone will be in contact with you to resolve the issue.

                    • @frogthatchip: hi, i don't use facebook - is there an email address I can contact or a phone number?

                      thanks

      • Streams 1080p and 4k (YouTube) just fine.

        • Thanks Brad!

  • Bought tv and picture and sound so much better than my bauhn 65 inch 4k from Sep 2016.

Tv prompted firmware update on first power on to 26/11 firmware to address subtitles per the screen. I could not get remote to connect as Bluetooth so did a reset. Now it only shows firmware as of Sept 26 and can't get subtitles to go away. Also, when do enable Bluetooth for remote and do pairing, I get then a paired message in lower right corner like every 5th button hit. Problem is it now ghost hits buttons and adds an enter/Ok.

Any suggestions as to how to get back th ed updated firmware?

For those that did the firmware update on first power in, what is the firmware date in the about menu choice?

    • reset your TV again…
i had issues pairing and after another reset, i was able to pair it straight away.

      my firmware is Sept 26th too…..i can't see a november 26th?

    • Mine is 13/09. I pressed back on the first check without completing and now it can't seem to find a newer version even after resetting.

  • Hey has anyone managed to download disney+, it isnt showing up on google play ? i just got my tv and didnt get prompted to update the firmware i think my current version is one from 13/9/19.

    • Yep, installed it last night.

      • Any comments on Amazon Prime issues? Sorry I don't use Facebook

        • +1

Google are investigating the Amazon Prime app issue and are looking to resolve shortly. We are expecting another software update next week to resolve.

          • @frogthatchip: Looks like people are having the same issue with several android TV's (not just yours)

I can play the trailers for the shows and movies but cant start the actual show. Seems like they should be able to work it out easily enough.

I had the same problem with prime on xbox until recently but it appears that was fixed as it now works.

  • Any QLD stock please?

  • Any stock in Western Australia?

    • There was one in Riverton when I bought mine (from Phoenix) on 27/12.

      • +1

Bought last one today. Big W Mandurah. Wife is very impressed with the Android Functionality. As the old saying goes "Happy Wife, Happy Life" Happy New Years and all be safe and prosperous. Cheers.

Have tried reset and setup a couple times now and still I believe 4 problems.
    1. Bluetooth remote will pair if get it right close to IR sensor. Challenge is that it will regularly disconnect as evidenced by a message of "… paired…" again and again in lower right hand corner. Impact is that ghost buttons pressed and google voice option not working
    2. On live TV, default on every channel is subtitle captions. Yes you can turn off using subtitle button on remote, but you have to do it each time, each channel. Menu options don't impact this. Most annoying of all the issues.
    3. Still no option of firmware update that I saw on initial boot which had 26/11 date and text indicating security and caption updates. Check for updates in menu and none available, Software version is still 26/09.
    4. Amazon prime video won't play videos, as mentioned by others. Looking at the screen suggested Amazon website viseo help section and no relevant solution

Picture and sound are great. Want to keep TV (Bought 2 given price), but these issues may be deal breakers. The android TV is so much better than other smart TV options on lower prices sets. The instant on is great, hope not too much energy consumption, the 520kw rating is a little bit higher than other same size, lower price TV options.

    • Had exact same issues as you. Managed to resolve issue 2 by going into; Live TV > Menu (button on remote) > Settings > Advanced Options > Subtitle > Digital Subtitle Language > Off

      • Live TV > Menu (button on remote) > Settings > Advanced Options > Subtitle > Digital Subtitle Language > Off

I tried this, selecting OK on "Off" just stays on English. Edit: fixed it by selecting "Undefined" instead.

    • 1: just turn off the BT remote for the moment and you will be no worse off than any other IR remote tv. (not ideal but less annoying)

2/3: Weird that you don't get the update. Message them on facebook i guess, i did before that update came out and they got back to me about the issue. Maybe you can download it an install from a stick? Tried factory reset again?

4: I get the same issue with prime on the xbox and the tv direct, controlling from the phone is fine though. I am leaning toward prime being the problem but i havent contacted them to ask.

    • I'm tempted to conclude that we both have a defective bluetooth remote. Seems like it can only maintain pairing properly if within 1 meter of the TV. Any further than that, interference or signal loss affects it too much.

      • I thought the same with my one after doing the update, remote barely worked via BT and when i unpaired the remote i couldn't find it again. I just used as IR remote for a couple of weeks.

After reading suggestions on here to do a factory reset post the firmware update i found the remote connected first time during the tv setup and it has worked perfectly since.

    • FYI Todays update fixed Prime

I've started up a Whirpool forum thread if people need to discuss anything about this TV there:

  • Out of stock in Melbourne. @frogthatchip - any more stock coming at some point?

    • +2

More stock on its way to Big W stores. Stores will start receiving end of this week/beginning of next week. Promotion runs until 8 Jan.

  • I can't update my firmware from 13/09. On the very first set-up I went to update but pressed back while it was checking. Ever since that it can't seem to find a newer version anymore. Even after a reset :/

Also, is there a way to disable the menu beeps?

  • Hii frogthatchip. Can you confirm if there will be more stock in Sydney?

  • Missed this deal. Any promotion recently?
