Happy New year guys!

Credit to this deal which got me to dig on ebay a little bit and found them cheaper by couple of hundred dollars.

Might be good for someone to see if they can pricematch with JB Hi Fi.

    Samsung Series 8 RU8000 65" $1355 - Shows $1330 delivered with code- PLUTO100

    • +1

Thanks Bud. Updated the post with the other code. Should have tested with both before I posted.

      • Na. It shows 1355 for me after using pluto100 code on eBay plus

    • $240 postage for me. No thanks.

  • RU8000 vs samsung QLED 6 series?

    • +2

      They’re virtually identical.

    • So basically best used for gaming or a PC monitor

      • O.o 82" PC monitor?

        • +1

According to rtings that's where it's best. Xbox or PlayStation or anyone who games on the PC in the living room. Not as unlikely as you seem to be suggesting.

My point was though as it primary purpose to me which is Movies or TV Shows there are better options.

          https://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/best/by-usage/tv-shows

Eg. LG B9 OLED or Samsung Q80

  • Go with the Hisense r7 series… Better picture then this personally for the 82"

OP wrong code its PLUTO100 for eBay Plus members

Warning to new Samsung tv customers… Adverts on mine started showing up over Christmnas.
    Linky

    • That's ridiculous! Thanks for highlighting this.

    • Mine too. Also, Disney plus app stops working regularly.

      • I had netflix, disney plus, plex and youtube apps running before I blocked the web sites. Now only netflix works so that means Samsung are forcing the other apps to go thru their servers.

        • Even plex? Which is mostly local? That's nuts!

          • @Jazdogz: I could have messed the blacklisting up on my router or somehow broke something in plex but it works if I turn on the xbox and use plex from there and not from the TVs plex app.
I'm guessing Samsung want all traffic going through their servers so they can see whos watching what.

            • @Joz2988: This is terrible. Time to dig out my chromecast again I think.

    • It’s BS that they do this, LG does it too.

    • +5

Yeah, I'm genuinely considering returning my TV because of it. It's on the literal main menu. You're forced to see it by simply turning the TV on.

      • I would if I could.

    • +6

Pirates have a better experience than legitimate customers yet again.

It must feel great losing a few grand so that you can have harmful, unwanted content displayed to you while your data is sold to unknown third parties to cause further losses.

      • +2

i use a shield for all that stuff,it's UI and kodi are far better than any TV

        • +1

i was thinking the same, any tv will have an inferior menu and features to a shield. so better go for a mid range and spend 200 on a shield

    • +5

Absolute deal breaker. I was genuinely unaware this was going on with TV manufacturers. Has ruled out any Samsung TV (or other device for that matter) for me.

Governments need to wise up to this stuff.

No one buys a TV expecting to have advertising baked into the OS.

      • It's worse than that, it's apparently configurable from their end. Our TV is I think three years old and this just started for us a couple of days ago :(

        • I bought mine 27th Dec 2018 and adverts started exactly a year later.

    • i guess get a nvidia shield?

    • +1

Thanks for the note. I was going to pull the trigger and lucky I read your comment. It is a deal breaker for me. Why would anyone want ads in their TV while they paid thousands for them?!?!

      Samsung sucks. :(

I guess I should look at Sony while they are still ad free. :(

    • Wow. I use a fetch normally so never use the samsung tv menu but that's terrible still!! My Samsung is still in a box due to moving but not looking forward to seeing this new update

  • RU8000 vs LG SM86?

      • Read that before just want to see any real experience

        • +3

I don’t think you’ll find anyone that has had any meaningful use of both.

    • LG wins

      • The very low contrast of the IPS panel looks bad in low light. Blacks are disgustingly grey.

      • As others have said, contrast on the LG sucks compared with the Samsung. Like to know how you came up with that result.
LED panels are bad enough contrast wise as they are, a BAD one is horrid.

        • I went to Harvey Norman and compared about 10 TV's and found them having a picture that was too synthetic and then in the corner of the display area I came across a TV that had a more real picture… And it turned out to be the 86" LG! Maybe Harvey's played around with settings but that LG was a clear winner for me.

          • @Logical: I have checked out the RU8000 at JB playing real 4k movie, it is not that good like the Samsung demo.

Doesn't really fell it is 4K may be it is the movie itself. It was playing Avenger.

  • Minor gripe, but the Alexa/Google Assistant support for this TV is super limited. Pause/Play/Turn Off are the only things I've been able to get happening with consistency. Turning on the TV doesn't really work and changing channels/anything else pretty much (for me!) doesn't work.

  • considering Getting the 82” but it would need to replace a wall.

Does anyone know if they’re load bearing? 😝

    • all them adverts would weaken its capacity over time.

  • Not sure why the delivery is $190 through ebay. Directly through the appliances central website its only $79 delivery for the 82 inch??

    • $60 delivery for the 82” for me, making the cost $2750 total for me.

      • That is weird. I'm in qld and it shows $190 au wide in the ebay listing :/

        • $190 for me in Melbourne. Directly through Appliance Central is only $79

        • eBay plus on eBay ipad app. Sydney.

    • eBay used to only charge fees on item amount, not shipping. Not sure if it's still the case

  • No Hisense TVs this time. Waiting for another eBay 20% off.

  • +2

Just sitting here waiting for 77" OLED C9 to be on sale and under 5k….

    • +3

You, me and the rest of the internet.

  • +4

    RU8000 vs. Hisense R8?

    • +1

      Yes

    • Hisense R8 would be a better choice and value for money.

      • How about the dynamic image processing power, I saw the R7 series in JBHIFI which didn't perform well to what I expected. I saw a bit of lagging. On the other hand, RU8000 handles it quite well. And I am also quite concerned about the R8's 8bit panel. Anyone has more comments?

  • What are pros over RU7100?

    • high refresh rate, better graphics, one remote

  • Showing $1530 for me.

    Subtotal (1 item) AU $1,390.00
    Postage AU $240.00
    Vouchers/coupons -AU $100.00
    Order total AU $1,530.00

I'm an eBay+ member and used the code PLUTO100

  • just bought the 82" one, I have been looking out for a great deal, at $2710 delivered this is fantastic.

Question now is … is it worth selling the old TV ? Its a 75" Samsung 1080p only though (still fantastic smart TV) … what do you guys think this is worth if I list it on gumtree?

    • -2

Might be able to get between $500-600 I reckon.

      • yeah thats what I thought… I might keep it and replace old plasma in the rumpus then .. not worth selling for $500, its still an awesome TV kids can use

        • +1

Yeah, you won't get $500 for it.

        • What plasma are you selling.

          • @Duece1995: 58" Samsung PS58B550T2FXXY

on another note, my 82" TV has been delivered yesterday, fantastic service and the screen is a nice upgrade. Now just need some 4K content! any tips for some cool 4K and HDR demos?

            • @Omarko: YouTube has some decent content and 4k Demos. Netflix is another good source for content.

    • where do i pickup from?

  • Have never purchased anything from them, are they any good for after sale support?

  • This TV was just purchased for $2359 delivered from JB. Might be worth shopping around.

    • By you? Receipt for price match?

      • My uncle purchased one today Samsung RU8000 82 inch. I won't divulge location yet until its delivered. Incase it gets cancelled. Personally, I reckon the salesman stuffed up.

        • Pmd you Rog1995

        • Sent you a message, Rog1995.

    • Which TV?

    • Any update on details? Delivered?

    • Would love to know this as well

      • Was delivered today. TV was purchased from JB in Knox Melbourne.

        • +1

          That's a great price, congrats

        • Can you message me a receipt? I’ll try my luck tomorrow when I’m there

  • Anybody know the actual width on the TV stand, I want to make sure the TV Unit wide enough.

  • +1

They use Hunter Express which are by far the worst couriers in existence. My order was delayed by 1.5 weeks and they don't have a contact number. When querying with Appliance Central they weren't particularly helpful either. Buy for the price, not for the service.

    • I rang them 30 mins after placing order and they seemed helpful. I asked if I can get it delivered tomorrow (Friday) as I am in Sydney metro area, they looked into my order and 5 mins later told me it will be dispatched in the morning and delivered tomorrow if I can be present to assist with the delivery.

      fingers crossed …

      • got my TV delivered yesterday so 24hr tournaround … impressive.

  • Hi - does anyone know if this TV still allows DS Video to run from its Smart Hub App Store?. I use that to have the TV read my NAS (Synology). Cheers

  • 65" RU8000 or 75" R7100? roughly same price 🤔🤔

    • +1

Do you want 65 or 75 inches

      • The bigger the better but the 65" have better image quality hence the dilemma. Budget is about <$1500. DO you know any other option?

    • Go the 86" LG… You won't regret it! The amount of real estate space you get is phenomenal.

  • Price gone down on both
