Grocery List App Suggestions Please

Hi All

Interested in recommendations for a simple but effective grocery list app. Currently using Wunderlist and live it, but it is closing down this year as Microsoft purchased it and combining with their app To Do. It isn’t the best and has lost a lot of features.

Big one I am looking for is to have a standard grocery list, and when items are ticked off, you can go back through them the next week to put them back on the list. Many other apps don’t have this option, or if they do it becomes very hard. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks

I still remember when they did this with MSN Messenger, I'm still crushed it no longer exists.

Personally I use Google Keep app, its not exactly the same as a to do list one, but you can create a to buy list and add check-boxes. Check boxes auto complete and seem to use some word list from groceries so it understand a lot of what you're writing (like washing powder for example), you could probably uncheck it at the end of the week to reset it? Also can have reminders based on location for when you're close to the store (though I find this a bit iffy at best).

Where do you shop? I find the Woolies App to be sufficient for my needs. It has the ability to save lists and re-put items back the following week. It also tells me which Aisle to go to as well.

On a slight tangent, my ideal shopping app would allow me to enter a shopping list and then somehow retrieve prices (or allow manual entry) for Aldi, Coles and Woolies and maybe some local fruit & veg shops so that I can then split the list up into the different stores. In my area, Aldi and Woolies are next to each other and Coles a short walk away. I can easily shop at both Aldi and Woolies with only an extra 5 minute time effort which sometimes may be worth the effort and sometimes not.

  • Any.Do

  • Microsoft TODO, you can even share it.
Support Windows/Android not sure about ios, probably do through the web interface.

      • I got that after I posted it, but then again how many more features you want? Ms ToDo is fine.

        • 🤷‍♂️ I guess the ones that Wunderlist had?

@John Kimble: Well never used Wunderlist,
            but

it is closing down this year as Microsoft purchased

Which mean, MS TODO get more features, not sure about OP, but I be happy, same time I'm happy as it is :)

            And I wouldn't mind this feature https://todo.uservoice.com/forums/597175-feature-suggestions…

Plus TODO not just for shopping, I use it for other personal lists, such as item to pack for holiday, etc.

  • "Our groceries " , I liked it that much i bought the company ;)

I use https://shoppinglist.google.com/ you can grant access to multi people, and you can ask your google assistant to add items to the shopping list. ie hey google, add milk to the shopping list.

So handy when cooking and things are getting low, just ask google to add it to the shopping list and away you go.

If using multi people everyone has to set the same shoppinglist as their default so you don't end up with 2 or 3 lists on the go.

Oh no mobile app, you just hit up the website, I add a bookmark/icon to my home screen for quick access.

  • Thanks all for the replies- will give a few a test

  • Bring! is easily the best. You can add other users. You can link it to Google Home so you can yell out and add stuff to the shopping list whilst your head is in the fridge or pantry.

  • Wunderlist

  • I actually use Google Sheets for my groceries. I can put in extra columns for normal price and on sale price so I know when I should buy it. I’ve also set it to tally the totals so I know how much I’ll spend before I get to the checkout.

  • Out Of Milk

  • I use a pack of post-it notes.

  • I use an app called Bring! I like it so far. The most used items are kept close by so you can add them again and again. It also have shared lists
