  • Is this better than Optus MyTab for the same price of $99?
    Any WIFI?

    • comes with android 2.1, dont think it can be upgraded.

      • Yes, it is. But don't think it has any stock….

    • no its not better , its different. i am thinking about getting one just for testing

    • +2

I have both and IMHO I think the telstra one is better. It supports flash player, faster processor, has front camera, built-in kickstand and stylus. The battery life is not great but you can buy 2 new batteries + charger for $11 on ebay. It is very easy to upgrade to 2.2 which automatically unlocks the phone as well.

      • ditto to jackofspade. read my guide to update to custom firmware and it works like a charm

  • 500 grams
    Androidâ„¢ operating system V2.1
    Runs on WiFi & 3G
    Front & back 2mp camera
    7-inch Resistive touch screen
    Compatible with your Bluetooth headset
Micro SD card slot to expand memory to 16GB

  • is it unlock? or can i unlock this mobile set?

    • would like to know as well

    • +1

Just called Telstra about unlocking and the fees and say said
      "0-6 Months $100, 6-23 months $27.50 and 24 Months+ Free"

    • Jackofspade said up the top there, that it was fairly easy to upgrade to v2.2 which automatically unlocks that phone as well..

  • i will only buy if it easily or cheaply unlock

    • +2

It can be unlocked by manually upgrading to the Norwegian 2.2 Froyo. It will also run a hell of a lot better on 2.2

      • owh..thanks tfb

    Appalling reviews - http://www.cnet.com.au/telstra-t-touch-tab-339306869.htm

I think that the Optus MyTab is likely a better option.

    • review is based on stock experience. I think after updating it to custom firmware. it is way faster than mytab and it supports flash too. as jackofspade said dont forget to get 2 extra batteries from ebay.

    Is this locked? lol

Damn its ugly! I'd buy it for $20.

Feel like got stabbed on my heart every time I see a tablet "deal" after I missed the HP Touchpad :(

I'm with you on that, brah - when we bought our myTab I told The Lovely that within a year I would be able to get a $100 10-incher to read/surf/listen to audiobooks on the dunny… and it was right there, but it took me too long to get by bum into gear and get to Hardly Normal. By the time I got there the line was like the queue for Rick Astley tickets back in the day.

Patience, yo… our day will come.

    • same :(

  • do you think they gonna sell like crazy if they sell for $50?

  • Yeah but it ain't no $98 HP TouchPad!

OMG a device for adult entertainment veiwing for $99 i must get one after 2pm but not after 2:15 can i get a case can i run it on crunchie or milkyway im so getting on

    Some facts:

    • It can be upgraded to android 2.2 (official)
    • Can be permanently unlocked by installing a custom ROM (I forgot the name). Custom ROMs also improve the sensitivity of the screen and the battery life.
    • Can play flash
    • Terrible battery
    • Damn ugly & heavy

Are you sure they're in stock? This "promotion" has been there for 2 months, and it's already been discounted nationwide for more than 4 weeks

  • Can anyone confirm if Skype Video will work with the upgraded ROM (2.2)

    • no Skype video calling does not work so as gtalk video calls. try other messenger from market fring or something

  • This isn't a decent tablet and Telstra are just selling them off cheap to people who missed out on the HP deal / Optus deal which were at similar prices.

Wait for the honeycomb (v3.10 ones to come down once the ice cream (v4.0) come out in a few months.

what is the point of this post? It has been on OW website for a long time at that price and there is NO stock everywhere. I'll neg this.

I couldn't find any store in VIC that still has this even a display model. Anyone can point to me at least 1 OW that still has stock?

    • at least you can take it to HN and ask them to price match as I did :-)
