  • How do you enter the coupon code when checking out with ApplePay?

  • +1

Don’t have Apple Pay so don’t know. Paid with card, added to cart first, then on checkout page is a place to add a coupon (on right hand side). Don’t know if this helps you

    • Thanks. You can't use the coupon from the product page, only the checkout. And then on mobile it's hidden behind a "Show order summary" link. But from there, you can't checkout with ApplePay.

  • How good is their coffee ?

    • Very good blends, but can't vouch for the single origin stuff (never tried it).

      • As a great roaster/cafe I used to frequent said: "a blend should be greater than the sum of it's parts".
I can't vouch for these blends, but if anyone is making awful blends, they should supply Starbucks or something.
Sadly, a lot of blends are indeed worse than the SOs.

        • Blends will be worse if you drink your coffee black. Blends are really created for milk based coffees.

But of course, a really really good blend can be drunk any which way and still turn out tasty!

    • Very good coffee… It's bean a while since they last had a deal, would def buy if the price is right. (like it is now!)

I see what you did there

Are they roasted to order and if not when were they roasted?

    • +1

I don't think this pack is roasted to order as they pre-roast to an "espresso" profile and you can't change…more likely to be batch roasted. They do have other beans that you can adjust the roasting to your liking…just send them a note…

However, it is fresh and delicious! Last time I've ordered it was delivered to Melb within 2 or 3 days. If I recall correctly they do have a roast date stamped.

      • What I meant is whether they will have been freshly roasted or roasted weeks ago. Do they even have a roast date on the bag?

        • -2

You can choose the type of grind (about 8 options) if that means anything to you. I'm going to guess freshly roasted.

          • -1

@staz: Why would you guess that? They could be grinding beans roasted a year ago for all we know?

            • @serpserpserp: Why would you guess that? We know nothing, hence a guess, not advice.

I'll send them an email to find out.

            • @serpserpserp: Received today. Roast date 31 January

  • Thanks OP, ordered

  • I've given them a go too.

They are down the road from where I live - very good coffee. Haven't tried Hunter but the blend is fantastic. Dusk is dark, fairly sweet but a bit too rich for my tastes others seem to like it though.
    Highly recommended!

  • Thanks OP I will give them a try.

  • The crafted blend is beautiful for those who like a nice medium roast with a slight sweet after-taste.

  • How long will these store in the pantry?

    • also wanting to know this. i only plan to open one at a time

      • Yeah I still have a couple of bags from the chocolate place in Melbourne. :)

        • +1

how do you find them? I ordered 1kg and have actually been pretty disappointed with the flavour profile

          • @Archaleas: Haven't opened them yet, finishing off a bag of local stuff ATM. We usually get the the stuff from coffeesnobs beanbay and seem to keep going back to that but we don;t mind trying other stuff now and then when a good deal comes along.

          • @Archaleas: Me too! I won't order from them again - very little flavour with both bags. I got Peru Single Origin and seasonal Spring blend

Freeze the bags you arent using. Roasted coffee has a curve profile that peaks somewhere between 5-15 days and degrades from there. I'd say as these are most likely city-roast blends they will peak somewhere towards 15 days.

  • I was of the understanding that espresso roast profile is basically almost burnt beans. So roasters get all their crappier beans and over-roast them.

This is what I was lead to believe a few years ago when I was roasting at home. Of course I'm probably wrong but happy to hear others' thoughts on this.

    • I've never met a roaster that does this.

They should not be burnt beans either, they will taste horrible.

Filter roast is lighter and best suited, as the name suggests, for filter coffee. You will pick up the more subtle notes of the coffee but will be over powered by milk if added.

Espresso roasts work better on machines and for milk based coffees where their bolder flavour stands up better.

I never said burnt beans, I said almost burnt.

From what I've gathered, espresso roasts all basically taste flat because of the temperature that's reached in the roasting process (very high).

        • Again, I've never met a roaster that uses substandard beans for espresso roasts and "over-roasts" them. They are just two different flavour profiles designed for separate brewing methods. An espresso roast should also not taste flat.

  • Thanks. Ordered some.

  • Thanks OP. Ordered. Looking forward to it.

  • Get the Di Lorenzo Specialty Blend, better than most.

    • Pretty good price at $12.50. Will check it out. Thanks!

Good blend, would recommend to anyone who hasn't tried it yet

  • Thank you. Ordered some.

Is anyone else starting to get a bit overwhelmed by the sheer amount of online micro roasters out there peddling their wares in Australia these days?

    • +6

Yeah I've been brewing over it for while now.

Discount code doesn't work for me. Code got stuck for a while then displayed "WELCOME discount code isn’t valid for the items in your cart". Hasn't recovered since.

  • are these suitable for aeropress made coffee or more suitable for espresso style?
how long is the shelf life? thx

  • +2

    Not working

  • The code doesn't work. Anyone purchased it successfully?

    • Yes, my order went through successfully.

  • Damn missed it!

  • Any one had a confirmation that it's been shipped yet.

    • Yes with tracking number

  • Oddly enough when you sign up for their e-mail list you still get sent the discount code despite it no longer working. Perhaps it will work again in a few days after they clear out the avalanche of OzBargain orders :D

  • Delivery arrived today.

    Roast date of 29 Jan.

Also in parcel was a discount code for 25% off next order of 1kg (either 1kg bag or smaller bags totaling 1kg)

    • Got mine yesterday with a roast date of 31st Jan. I ordered late on Thursday so must have got a very fresh batch. Yet to try any yet as I've just opened a kg bag of Aldi Columbian Single Origin (definitely my new go to when I don't have any speciality beans)

      • Does Aldi have freshly roasted coffee, or is it undated?

  • +1

    Shipped: Jan 31st
    Expected Delivery: 14th-18th Feb

This might be a personal best.

  • Still waiting for mine and they posted it 12 days ago. I live in Tassie :-(

  • +2

    received mine today in WA
postage bag was left at the door and covered in what appears to be some kind of motor oil. Fastway couriers have seriously one upped themselves this time.

    • Yuck :-( I assumed it was coming by Australia Post, not courier. I hope they're not using Sendle - it takes forever to get something delivered to Tassie through them. Eg, 8 days from Victoria last year!

Just looked at my email from Fox and it said they're sending it by Australia Post. I clicked on the link just now and it says Pending :-(

      • +1

My tracking reference (to Perth) is for Sendle, estimated delivery 14 - 18 February, meaning two to three weeks in transit, probably with Fastway.
If I'd known that's who they use I would not have ordered.

        • When I checked my letterbox at 11.30 this morning, after I posted above about it not arriving yet, it was in the letterbox through Australia Post!

2 bags were roast dated 3/2 and one bag 31/1.

I've just tried the Crafted blend and I'm a bit disappointed. I made a latte. I might have to adjust the grind a little. It wasn't bitter, though. I just thought it would have a bit more flavour. It looked good coming out of the machine and it had thick crema on it.

  • Has anyone tried it yet? I tried Craft and this morning I tried Dusk and it seemed very similar to Craft!
