  • Bought the larger version of this. Wish I bought the compact version because my hands are too small to hold the bottom of it and grind. Ends up just pinching your hand between both sections. Not willing to blow another 60 bucks though.

  • Reviews are bad in Amazon.

    • Full 12 months warranty through us, we handle any issues. But pretty rare on latest model :)

    • Lots of comments on how bad the handle is.

Anyone have experience with this grinder and can comment on the quality?

      • I've got the larger version. Works fine. Never had an issue. What issue are they reporting?

        • That the handle snaps off from where it connects. Perhaps these issues have been fixed with the newer model?

          • @Yeah na yeah: Snaps off? It's a separate piece. Makes it easy to store or travel. You pop it on and commence grinding away. Take it off and pack away.

I've got this, no issues at all. Had it for about twelve months, bought it from this shop along with an Aeropress. I use it every day pretty much, travel with it and take it camping.

Don't use the aeropress much anymore but the grinder is nice, does enough in one go for a big french press for 3 big coffees. Half will fill an aeropress or pour over filter.

The lid has become a little loose as the plastic grooves it sits against have worn down. But the grinder itself is still working great, I clean it maybe once a month.

I do like freshly ground coffee over pre ground nowadays. There are nicer grinders but not for the money.

Hot tip, put a rubber band around it to get a better grip.

    • How do you clean yours

      • Unscrew the plastic triangular washer thing, from the bottom of the unit. The one you use to set the fineness of the grind.

Then the bottom ceramic part of the grinder comes off. Be careful as these are fragile. You can also remove the plastic plug that is seated in that, but I don't do that for most washes. It can get nasty in there if you leave it, as it's quite closed up inside and can get funky with the coffee oil and stuff.

Then, with your hand under the main unit, give the body a knock and the bigger ceramic part will dislodge.

Just rinse everything with hot water and maybe soap if you like.

It will remain stained but it'll be clean. Reassemble in reverse order when it's dry, pretty quick and easy.

        • Do you clean the actual grinder itself? or just the burrs - I want to flush my whole grinder out with water but worried it will rust or something inside.

          • @Fergy1987: I clean everything, just wash it all out with hot water and let it dry disassembled on a kitchen towel.

No issues with rust or anything so far, should be fine unless you're cleaning it with salt water!

          • @Fergy1987: Wash it with water and then dry it in a very, very low heated oven.

  • Any upcoming deals on the Baratza Encore? My hand grinder is about done for.

Don’t pay the brand premium. There are plenty of cheaper but equivalent quality manual conical burr adjustable grinders available on Amazon. I payed $8.12 for my Zolay one which has been great for camping and road trips.
