brings back alot of good memories going down to the video shop with mum when i was a kid. sad that video ezy aint gonna be around that much longer.

    • I didn't even realise that were still around now.

      • same actually, i thought the last one closed not long ago. maybe that was the last one in the state or something. but it was fun on a fri or sat night as a kid going down and getting to choose 1 or 2 movies

          Yes fun memories for sure.

Also before the days of internet on phones, so you had to decide if the movie was good completely based of the synopsis on the back of the case, along with some basic pictures.

          • @stumbows: I used to enjoy trailers on the vhs my family hired just as much as the films, so I could make a list of movies to get next time.

I think it's all vending machines nowadays

  • do these things have bluray or are they just dvd?

    • +1

Both - the bluray selection is much lower though.

Maybe I'm spoiled with my super fancy TV but I didn't even think people still watched DVDs.

      • Thanks. This is what I wanted to find out.
It’s not easy going back to DVD.

        • Up scaling works okay, so for rentals of new release movies that aren’t worth buying it works for me. Individual results may vary.

There are also free movies at the local libraries! and usually much smaller fines for late return!

      Do they have new releases?

      • newer than netflix etc.

      • They do but good luck actually getting it. Most popular new releases at my library have around 40 reserves.

    • I keep forgetting that.

  • +1

Yes, public libraries have new releases but sometimes the wait time to get them can be a little long. Usually, libraries have multiple copies of popular new releases and some libraries have blurays as well. My local library service has permanently waived overdue fees for all items.

  • Gees, it's been a while! Thanks OP

  • I also like the extras and special features like the animated short films.

Just a note - I used this code to hire Terminator a few days ago, then used it again on a different kiosk today to hire Dr Sleep.

Usually it tells you the code has been used. But it worked fine.

    • thanks for the heads up, think I will try that today..
Ford v Ferrari is out in a few days too, Ive got 1 card left that I haven't used just to ensure I can get that.
