Live in Bali for 1 year

Hey,

Wife child and myself would like to move to bali for 1 year.

Father currently lives there on a working visa (appropriately 9years)

Visa is our only issue, we don’t care if we have to work or don’t have to, we just want a year away.

Anyone else done it? For a year?

Any pointers are appreciated!

As long as your boogie board bag only has a boogie board inside it

Or your one year stay becomes 20 years paid for by the indonesian government

Sounds like the perfect bargain for OzB!

  • Friends did it for a year with their small child. They loved it but this was probably 6 years ago now.

Can you not get a year visa? I know of a few expats there, maybe you can just fly out and fly back in the next day to reset visa?

It is extremely cheap to live there so if you have cash saved go for it. My friends in question actually developed an online business (in something not related to Bali) while they lived over there and by the time they left it had turned into a nice little earner on the side (not enough to quit the day job though).

Life is short. Go for it.

No I haven't done Bali for a year but I say GO FOR IT.

Live your best life and if that means going to Bali, do it. We only have one chance at this thing called life, so might as well enjoy it to your own terms. Don't listen to others, don't live your life to what others think or say.

    Don't live ordinary, live extraordinary!

  • I would do it if I had the savings. I don't find Bali that cheap anymore. If you can take a year off work it would be an awesome time.

  • Get an above the board multiple entry visa ( meaning you aren't locked there for the entirety of your stay) .

I say visit there as a tourist then visit a local immigration agency. Local travel agencies should be able to refer you.

I haven't done it in Bali but I lived in china and hong kong using an agency that got me a no questions asked multiple entry visa for several years where I could come and go as I pleased.

Everything else is either too expensive (like a business investment visa) or too risky ( like many resetting tourist visas)
I'm sure many Aussies have done this specifically in Indonesia and know more than I

    $0.02

  • Can u buy a cheap business to get a visa?

  • Easiest way to get a free break in bali, all expenses paid, is to smuggle something inside a surf board.

  • Yes, I have done it. Not Bali, but Indonesia and it was more than 10 years ago. I had to leave on a day trip to Singapore or Malaysia every 3 months (Stay length is even shorter now) I tried to get a longer visa but that whole experience was like sticking my head in a bucket of shit. May be easier if you know how to handle the whole corruption thing, I was a little green to that at the time. Leaving and coming back was the easier way.

  • we don’t care if we have to work or don’t have to

So if you cant get jobs etc have you enough savings to cover your expenses for 12 months? Including bribes to police, officials etc its a common thing there (corruption)

    • I think the point OP is trying to make is that they're happy to work if there's a work requirement on the visa.

Not that OP will need to find a way to support themselves.

  • Seriously thank you all for your responses, i’ll be in touch individually as comments can’t go past 30days.

    Touch base soon all.
    Thanks OzB fam!
