Good compilation! Thanks for posting =)

probably better to just wait for another deal for a similar price without having to wait for cashback.

  • +2

Ensure you check the shipping time as the wait is horrific sometimes

    • Corona and chinese new year will slow many things down, not just lenovo.

      • +1

Coronavirus wasnt a thing when I had my experience :) They are notoriously slow, this just adds to the already low expectations on shipping

        • Mine shipped in 5 days from ordering in November and it took 4 days for them to arrive in country vic. Make sure someone is at the address you use or they wont leave it. Mine went back to Melb and took a few more days again for second delivery. But 9 days from order, build, to 1st delivery is acceptable in my books.

Or wait for Ryzen 4000 series…

    • +3

Ryzen 8000 series, though may take several years!

      • Ryzen 16000 series, though may take several decades!

    • +1

It may be worth waiting for Ryzen 4000 series guys considering the current Intel 10th gen lineup outperforms these.

  • Will it worth upgrading to 3700u from 3500u? It seems to me the 3700u is just an overclocked version of 3500u?

    • +6

The 3700U is a higher clocked version yes, but also comes with a modestly better integrated GPU - should be around ~20-30% faster on GPU-bound tasks like games based on the spec (I'm double-checking benchmarks now).

For users just using it for office-y tasks / YouTube / web browsing then it probably won't be worth the $100 jump up. People interested in some casual gaming (for non-demanding games) would likely find it worthwhile though.

edit: a glance at real world performance looks more like ~10-20% faster on average for GPU-bound tasks (e.g. games). Less clearly worthwhile, but not too bad if that's something that's important to you ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

  • btw, just a heads up this may take up to a month to deliver. I ordered a thinkpad E595 on January the 31st and it just got sent out from lenovos warehouse in China.

I ordered e595 on 6th Feb and was told yesterday that it's just been shipped from China too.

    Lenovo ThinkPad E595 / 15'6" FHD / AMD Ryzen 5 3500U / 16GB RAM / 512 SSD $879.45 Shipped

The price is $948.20. It is $874.45 after cash back. Cashback are not part of the deal. Cashback are always seperate in nature.

  • Get the 16gb people. You won't regret it.

(Unless they give it to you in a single stick)

    • They shipped a single 8GB on mine and I just got another from ebay for around $50. Also has m.2 inside and space to add a separate SSD, so you can add a bigger second drive and keep the m.2 running windows.

would dual channel in a laptop really make that much difference?

      • +1

Absolutely! A significant speed increase in all tasks.

  • I just realised they ship 512GB drive rather than the 256GB they did in the November deal. Thats a nice bonus.

  • Can someone please tell me the difference between "512GB Solid State Drive, M.2 2280, PCIe-NVMe, TLC" and "512GB SSD M.2 2242 PCIe NVMe"? Thanks.

    • +1

One is longer and the other shorter. 2280 vs 2242

      https://www.isunshare.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/m-…

      • Oh cool. Any difference in performance?

    • +3

The numbers are the physical sizes. 2242 is 22mm wide and 42mm long. 2280 is 22mm wide and 80mm long.

      • Thanks! Any performance changes?

    • +3

You'll often find that the longer 2280 actually makes use of the extra space with more NAND Flash Chips while a 2242 SSD won't have as much space and will require less NAND Flash Chips, even though they are the same size, you could probably expect a slight speed performance on the longer one as well as better reliability.

I would go for the 2280, but realistically these are both things that won't really affect the average user

The title price is before cashback already

@Mod, how is the title price before cashback. It is NOT.

OP changed the title from 16GB to 8GB RAM now. This changed the fundamental of original post's title.

Anyone else have problems with this laptop? My wifi keeps on shutting off every few minutes…

    • Warranty it

Also, which model? Two are listed

    • My 595 sometimes drops wifi. I just click it off and on and it connects instantly. Might go hours without it then sometimes it might be a few times in an hour. My 495 is rock solid. If it's too bad I will send off for warranty

    • The included Realtek wifi card is know to not work well.

I have an E595 on order and plan to replace it with an Intel 9260 M.2 wifi card.

      • Excuse my ignorance, never changed a wifi card in a laptop, but will that go in the same slot as the current realtek?

        • Yeah, just pull out the Realtek card and put in the new card the same.
