    E-Cards, how sincere!

Maybe I can print it out? :P

    • +1

It's less sincere than a mass produced card which contains graphics and text made by someone in a different country who doesn't know your dad?

(or giving thanks for him, one day of the year on a corporate sponsored "special day"?) :P

      ;)

  • 30PERCENT at the checkout for a 30% discount if you decide to go for a paper option. Yeah print it out, send it too?

last time I sent one of these, it took 2 weeks to arrive

Hmm and I thought e-cards were faster.

  • oh BIG discovery!! free E-CARDS!!

agree with Sturmeh, how sincere is that!!

It's good for people who have their fathers in a different country ;)

      • And wouldn't it be nice to send dad a surprise ecard on top of that real card you've sent him :)

    • "eCards" should be free to begin with

Well, they still hire artists to produce graphics and the words. Possibly the music and the animation too.

Then they have a legal team ensure they've got copyright access to the materials.

There's also the hardware costs of the servers they've provided.

Cost of internet connection to provide access to it etc …

Building space rental for where the machines, artists etc work.

Electricity to power them all … :P

Some of the Hallmark cards are better than many of the free ones I've seen out there and most of the free ones had all kinds of adverts plastered all over the website too.

Hallmark actually has some free e-cards too, all the time, come to think of it. Usually a handful of theirs are free for the different celebrations.

So … this probably means you can get access to the paid ones today, for free, as well.

They always arrive perfect on birthday/anniversary dates for all the close and extended family even though i set them up last year ! sent more than 10 cards from previous promotions :)

And thats probably why theyre only offering free e-cards, rather than free paper cards. Well done you!

  • The last time I've made an e-card was when I was 11. Ahh, good times :)

  • Shame they're pretty ordinary e-cards compared to real cards (especially if you're an adult). I ended up sending my dad an ordinary email instead :P

Don't know who the original author is but the first time I heard it was on The Gruen Transfer:-

"If it's free then you're not the customer, you're the product being sold."

Free samples I can cope with - but this one…!

So that's a neg from me: for selling your father on father's day - although quite appropriate given there are few days in the year that are more exclusively about selling that father's day and mother's day.

    • now back to my "free" gmail account!!!!

I tip my hat to the marketing guys who sold you that line as an "all the time" truth ;)

  • Just give him a hug.
