ShoppingExpress on 05/09/2011 - 17:30 ¶thanks mate, i should add on: at this time of post: all other products' prices also beat staticice
ShoppingExpress on 05/09/2011 - 17:41 ¶Hi Khey,
Definitely it has not been forgotten. As mentioned, it will be either announce in our facebook or in the forum first when the deal has been confirmed. It is a shame it cannot make it for today's list, but Toshiba Tab for this price has its own merits (full sized USB port and HDMI) for others not aiming for the transformer.

Will this be a good choice for streaming videos between TV,router (both connected wired) and Laptop ( wireless):
http://www.shoppingexpress.com.au/buy/iomega-2tb-home-media-...My TV is connected wired with Router, but laptop is connected wireless. Streaming HD movies is not that smooth.
So want to connect Either a NAS or Network drive like this.
+1 voteI was thinking about this too. Generally good reviews for this on the net. If you search make sure you're looking at ones for the "cloud edition" as there was another model with the same name before this released in 2009 and was quite mediocre. I found the CNET (US) review quite helpful (haha yes I was shocked too) as it answered quite a few of my questions and suggests great throughput speed - especially for a "home" NAS.
Of course there are limitations too, but for the price I think some of the shortcomings would be expected/can be overlooked. Anyway, I'll let you read it to see which ones affect you: http://reviews.cnet.com/network-storage/iomega-home-media-ne...
+2 votesThanks for the review. I was also worried as my Netgear DGN2200 router has normal enternet ports and not gigabit. So I dont know, if that speed will be good for HD streaming or not.
Haha bet you chose that router so you could get OfficeWorks to price match :)
In regards to HD playback, well it would depend on the bitrate of the HD encoded stream - some would play ok, but others will be choppy. As your router only has 10/100 ethernet ports, you will not be able to use the "NAS" to its maximum potential, as your router can only handle a theoretical maximum of 12.5 megabytes per second (100 megabits divided by 8), while under testing the iomega drive pumps out reading speeds of 59.6 MBps (based on the 476.9mbps read speed from the CNET review).
AFAIK your router has USB, but i'm pretty sure trying to stream HD using that and an regular external drive wouldn't work very well - that's why I also bought the Asus RT-N56U deal while the cashback was on last month. Haven't had a chance to play with that and an external USB drive yet, but if I find that too slow for HD streaming I think I'll grab this iomega drive.

Anyway post back how you go with this thing as I'll be looking to get it if my new router + hdd combo buckles under HD streaming.

Theorectically it should work with DLNA compatible TV…
This site has some search and match thingy but may not include every matching devices, but you might want to give it a try.
http://www.dlna.org/digital_living/product_types/
Yes mate. True ozbargainer is one, who take the item as free delivery, If not written.
Anyways, I have read its comment and they are average for a cloud version and medium speed. But We are also not spending over 500 bucks for a true NAS.
I saw one review on youtube, where the guy said, he was able to stream Hd & Full HD videos from 1 TB version.
This one is having better ram and processor, so shd work better. But speed will remain like 10-12 Mbps over network ( slower than the usb)Be in touch over other deals or this deal. I will let you know, how the unit worked. Though the average price of the drive is 159 or 169 delivered. It was also a average deal for me.
Free postage could have been better. BTW the coupon is expired now.
I got the HDD and it streams full HD videos to my Tv without a problem ( both of them are wired to the router). It has very less sound of its own.
But it is quite slow in navigation through software. I am not able to transfer my complete backup to this. I am copying by putting my other HDD to its USB. It gives unknow error after like 120 -200 GB. You can hardly access it, when it is coping or doing anything else.Rest it is not the best thing. Too slow. So if you want if only for streaming, you can get it, else go for a good one with better processing speeds.
I am thinking to call the Iomega support for the problems. I am quite annoyed with the delay in responding in browser.
Jigglebelly on 06/09/2011 - 17:59 ¶Hi Shopping Express.
I made an order with you guys and have transferred the money directly with your bank, so the transaction should have gone through instantly. Since you now have my money, when do I get my order?
I sent an email earlier today and got an automated message with a ticket ID (#3884) but no actual reply.
Also Fyi the password you gave me to log in to your help desk did not work, I had to change it to log in so don't know what was going on there…
ShoppingExpress on 06/09/2011 - 18:05 ¶Dear Jigglebelly,
If you use electronic transfer, and payment was made today, please kindly wait around at least 1 to 2 business day for the payment to be confirmed onto our bank account. We only dispatch orders once we confirmed the payment, therefore, you might want to consider using paypal in future if you require faster confirmation.
Jigglebelly on 06/09/2011 - 18:31 ¶Well I actually took cash directly into commonwealth and made the deposit in person so the money should appear in your account instantly. I don't mind waiting, I just like to be updated.
ShoppingExpress on 06/09/2011 - 20:26 ¶no worries mate, appreciate your interest in giving us your business.
The payment report will always show what was paid yesterday, therefore requiring at least 1 working day for us to see electronic transfer or direct deposit payment, while paypal will automatically link to our site to instantly (or within very short period) process and confirm payment - which explains the non delay issue in seeing your order change to paid status (should you select that option). In any case, a reply was sent to you as soon as i replied you in the earlier message. At the same time, please allow around up to 24 hours for responding to query via email. In case of emergency, you can contact us via phone (number available on our website & newsletter). If you did not receive any response within 24 hours, you may let me know, as we need to ensure our customer support team is working within our set level of service, and if not, what is the reason in that happening.
