        • if the machine came with 2 x 2G originally, then CentreCom needs to open the machine,to install the 2 new RAMs by removing the cover of the touch pad

        • yea i know that. im just telling you guys what the sales told me. and he also said they got around 300 units and its almost gone after a day or 2.

        • Abckids, which store did you go to with remaining stock, Sunshine?

      • only sunshine store has it. i went there grab one directly and he said only 7 units left not sure about now. give them a call :)

  • hmm i ordered but it says 'verifying card details' so does it mean i have it or i don't?

    • +2

Congrats, you've just lost 699 bucks.

    • I ordered one when they had stock and I paid via direct debt. After I purchased it a while later it got sold out. Not sure if they allocated stock when purchased online and when the allocated stocks were exhausted the webpage showed it was sold out.

      • I too paid by direct debit (made the transfer straight after going through the order process, but CentreCom likely won't be seeing any money until tomorrow as it is an ANZ - NAB transfer) - surely the stock allocation goes by order, not received payment…

        • I sent a question to centercom and they said they have allocated all the stock that has been ordered through the website before it was sold out.

So I think your order will be fine.

      • 'Once you press the button Confirm we will reserve the stock for you. You have up to 7 days to pay…' said by a Centrecom rep.

  • Does anyone think that a reasonable sized cropped photo of the invoice would do for the cashback? I unfortunately don't have a working scanner for the next three weeks.

    • ask CentreCom to send you a soft copy of the invoice

    • They would supply you a PDF invoice.

    • Got a phone with camera? I just took a picture of my invoice and upload, and that worked both times for the lenovo cashback.

    • Thanks everyone for all your replies. I'll see if I get a pdf invoice once the bank transfer goes through and if not I'll just send a photo seeing as how it worked for Mily.

      • But you have to ask them about it. They will supply it to you then.

    • +1

FYI I have uploaded a pdf invoice and my claim got approved today.

      • It's good to know that's an option. I'll email asking for a pdf invoice once their system says by bank transfer has gone through.

      • So you did get one? Haha.

        • +1

Ah no I was talking about the T520 purchase. Had not have time to do so until yesterday. I was very tempted to buy this one but my application did save me quite a few bucks here lol.

  • does it mean integrated mobile boardband included? i still am not sure about what does wwan mean ? how does it differ from Integrated mobile broadband?

    • +1

When a laptop is said to have WWAN capability it means it has internet connectivity through cellular network technologies, like 3G HSDPA or UMTS.

In layman's terms, it's just mobile broadband, without the need for a USB modem because the laptop already has one inside.

      • in this case, could i put it in this way, this model actually have integrated 3g broadband built in which allows access to the internet anywhere through carrier's network via their cellular sim card?

        • Yes. You can put in a sim card and it will work.

      • thanks for the replies. that is like extra $100 bucks saving just for this 3g feature!

        • +1

Why was I broke at that very moment…

  • I was lucky enough to grab one of the last few in store…I missed the T520 so didn't want to miss this one.

The little LED spotlight that is directed at the keyboard is a great little feature!

    • I've always wondered about those. Would you say it's more useful then a backlit keyboard?

      • Actually, my laptop has a backlit keyboard (a Dell Latitude E6500)…the T420 is for the other half.
I think the backlit keys are better, but it is a good compromise considering how much more backlit keys would cost as an option.

        • +1

If I remember, T series had a small LED light on the LID,which falls sweetly on the keyboard to use it at night. So dont need backlit keyb for these :)

  • +2

alas, I was too slow :P

  • anyone had comment on $499 THINKPAD L420 ?

    • I think that's a decent machine…will be getting that over the weekend…hopefully they have it in stock….would love to hear what everyone has to say though…

  • +1

Protip: ring around - some stores still have stock of this ;)

    • Props, thank you!

  • +3

I am the OP and I missed out, can you believe it? I was hesitating because I already got 3 computers…:(

    • Quelle surprise. Ask them for a free lappy as commission ^_^.

      • +5

Yeah I really want one now, kicking myself why I posted the deal (then hesitated) :)

CentreCom Please bring back the deal!

  • +2

I believe that the Hawthorn store are getting 5 in tomorrow. I picked one up there today. Good luck!

    • Was one of the lucky few, thanks to your post. Much appreciated.

  • was just wondering what the screen is like on these? 14 inch and 1600x900 seems really small to me? Also from the pics it seems rather than a smaller/thinner laptop it looks quite thick and the bezel from the screen is huge. (i.e. it just looks like a smaller screen put in a bigger laptop). Can anyone who has one comment on this? how is the font size btw - I would think it would be quite small?

Already got the t520 just trying to figure out if I should also pick up this deal if i can.

The graphics doesn't make much difference for me, but for 100 more it seem worth it for the built in 3g modem and extra ram? what you guys think?

Khoeb i know you went from the t520 to the t420, screen size/res bother you at all? is the 420 noticeably faster?

    • +2

I think the 1600900 screen is fantastic and, coupled with the 14 inch screen, thinks don't look as pixelated as they did on the T520. RAM is incredibly cheap so don't get it just for that. It isn't noticeably faster though because the CPU is only a bit faster and the HDD is still an HDD. For the whole package it is definitely a better buy, but if you don't really need the 1600900 and GPU, it might not be worth it.

And that's if you manage to find one as it seems to be sold out.

      • thanks for the advice mate, how about the size/weight (i know i can look up the stats) but is it noticeably lighter/smaller? I wouldn't mind the portability, but i'm thinking it might be a pain to get rid of the t520 anyway/hard to find the t420 now anyhow.

        • It is definitely noticeably lighter, smaller and thinner. The T520 seems like a beast compared to it.

Yeah people are listing it for 789 and haven't sold it yet.

  • Is there anyone wants to cancel her/his order?
I want to get one for my dad……….

    • How much you offering?

      • do u like to transfer the order to me?

  • Had mine delivered about an hour ago - fast service and the laptop is great! 14" screen size on 1600x900 is perfect! Thanks for posting this deal.

  • With the extra RAM, I was told it would be an additional 4Gb module, but it is a single 8Gb module which apparently should be Lenovo branded (I haven't checked this).

In this case, shouldn't we be given the 4Gb module that was removed?

    • there is no such Lenovo branded RAM available
also there is not such a single 8G laptop RAM available

    • actually they two RAM slot in the Laptop, one is located at the bottom of the laptop, another one is located inside the laptop, you need to remove the cover of the touch pad to find it. So the one you see on the bottom is only 4G

  • For everyone who's already received theirs, how long after it was dispatched was delivery? Mine was dispatched today. Should I expect it delivered in country NSW on Monday, or is there a possibility I should expect it sooner or later?

      • Thanks for that. I'm assuming it wont be overnight express in which case it'll be Monday for me.

        • Not if you are in the sticks. Mine was sent 5.00pm 6th and says its onboard for delivery today in Brisbane CBD.

    • I purchased Tuesday midday, paid direct debt straight away.
      Payment received yesterday (Wednesday)
      Delivered today (Sydney Metro)

    • +2

Very fast delivery from TNT / CentreCom, first laptop for myself only :) :) :)
      - Ordered on Tuesday, and paid using bank transfer
      - Payment received by CentreCom on Wednesday, shipped via TNT on Wed afternoon
      - Delivered to my work address in Sydney NSW today (Thursday) :)

  • +1

Mine says on-board with driver, cmon cmon deliver it already TNT!(delivery to adelaide CBD)

Ordered a Corsair Force 3 128gb SSD for mine. A high-specced laptop can't be slugged with an old-school mechanical HDD. :)

  • boy did the Bundoora store stuff up my order. Rang yesterday to reserve one of the ones left available, confirming model and price. Then call up before I did the long drive there to confirm. Suddenly no knowledge of my order or that I even called! Now none left in stock. Sad.

    • Sorry to hear that. I bet the staff member took it.

      • All good, mistakes happen. I picked up the T520 from them last time anyway so happy with that.

  • I received my box today. The plastic sleeve around the laptop has already been opened - the red seal was already broken.

Can anyone confirm if this is what happened to their's ? i.e. was the red seal broken out of the box ? It may be because they had to take out the T420 to install the extra 4gb ram.

    • Yes, my T420's red seal is also broken when I receive it today. Your assumption is correct, CentreCom need to open the package to install extra 4GB memory. I can see screwdriver marks on a screw for middle bottom panel, and this is where the 4GB memory is located (installed by CentreCom).

I believe all of us who ordered T420 with this deal have broken red seal … unless they specifically requested not to install the memory by CentreCom.

      • I received my box too. Same, the red seal was already broken.

    • Lovenoodles,

How about the battery? Was it wrapped in seal plastic? if yes, the laptop never been opened. when i ordered my T520 i got open box with red seal broken in plastic bag, i think centrecom sent me display model or they just open box. but the battery was in seal plastic bag and the laptop was got new smell(now after use it for a week new smellis gone)…

  • I also received one today with the seal broken. Also, the clear tape ad been removed from e.g. the Lenovo badge on the outside. As a bonus, when I removed the black plastic from the carton, a 'spare' black screw fell onto my desk. I checked my laptop but it doesnt seem to be missing from there - I guess I got someone else's…..

  • For those who miss out on the deal, someone is selling one for $680 with similar spec on http://melbourne.gumtree.com.au just type in T420 and search

    • Its a half year old one though…

  • +1

So are we getting more stock CentreCom?

    • +1

ttkc, the new Clayton Super Store may be worth a try early tomorrow.

      • +2

they had 4 units in stock only and gone with the wind soon after its opening

        • +2

Thanks guys for the information but I am in Sydney, will you guys buy me a ticket to fly to MEL? I still can't believe I missed out the deal I posted myself.

        • +1

The other day I got off the train to let some people off and I couldn't get back on as the new passengers pushed in front of me.

The moral of the story is that people are assholes - think of yourself first before you think of others.

      • C'est la vie mon ami. Sometimes one is the first to know but always holds back and let the opportunity go by (or be taken by another).

    • As life always is…

  • Got mine today. It seems pretty good so far. Never owned a lenovo before Is it worth keeping all the lenovo bloatware?

  • +1

Anymore T420 stock coming for online order? I hesitated!

  • Anyone notice the screen is grainy/patchy when watching movies?

    • I've read that the screen isn't the best and certain screens can be grainy. http://forum.notebookreview.com/lenovo-ibm/572072-t420-scree…
http://forum.notebookreview.com/lenovo-ibm/581625-lenovo-t42… Haven't received mine yet, so cannot comment personally.

    • I don't find the display grainy but definitely patchy.

It really struggles to replicate anything black and as a result movies look washed out and the colours are all out of whack. The the very narrow viewing angle doesn't help either.

With that said browsing web pages is fine. If it didn't have so many features for the price i'd sell it. All the laptops in the big chains around this price range all seem to suffer from the same problem. Black's just never look black.

  • What kinda battery life are you guys getting? I'm getting 7+ hours from Lenovo Power Manager with an SSD and a fresh install of Windows.

    • out of interest, how do you go about installing windows that comes with the laptop on a new hdd/ssd? I know you can do a reimage by pressing f11 on statup and following the options, but how to do you a clean install as well as onto a new drive?
i think on the t520 i would only get around 4-5 hours. but the power manger reported 7. not sure how accurate it is.

  • Just wish there are some stock left

  • Did anyone notice that the cash back on this model is only $200 now and they have changed the website so that the dates are different?

  • Has anyone received their cashback for this yet? I'm still waiting. :(
