Hey folks, I see Ryzen 3900X locally not going anywhere below $700 locally except for the recent fiasco with FTC. I however started seeing ads for a price drop on Amazon US via some US games sites. When I looked it up last week, the price was $717, yesterday it was $706 when I bought it and now its down to $703.

Please note that you will have to have Prime to get free shipping and that you have to select Amazon US as the seller from the link in the listing page.

Great deal considering this will actually get delivered.

    • i got mine from ftc eventually after waiting a bit over a month, quite a few other people reporting they got theirs too. just took forever

      • I certainly didn't. And they didn't refund me directly either. eBay had to step in.

    • Mine was delivered in about a week, guess its luck of the draw, imo was worth it even if I had to wait for the price.

Wouldn’t be better to buy locally? I mean like $50 difference compared to for an example Scorptec currently having promo $739 + delivery and you get local warranty support ? https://www.scorptec.com.au/product/CPU/AMD-Socket-AM4/77566…

I don't think CPU's fail often enough to pay $50 just for warranty support.

      • I mean if it’s like more than $100 savings, it would be tempting but for $50, it’s probably not that significant, more like 7% discounts only. But each to its own. I bought mine locally after the FTC fiasco and yes cost more but I support local brick and mortar services for such high value item.

All the comments in this thread are valid, and should be factored in - personally I think if my CPU lasts past the one year mark (which is the length of the offered warranty in this case), it will likely last 10 unless there is a manufacturing defect that affects all of them.

On the other hand, if you can wait, the price will definitely drop to close to this amount locally, and you should obviously support local retailers + maybe get bundle deals + additional warranty.

My only caveat here is that I think local retailers are definitely pricing this above normal price / margins due to the demand and hype of this series of AMD CPUs.

          • @bpop99: AMD's warranty is international. The only concern here is price, which is +$100 on the best ever.

Personally, I'd wait if you can.

i never had cpu that fails on me

$50 can go to 3733mhz ram

    • Amazon customer service is top tier, so no issues there. Supporting local is somewhat valid but in this case you’re just paying extra.

  • Price is now $775

    • Its not - please see the steps above in the comments I put on my listing. I missed it at first too - I only realised it when I saw this on some game sites

    • It's still $703. As the OP posted that you have to select Amazon US as the seller not AU.

  • Damn GST. If it wasn't for it, it came out to $630.

  • This is no longer valid. its at $816 at the time of writing. This must be due to exchange rate.
