Looking for a Good Medium Sized Freezer

Not for hoarding food, but, well sort of hoarding.

I bring groceries twice a week because my fridge is small and can't fit much. I figured if I buy a freezer at least I can get two weeks groceries and spare myself the trip where I go in to buy milk and end up paying $60 because of all the candy that's half price.

Still kicking myself for not getting the last one from Aldi for 80 bucks because I wanted to go home and think about it.

Thanks.

  • It isn’t just the cost of the freezer it is how efficient they are to run and the size you want. We got our last one from Costco, it is also worth looking at scratch and dent places.

    Not for hoarding food

The only other choice is that it's a place to hide a body.

A friend helps you move house, a good friend helps you move a body.

You may be luck to find a freezer - radio reports says that shops have sold out.

  • Measure up and buy a bigger fridge lol.. though cavity space and depth can be an issue.. plus $1k compared to say 1 or $200 is quite a difference.

Ive recently had to replace my old one and going from an ok size to a 500L plus top mount fridge/frezer, its great..

I guess this w/e when we do our usual shop, we will find out how good.

  • Buy a bar freezer or fridge/freezer from Gumtree/FB marketplace for approx $50. I have one in my garage which i use the fridge for my beer and freezer for meat and oven food

  • Check out Gumtree. There are heaps on there really cheap. My advice is to get a chest freezer over a door one to stop all the cold air falling out every time you open it.

  • thanks all.
i guess the warranty would be nil with gumtree so I'll see if I can take a chance on a good deal.

    • Hey HunterBargainHunter.

Any links or information on the aldi one like how many litres was it and was it a fridge or just a freezer and chest or upright?

I am looking for a chest freezer for now unless I find out that an upright freezer is cheaper for me somehow in the long run as my food spending habits have been quite crazy in the past few months lots of wasted money going to food with dinners costing me like $30 per night when really I could stuff myself on $12 a night easily and have leftovers.

So yeah any links or information you remember about that aldi freezer?

      • sorry I didn't get the aldi freezer, or any freezer for that matter.
I didn't want to buy something I will regret later so just have to do more shopping atm :)

        • Sounds good.

Especially with a big purchase like a freezer I would probably do some in person researching first at one of the retail outlets before jumping on it unless it gets a lot of praise on youtube or other review websites or forums.

I am trying to find if there is a holy grail or super efficient one that I can just leave downstairs plugged in probably forever.

Might add an extra $200 hopefully max per year which I would be willing to pay for basically easy access to frozen stuff and extra food storage which would ultimately save me having to order delivery making it a very smart choice.
