Grew up on these and chacha Choudary :)

    • +16

Man, anytime we'd visit and take a train, used to grab those Chacha Choudhary's from the vendors…. Couldn't find any last time we were there a couple years ago :(

      • +5

Last time I caught an overnight train I managed to get some, around 2005… In English that time
        And some Archie comics

      • I found Nagaraj and Super Commando Dhruv in the city library. It was epic! Got both issued for a couple of weeks and boy did it feel good.

      • Sir 'Pran' died a few years ago. Don't know if anyone is creating those characters anymore.

    • +4

can we get Chacha Choudhary, Billu, Pinky comics in digital form nowaday?

      • +2

keen to know as well haha

    • +2

Champak and Chandan too! I think Champak had the English version.

  • +4

        • -4

to drive up Villain to nearest Woolies/Coles to hoard on Toilet Rolls

          • -6

            @desparito: no, for basmati rice

            • +9

@hopper: Dont be Feral. You have no business to comment on a post which is of no bargain to you or your family. However, you chose to comment in a r@c1st manner, which only shows how low of a person you are in your thinking. I am not surprised if migrants are still biased to their home country because comments like these show how accepting nature you are to these communities.

              • -2

@desparito: Indians also racist, they gang up in their ghettos suburb near parra, st mary, tallawong, etc. They don't like other non-indians community and doesn't blend to great Australian culture.

I went up to Central coast one time and fellow local told to speak English. It goes well with everyone.

You need to dump all previous culture and assimilate to Aussie way of life if you want to live and stay here. Imo.

Remember Cronulla. Wear Aussie flag on your shoulder, not curry flag. Peace.

                • +3

@[Deactivated]: @blaccdong calm down princess… Easy on those curries that you are having, cant understand what you just scribbled here. Peace lol

      • +16

Every time there is Indian content @OzBargain, there are racists that just can't control their sick feeling. Losers should stay out of OzBargain.

        • +10

This just goes to show, that along with the recent behavior over something as simple as toilet paper, society is overall, full of ferals. as much as we try to hide it, "we" are all just a bunch of racist, angry cavemen.

      • +1

        and with Toilet Rolls too

Thank you OP for the deal. I looked up Sabu and he seems similar to be the Indian version of "He-Man". He has great strength and is usually very gentle unless provoked. I watched a lot of He-Man and the masters of the universe many years ago. Now that I am working from home a lot, I'll try to read these comics too :)

Also I am sorry for some of the throwaway comments that are written in this thread and in yesterday's free food by Saravana Bhavan thread.
In the last few months of extremes like bush fires, floods, Covid-19 one thing society is learning is to show compassion to everyone irrespective of who or what they are.

I am fortunate to work in a place where I interact with a lot of educated people who have migrated to Australia from all over the world and one of the things they always notice is the amount of casual racism us Australians display. To us Australians it is a display of bonding but to most others it is anything but. I'll give you an example: A few days before the work from home thing started, I heard a guy tell an Asian gentleman, "How come at Costco it is always Asians who are hoarding toilet paper". Now I know that he mean't well, but it wasn't perceived well by the other gentleman. Broadly speaking, Australians are good at heart and mean no harm, but their lack of self awareness in some situations is astounding!

Some people also troll on OzB just to get a reaction or because they think it is ok to take their frustration out online because they can get away with it. The moderators of OzBargain do a fantastic job of removing these posts. But I agree, more needs to be done to stop this behaviour

    Thanks for sharing.

    OMG nostalgia

  • +2

Hope they still have a title on Tipu Sulthan. Love ACK!

  • +3

Seems like they weren't as innocent as they seemed to be. Interesting article on the racist stereotypes they subconsciously encouraged
    https://www.theatlantic.com/entertainment/archive/2017/12/th…

    • Infact you are pointing to an article written by racist. Most of these stories are based on moral and it creates more awareness about right and wrong.

    • +2

Thanks for the very interesting read.

    • +2

The article does go on to state how the tone has changed over the decades. I am sure at one point they weren't PC but how many things from the 60s or 70s were?

    • +1

The writer of that column is a well-known leftist. Anything about their own religion and things around it are fine with them but anything that does not conform to their "ideals" is branded the way this article is written.

  • +3

I still remember reading these comics on the train and then in between opening the windows and trying to see the steam engine pulling us and getting bits of coal in my eyes :p

  • +3

    Any bhabhis?

    • NO

    • Ridiculous

  • Thanks OP

Interesting fact: the first ACK title was Jack and the Beanstalk in 1967
The first English title, #11 was Krishna in 1969

  • +10

All the Indians of ozb can be spotted in this post. Great share anyways. 😊

    • True. Enjoyed these when i was a kid :)

  • Super commando Dhruv and Doga were my favourites :)

  • Dumb question but are these in english or indian ?

    • +2

      What’s Indian?

      • ?? Indian language i mean

        • Ah hindi..should have googled.lol

    • +6

Well, India has over 120 languages and 11 of them are spoken by more people than Australia's population (each). There is no language named Indian. English is one of the two official languages, and yes these comics are in English.

Seems like a new Ozbargain.in domain is a demand soon.

    • +1

Not really, we are happy with ozbargain.com.au

  • Thanks OP. Registered and downloaded the app. Works fine on my 7 year old iPad.

  • Wonderful:). Thanks

  • +1

Don’t know when people will get it into their heads, if you don’t like a bargain, move on, don’t feel free to troll your trash all over the place.

Thanks OP, if we are put into lockdown, hopefully these comics will provide some laughter and an avenue to kill time.
