expired Huge Discount on Goldring Headphone Bundles, up to 63% off Our Low Prices!
This was posted 1 year 8 months 10 days ago, and might be an out-dated deal
We just received our newest line of headphones, Goldrings!
They're pretty awesome. Even at RRP they're very nice. At these prices they're ridiculous value.
To top it off, they're comfortable and well made too. The higher up in the range you go the better the earpad material (pleather vs cottony vs velvety stuff) and the more comfy they are around your ears.
You can find reviews of them online quite easily, here's some comparisons so you have an idea what they sound like compared to other headphones out there:

To celebrate and help spread the word, we've created these bundles for you guys.
I personally tested each of these combinations to make sure they work well.
For example the DR100 might be seen as bass-light for some (in truth they have about the same amount as Audio-Technica's offerings, say the AD700), the Hippo Box+ with bass boost switch will make sure everyone's happy. Plus the amp will make sure you get the most out of them.
The Go-Vibe Mini USB DAC is pretty good, makes a hell of a difference compared to the headphone jack of your laptop/motherboard.
All prices include shipping and GST. Express shipping is available for just $5 extra.
No substitutions!
But wait there's more! If you've purchased an earphone from us you can simply top up your old order to get approximately the same price (plus a little bit to cover shipping)!
Find the top up option here: http://www.jaben.com.au/top-up/
This actually makes us lose money, but we certainly don't want you to feel ripped off because a better deal came up…
These prices are unlikely to be repeated, just a way for us to help reintroduce Goldring to Australia!
Due to popular demand, this deal is back for this weekend: http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/51972

the discombobul... on 10/09/2011 - 18:47 ¶I'm actually looking at getting a portable amp as I'm going to get Sennheiser pxc 450s from the states. Been looking through the ones here… any chance on a discount on those? =) Looking at the light portable fluffy things like the Go-Vibe Petite? :) I take it that'll be able to drive the Sennies just fine…
Jaben Australia on 10/09/2011 - 20:00 ¶Hi mate, we might be able to do a small discount on a couple of amps but not the petite unfortunately… It's already quite cheap for what it is
And yes it'll drive the sennheisers with ease. Send me an e-mail at josh@jaben.com.au and I'll see what I can do for you
Jaben Australia on 11/09/2011 - 14:33 ¶HI mate, unfortunately these don't have an integrated mic. The Beyerdynamic MMX-1 does, it's pretty damn good for the price and connects to your computer via usb.

I bought a pair of Hippo VB's about two months ago and have recently upgraded to IE8's. Jaben has great customer service and extremely helpful. I recommend the VB's as the value you get is truly amazing.
Do you have any foam tips for the IE8's?
How does the DR-150 compare with Shure 440/840?
Jaben Australia on 11/09/2011 - 14:31 ¶Hi mate, we do have comply tips for the IE8, send us an e-mail to purchase them. They're $6 per pair and comes in S, M and L.
The DR150 compare very favourably to other headphones in the pricerange.I personally think the DR50 is more comparable to the Shure 440 and the DR150 is better than the 840.
But then again it's kind of an unfair comparison as open headphones are usually better value than closed

Jaben Australia on 11/09/2011 - 14:27 ¶China… Most headphones are. The only brand I can think of where they manufacture a lot of their line outside of China is Beyerdynamic, which are made in Germany.
That said, this thing is built like a tank and has an easily replacable cable (cable is the most likely thing to die first) so should live for a long time.
+1 voteJaben Australia on 11/09/2011 - 15:02 ¶Hi mate, the higher the impedence the harder it is to drive, but potentially better sounding if you have a sufficient amp to drive them!
Basically 32ohm is fine without an amp, the 600 NEEDS a dedicated amp and the 250 is versatile enough for both. That said an amp will improve the sound of any of them!I'd suggest going for the $499 bundle for the best value. Feel free to send me an e-mail or give me a call if you'd like more info! My contact details are on the site.

Looking at this bundle http://www.jaben.com.au/goldring-dr-100-introduction-bundle/
It looks awesome but any chance of swapping the Hippo Shroom EB with Hippo Shroom i instead? Thanks

How about this, if you're willing to top up $10 I'm happy for you to do it.
After ordering, say it in the comments box and send the $10 to josh@jaben.com.au via paypal.

Mm… I'm really tempted to buy the DR150s but just wondering on the comfort level of them. Alot of the reviews have mixed views on this, but currently I'm getting the idea that it doesn't have the best comfort. Comfort will definitely be an issue for me, so still considering based on that.
How comfortable it would be would differ for everyone since everyone's got a different shaped and sized head.
So just wondering on…
Does the DR150 have a tight fit?
Does it loosen up -alot-? (My head is wide :( lol)
And whoever has a wider head size that have the DR150, what are you opinions?
Jaben Australia on 11/09/2011 - 22:26 ¶I have quite a big head…
I think they're on the comfortable side compared to other headphones in the price range. The discomfort is definitely not due to tightness of the fit, but probably the material of the pad. I personally have no problem with it but it's certainly not a luxurious leather material like you'd get on more expensive headphones.

These look pretty interesting, however I was considering getting a set of RE0's and Comply foam tips from headphones.com.au. Whats the equivalent set here?
I should mention I'm looking for something with a small phone size as I'd like to use them under my motorcycle helmet, also bass would be good too :)
Jaben Australia on 13/09/2011 - 11:12 ¶Hi mate,
I'd suggest going with something small that'll sit flush with a cable that goes behind your ears like the Shure SE210. The RE0 might work fine, but you'll have difficulty putting your helmet on without it popping off.

Goldrings are good value.
Another line that's cheaper with excellent sound is the Superlux (made in Taiwan).
One of them is reviewed here:
Jaben Australia on 13/09/2011 - 11:11 ¶Glad it arrived safely!
The Hippo Box+ is a headphone amplifier, put it between your headphone and your ipod/computer and it'll improve the sound.
The mini USB DAC is basically an external soundcard to bypass the computer's (usually crappy) internal one.Let me know how you go with the amp! If you've got time to put up a short review on our site we'd much appreciate it =)
