    • Genius. I want confirmation on this

      • No good, tafensw.net.au

        • +2

tafensw.net.au works, i use my tafe email for most of those sites.

        • Didnt work for me with Samsung :((

          • +1

@thecheapskate: Can confirm that tafensw.net.au emails work with Samsung Edu store.

          • @thecheapskate: My Tafe email works With Samsung education store and unidays

    • What about MS Office?

      • +1

    • All the children are being given .edu emails for google classrooms - I wonder if I can use my kids ones for discounts. What’s something I can try it out on?

      • register for unidays

      • +1

I use my kid's email for Office365, so far no problem

    • Anyone have a link to all the .edu deals?

      • Yeah, keen to know what else is available.
Can confirm Samsung Edu accepts nswtafe email address.

    • would this email work with apple education store ?

  • Free for all? No fee at all?

Which have been for a while and is almost a duplicate for the just released Covid ones above…thanks so much NSW govt! And yet Victorians can get a whole Diploma of Nursing for free*.

      • Different courses in the link provided. Not the same. Not free unless eligible either so it's worth noting that there are more courses available

      • +6

Most, if not all of these courses are really basic. If the gov really want people to upskill, and perhaps have increased opportunities to get a job, they should release Cert IV or higher courses.

  • +2

Does signing up grant you a @tafensw.edu.au ? if so then thats a bargain itself 🤔🤔

    • tafensw.net.au

    • -1

Confirm, it get tafensw.net.au which doesnt work for discounts.

      • +1

It's worked for every discount I've ever tried.

      • Works for me

    • +9

While I understand the urge for a bargain. Just signing up for the edu email enmase, ruins the good intention. Good thing they are giving only .net.au emails out.

      • it also gives the much under-funded TAFE colleagues funding for each registrant.
Of course it's not like the NSW govt waste money, like say $830m on a single footy stadium.

apparently the email address is pretty much as good as a edu.au email

  • +1

Hopefully the other states follow suit

  • what about language courses?

    • -2

      Mandarin perhaps? :p

    • Try Duolingo app.

  • +1

Have we got any equivalent offers for Victorians?

    • ..but you work in NSW dont you. These courses are not up to much. Ok for overview.

Here is the Victorian free TAFE link https://www.vic.gov.au/free-tafe

(Also, for future reference, is it possible to link commments or tag users?)

  • Can you sign up for multiple or finish one and go on to another?

  • What the heck is a Unique Student Identifier? Is that a newish thing that's been introduced, because I certainly don't remember getting one when I was last studying

    • +3

Been around for quite a few years now

      • +1

I'm definitely out of the loop then! Oh well, best to create one now then

  • Has anyone ever done one of these Statements of Attainment and afterwards pursued a full diploma/cert, or found the information useful to life or scoring a job?

I've finished a cert before and the early parts felt like going back to primary school but with adult-oriented topics.

    • studied a couple of free tax "statement of attainment"s - recognised by the TPB so helped me got my tax agent registration

      • Thanks. What would have been the alternative learning route with the TPB? Did you still have to study another 90% somewhere else at cost?

        • Yes but the rest is the more fundamental stuff so you should have studied it in the uni if you were planning for a tax career. TAFE took care of the two units that were the more advanced ones required by the TPB so that's pretty good (cheapest alternative I could find was $600 per unit at some training institution)

Here is the Victorian free TAFE link https://www.vic.gov.au/free-tafe

    • I think it should be distinguished that these courses are free not because of COVID-19 but because Victoria is simply the best state in Australia.

      • +6

        You spelt most miserable wrong

  • +6

Tried to activate the temporary account but stuck at the Validation step, never received the security code. Has anyone experienced the same thing?

    • Yep same for me

    • same

    • same for me

    • Same for me.

    • Same, tried multiple times

    • Same for me, anyone know what to do?

    • Had the same issue, now it gives me a "redirect" error.
Contacted Tafe on the chat and they told me you should receive an email in a few days and it's a "known issue". Extremely frustrating because I don't know if I'm enrolled or not. If someone gives them a call please update.
      Thanks!

      • +1

Only until you receive an email saying you're enrolled, they'll resend you a link to activate your account. From there you should receive a code to activate.

took me nearly a week to complete

      • Statement of Detainment for being non-white.

        • +1

          do you have that attainment?

  • Good stuff thank you !

  • I'm not quite sure I have the time to commit to the full excel course, is it possible to partially complete it so I am still able to get something out of it?

    • You'll get a transcript for the unit completed but not a one page statement of attainment.

  • Is the @tafensw.net.au email eligible for a student Opal card?

    • -3

      Yes

    • Don’t you also need the concession card that goes along with it though?

    • +2

No, you need to be a F/T student with a TAFE photo student card.

    • That’s not how it works …

    • +2

      Not for online courses

    • can someone please confirm? i'm keen for half price opal travel too

  • +3

Can we do as many courses (listed for free) as we want? Might apply for a few of them but a lot of them say 11-23 weeks, not sure if I can complete while working full-time.

  • any free courses from TAFE SA?

  • I'm trying to enrol for one of these courses but it's not sending me a security code to activate my account.

Did anyone else have the same issue?

    • Yep. As above

      • the same issue, can't seem to enrol…

  • What's Unique Student Identifier?

  • +2

Account activation of TAFE didn't send me the code to my email, I've tried it for 10 times.

    • Same here

    • Same here, no activation code yet

      • I called them today, since I m international student they asked me for these:

        1. VISA Grant Notice
        2. Verified copy of your passport signed by a Justice of the Peace
        • I called them, no one answer.
I waited in the queue as 144th person, waited for an hour, I chatted with the online support, they said they can't activate acccount through the Chat, and asked me to call.
I called again, no one answer.
I still kept the Chat window, I told them on one answer, they said they will log an enquiry and there will be someone contact me shortly.
And… I actually logged an enquiry already yesterday and no one contact me until now.

          lol… what should I do now, TAFE !!! ???? :))

          • @taron: I had the same problem yesterday but was able to register today. I got a enrolment email too.

            • @desparito: @desparito Thanks. I think I will try at 1am then. :)

            • @desparito: How long until you received the enrolment email?

              • @Brschembri: @Brschembri i got the email next day after applying.. However i didnt receive @tafensw.edu.au email id so had to use my personal id for verification.

    • The first activation process right after you applied for a course, is a fake one. meaning you won't receive any codes.

Only until you receive an email saying you're enrolled, they'll resend you a link to activate your account. From there you should receive a code to activate.

took me nearly a week to complete

  • Can you actually get a job with any of these qualifications or are they too basic?

    • +1

Statement of Attainment is like a gold star from your teacher in kindy.

They are usually a very small part of a bigger certificate. If you want to polish up, or learn a little of something new then these are good. On their own you wont land a job that needs the full certificate, but its more than nothing and could help you out a little.

      • thanks, better than nothing right.

  • +1

i rang up today as i was certified in tafe years ago so i had to ring up to get my details moved into the digital tafe.
i got told you can only enrol/complete two of these courses.

  • +3

They have changed the courses! Wanted to do:
Statement of Attainment in eMarketing for Small Business (900-80812V01)
Statement of Attainment in Engaging Customers Using Social Media (900-80813V01)
And they've removed them from the list! >=(

    • me too, for those 2… :(

    • Statement of Attainment in Team Leader Skill Set (BSBSS00063R1-V01)

      Gone too
