AustPost Samsung J800 Bling Pre-Paid Virgin Clearance $29. Bris CBD +Tweed Heads + Cooloongatta

30

Was at cooloongatta and tweed heads last weeks and saw auspost shops clearing out these samsung J800 bling prepaid virgin phones for $29. bought one in Bris GPO yesterday. could be in other austpost offices, but who knows.

sure they are old (2008) but perfect for someone who wants a relatively inexpensive mobile phone for just texting/talking with a 2mp camera.

I unlocked the one I bought for $6 online.

specs from samsung-

when i activated the phone + sim I got a $180 credit. nice. use that up and then I will put in a TPG $9.99 sim. sweet.

I reckon this phone is better than the nokia 2220 (vodaphone locked) that is on sale at coles for $24.59

PLEASE NOTE URL LINK SHOULD BE http://www.austpost.com.au/ NOT http://www.austopost.com.au/
people may get confused.
Mods- can you fix this please. thanks

  • Seems okay, I prefer the Nokia 2220 - unlockable online for free, better camera, and IMO better durability.

    • U sure 2220 has better camera? VGA vs 2MP (Samsung)?

    • Please post the link to get unlock code. I have tried twice on my mum 2220 phone (once from an online calculator and once from a downloaded software) but both failed so I may have one more try to go before it locked.

      • Ahh damn, I never noticed the "6"220. Bummer, that would've been a good deal.

And rep you posted an invalid linke. Austopost…

      • I unlocked my previous japan vodaphone mobile with a unlocksim from DX. $3ish. whacked it in with the non-vodaphone sim and bam -unlocked!

    • how do u unlock it for free? could you please give me links.cheers

I haven't actually used it, but apparently it works.

    • may be for the 2220s (slide)

    • i used this calculator before but doesnt work

  • I have a J800 and was wondering where you were able to get it unlocked for $6.00.

    • i tried unlockers.com (or similar site). but 3 days after I posted they wrote back saying they couldn't do it. bit peeved. I bought it for my wife who just wants a phone, text function and reasonable camera. so just using virgin sim for now and then will get them to unlock for free after $60. then go amysim.

I tried the phone with an unlock sim chip and an amysim sim. it only half worked. it recognised the sim but couldn't locate the network.
