Free Cheeseburger for Healthcare Workers @ McDonald’s

1340

McDonald's McDonald’s Mildura & Irymple has further extended their Small McCafe & Medium Soft Drink offer for our healthcare workers to now include Cheeseburgers.

Redeemable in-restaurant or drive-thru.

Who is a healthcare worker?
Anyone working in our hospitals/medical centres caring for patients:

Paramedics, doctors, nurses
General practioners
Pathology, Aged care and Home Care workers.
Healthcare workers need to be in official uniform, show hospital ID cards or business card.

A big thank you to our frontliners for your continued support during this pandemic!

Update 23 April 2:30pm: McDonald's employees claim that the offer is meant to be nationwide, yet from comments and reports, not every store is honouring this offer (yet).
Please note that this deal is very poorly marketed by McDonald's, however our employee portal specifically states that this deal is active - please ask for the manager if the employees do not know about this promotion

My local Maccas franchises have always provided free food to the police here for years.

    • NONONO…you better take it back.

It'll only be fair they're doing their share and doing it to the best of their abilities :)

    • Not sure if sarcasm or not. I hope it is.

      • -8

so much hate for police in this thread… unbelievable…

they have a much harder job than health care workers yet are being ignored in most of these offers.

I'm guessing Andrew Wilson and Brendan Murphy can claim this though…

    • +8

How about some free cheeseburgers for our police force McDonald's… They're doing it a big harder today than the nursers sitting around the water cooler at our local clinic which is pretty much empty these days

My god there are some complete weirdos on this site

      • -2

My god there are some complete weirdos on this site

Tell us a bit more about you then…

Maybe in a forum topic though, this thread is to discuss cheesburgers for nurses.

        • +11

No thanks. As a normal person, I'm not against the idea of a megacorporation giving a free $2 burger to healthcare workers during a pandemic, that's all.

          • @tre180:

            As a normal person

We can see by your avatar…

        • +1

Don't worry about that negative nancy JV - some of us like your antics.

    • +2

Empty cos they were contingency planning for the COVID in case number of infected and needing hospitalisation spiked. Or tested for it.

      Get a grip.

    • What have you been doing down at the local clinic jv?

      • -2

        It's that rash that won't go away…

        • Why does that sound familiar, JV?

      • What have you been doing down at the local clinic jv?

        checking out the nurses

    • +1

24-hours limit for voting negative on comments is currently capped at 5.

      ahhhhh poop! :(

    • +1

Wow you have no insight, police/paramedics have had maccas freebies or 50% off etc, prior to pandemic even..

    • why does this guy randomly make words bold for no reason

      • not random and you should've bolded no instead of reason…

  • -2

That's not a big thank you but free is free so yay 🤷‍♂️

    • It was a personal acknowledgement, not one because Macca's is giving free cheeseburgers.

    • -3

That's not a big thank you

Yeah, free big macs might send Maccas bankrupt…

  • +2

Mildura & Irymple only or all Maccas?

    • +1

all macca's. Only referenced to Mildura & Irymple because it was the only social media post the moderators were able to find. Poor marketing, the cheeseburger is not displayed on its website or own social media handle anywhere.

      • It’s definitely not all maccas. I saw the post yesterday (which was later deleted by the mod due to not enough information). My husband tried (he’s a doctor), and there was no free cheeseburger on offer, only the free drinks.

        • +2

My husband tried (he’s a doctor), and there was no free cheeseburger on offer, only the free drinks.

Bloody Macca's, turning away another hungry doctor. I hope he was able to find free food somewhere.

          • +2

@dm01: The point is, this offer is not available at all maccas

            • @magster: Yup. Post reported and should be deleted again as OP is providing false information.

        • If he's a Dr he has enough money to buy the cheese burger…

          • +5

@Slippery Fish: Why does everyone think doctors must be rolling in cash? He has a bigger debt than me after med school. And I’ve been stood down from work, so our family income still has been impacted.

            • -2

              @magster:

Why does everyone think doctors must be rolling in cash?

Because they of how much they charge perhaps ???

              • +5

@jv: Have you ever sat with a doctor and done the math? I actually have, as one of my clients is one (I fix her PC).

Lets say they charge $100 on top of the $3X Medicare payment
lets be generous and round that math up to $150.

Statistically, non bulk billers get long appointments so lets say in a typical 8 hour day, they see 10 patenits.

So, we make $1500 a day before tax.

Then you have safety equipment, reception staff, reception consumables (paper, sanitizer, toner etc), in-house testing equipment, cleaning (expensive for medical locations), maintenance of monitoring equipment, rent in a 'prime location, not to mention any good doctor will continue to upskill (mine does) so he constantly has education fees, despite being one of the most qualified in the state.

Ive seen 'the books' for more than just my client, in the medical industry.

you're fair to say they are 'well off' but rolling in it

Your average middle to upper management position would be making more take-home dollars, usually.

                • -4

                  @MasterScythe:

                  done the math?

Yep, our GP gets $80 for 10 mins.

Kids's allergist got $300 x 2 to do allergy tests on my kids (5 mins each)

                  • @jv: Well, hand in your Ozb licence, because you're seeing a ripoff.

I personally have seen an allergist and immunologist, both free at my local hospital.
And both voluntary, for extreme hayfever.

Also, that is genuinely a very high GP rate, you'll find bulk billers exist for 'free' also, if the issue is minor enough that a 10min visit will fix it.

I only see my $100 an hour GP if its something I cant self diagnose and then just confirm with a bulk biller.

You're not shopping the best bargain here, sorry!

Also, you have done the math?
Were they really that forthcoming with their myob details to a usual client? Or is it a family friend.

                    • +1

                      @MasterScythe:

Well, hand in your Ozb licence,

                      It's tattooed…

I personally have seen an allergist and immunologist, both free at my local hospital.

prefer to see a local one where we choose the doctor and not wait 6 months for an appointment.

                • @MasterScythe: As a doctor myself, this is incorrect.

            • +1

@magster: I know about 10 doctors personally, none are hurting for a coin. If he is that comes down to decisions he has made.

I hope things get better for you soon.

Edit: also I wouldn't call being able to afford a cheeseburger rolling in it.

              • @Slippery Fish: Not saying we can’t afford a cheeseburger. Why are we all on Ozb then if it’s not for the deals?

  • +5

yeah, unhealthy food for health workers who should be healthy

    • +6

Just because you are a healthworker doesn't mean you are(or have to be) any healthier than the next person.

      • +8

Exactly - that'd be like expecting a police officer to abide by the same laws they enforce on the job. Oh wait…

        • Ridiculous example. That doesn't make sense.

            • +2

@dm01: Everyone has to abide by the law, especially the police force. Nurses, doctors etc can do what they want healthwise. Of course it's ideal but it is not a prerequisite for them to be fit and healthy to perform their job.

              • +1

                @nepalesesquirrel:

Nurses, doctors etc can do what they want healthwise.

From the "modern" Hippocratic Oath —

"…I will prevent disease whenever I can, for prevention is preferable to cure."

From the WMA DECLARATION OF GENEVA —

"…I WILL ATTEND TO my own health, well-being, and abilities in order to provide care of the highest standard;"

I realise not all healthcare workers make one of these pledges or necessarily take them seriously, but unhealthy healthcare workers is more than just a little ironic.

                • @dm01: I'm hungry now.

                  • @nepalesesquirrel: I am too. Wanna split a pizza?

                    • @dm01: Was thinking of getting the nurses uniform out and getting a free cheeseburger meal minus the chips.

                      • @nepalesesquirrel: I just had a toasted sandwich so am okay for the next few hours. Your plan has merit, though.

                        • @dm01: Tbh my partner is a nurse and so far has not taken McD up on 1 freebie yet, even with my encouragement! I did get some free socks from her though as a gift as she is a woman and the deal was for men's socks, so I win.

                          • +1

@nepalesesquirrel: I saw the socks deal. Kinda sucks they didn't make smaller sizes available for the women, though. Because I know how many of my exes ended up getting cold feet…

              • +1

                @nepalesesquirrel:

Everyone has to abide by the law, especially the police force.

Nah, rules don't apply to them. They are above the law because who is there to enforce the law on them.

                • @No ONE: Like that footy umpire who took that mark. Bloody hilarious, that was.

    • +1

Calcium, protein, dairy and carbs, isnt all that unhealthy my dude.

If you need a low salt or sugar diet, probably not for you, but unless you have special requirements a cheeseburger isnt all that bad.

      • +2

Finally someone with logic and facts lol.

    • They should of done with a Burger that had salad or maccas salads (and yes I know the dressing is not good!!!).

Created a Mc Mini (like a whopper Jnr) Free for medicos and if public order some $ donation to provide more free burgers!

      Now that deserves a upvote!!

  • +2

Am I dreaming- I feel this is the third time I have seen this posted (In OPs defence, I can't find the others now)

May ask what happened to the two other times this was posted?

    • The other post was removed because of not enough details / too early etc etc.

      • Thats what happened to the first a few days back as well.
Personally this has the same amount of info as yesterdays

Either thanks OP. Hopefully yours survives and the deal is gettable

        • It has no more info than yesterday’s post and another person in this thread has confirmed not available at all stores. This post needs to be deleted again.

    • +1

Moderators couldn't find information about the deal anywhere, but eventually they found it on a franchisee's Facebook page; allowing me to post a new deal.

      • We don't want McDonalds lawyers contacting us or users for putting out incorrect information.
      • We found an official post last night on McDonald's Mildura FB page which satisfied the above.
      • We've seen an internal memo that states it is for McDonalds everywhere but can't publish internal documents.

So we're in a situation where it definitely is happening at some locations but have nothing official to point to all locations. Currently investigating.

      freecheeseburgergate

      • -1

We don't want McDonalds lawyers contacting us or users for putting out incorrect information.

In that case should we refrain from further speculation on the nutritional value of (a particular split-bun enclosed meat & vegetable type food with a slice of cheese as its namesake)?

      • -1

I guess what I'm asking is…if I use the term 'cholesterol-soaked-cancer-&-asbestos-bovine-murder-depression-burger', might I get in trouble?

  • Yay, one cheeseburger. Do they get the free coffee and soft drink as well? That would be worth it.

    • Seems like yes according to the post

    • +1

Yes 1 burger + drink per maccas, if you happen to go past 3 or 4 maccas on the way home then it's definitely worth it.

      • So you normally eat 4 cheeseburgers and 4 small drinks? Solid effort.

    • Hopefully they can get the option of a flat white (McCafe), capa, tea, etc and not just maccas black coffee (and YES i like Maccas black coffee).

  • Just enjoy your free burger, it is free, what more do you want? SMH ha

  • -2

But not cleaners, ambo drivers, researchers, etc.

    • +3

      ambo drivers? you mean Paramedics?

      • +2

        lol gg

    • +1

Cleaners? You mean Viral And Bacterial Eradication Warriors?

  • +3

I think the biggest irony that everyone is missing on is that Medical practitioners have been warning people from eating McDonald's for years. LOL..

Kinda entrapment for them to be hypocritical to that idealology.

    • Maybe re: the burger. What about the coffee? Tea?

    • I disagree. All of them have been warning about balance and diet.

Id argue theyve been warning about having maccas too often, not just once or twice. And especially of you're on your way to a high intencity shift with lots of carb burning.

    • Medical practitioners =/= nurses tho. Quite a few nurses I know or have met have been very overweight and seem to care less about their own health than others in their industry… drinking heavily, eating unhealthy foods etc.
So this offer is perfect for them.

      • +1

So this offer is perfect for them.

        :-|

    • its 1 burger

  • +4

Maccas needs to spring for Big Macs

    • +1

Agreed. Cheeseburger not even entree size.

    • big macs are just double cheese burgers.. tiny as hell!

go hungry jacks!! spring for whoppers!

  • +1

My Facebook friend will be looking for tic tok videos with dancing nurses and free burgers.

  • If maccas is near a hospital…send 100 coffees down to them or take 50 cheeseburgers down to them

    • +3

      Who are you talking to?

      • +4

        Theoretical macdonalds staff/franchisee; I imagine

        • Nah, I imagine it's the same health care worker, or a pair working together in multiple trips. One strategy sees them testing the per person limit, but another sees them donning ever more ingenious disguises.

Saying that, I would imagine taking 100 cheeseburgers would be more efficient than 100 hot, spillable drinks. Like the saying goes, "you can run with a cheeseburger but you can't with a coffee".
