[SUBS] Disney Pixar Animated Film: "Onward" Available on Disney Plus (Subscription Required)

12518

$6.99 to rent on all other services (as it's a new release).

Disney's "Onward" Movie Free on Disney+. Yes I know it's a subscription service but obtain a free trial.

I totally agree with some of the comments raised about this being a deal, but my Wife and I were hanging for this to be released for rental and I got excited when Disney offered it up for free (albeit with a sub)

Teenage elf brothers Ian and Barley embark on a magical quest to spend one more day with their late father. Like any good adventure, their journey is filled with cryptic maps, impossible obstacles and unimaginable discoveries. But when dear Mom finds out her sons are missing, she teams up with the legendary manticore to bring her beloved boys back home.

Users who wish to block "Additions to Subscription Services" can do so by adding SUBS to their front page/new deals customisation. * Xbox Game Pass, Netflix, Hulu, Disney Plus are considered additions to subscription services.

Disney's Onwards Movie Free on Disney+. Yes I know it's a subscription service but obtain a free trial

    Nice title

    • +2

haha its pretty funny, clearly has seen too much backlash on [SUBS] posts haha

      • -7

I got banned from posting deals for posting the Traylor Swift documentary when it was new on Netflix and the last episode on Power when i was available on Stan. I'm not allowed to post those deals anymore so we should stop.

Was about to neg this deal but I'm banned from negging till May 3rd.

    • Post updated, got sidetracked

      • They meant the "Yes I know it's a subscription service but obtain a free trial" part, not the misspelling of the name of the movie.

    Currently waiting for Mulan

    • -1

It'll probably get delayed again for its theatre release so who knows how long it'll take to be on D+.

  • Cute! Thanks for the heads up.

  • Good movie

  • +1

Great film, definitely worth a watch. One of Disney/Pixar's better films in recent years.

    • +1

Really? I mean it’s good but..,

    • +7

Coco and Inside Out were both excellent, no?

      • +2

they were, this one reminded me of coco in a lot of ways actually

      • Inside out was meh, Coco was good though.

  • Thanks, watching ATM

  • This is a great movie!

  • +37

Good movie, but is this really a deal? I wouldn't expect someone to post something that's new on Netflix or Stan or Prime that aren't available on other platforms and then call that a deal.

    • +2

I don’t see how this post is any different that the xbox / playstation games post every month

      • +4

Which is why none of these should be posted as deals. As much as I love Gamepass, I don't understand the mods and their arbitrary ways of deciding things. All it does is cause confusion and make you question who runs this site. If you post a Netflix show as a deal, they'll delete it, and you'll get a strike for trolling. It's really pathetic.

        • I got banned from posting deals for a while cos i posted a netflix show (the Taylor swift documentary) and the last episode of Power on Stan.

I think the number of downvotes you gets they take into conciderarion. If it gets a lot of upvotes it means it helped alot of ppl and ppl appreciate so no ban.

Did the mods give you an explanation as to why it was trolling?

          • -2

@Bryanalves: They don't give an explanation. It looks like it's just at their discretion. I posted The Witcher series on Netflix when it was coming out. TBH, I was trolling to make a point. New series, 'free' on Netflix. No different to this post. One is considered trolling while the other is OK. The inconsistency reflects poorly on the mods, and it really makes them seem unprofessional, IMO.

As much as I think Red Dead Redemption II on Gamepass is fantastic value, for the sake of consistency, I wouldn't allow it as a deal.

            • -1

@manbearpig: I also posted Witcher netflix deal and got deleted for trolling. Then i posted the Taylor Swift documentary (nexflix) and last episode of Power (stan). Then i got banned for making deals.

So i asked for another chance because i was not warned that this could happen (getting banned for posting subscription deals) so i promised i won't and also not post controversial deals and they gave me a chance.

              • @Bryanalves: There’s some difference to that though . Witchers for example are exclusive to Netflix and you can’t buy or rent anywhere else. Whereas Onwards are available for rent or purchase in many places. If someone didn’t know about this deal they could’ve spent money on it without realising its available on Disney+ at better value. The difference I see with this deal is it could potentially help people spend less than they might’ve otherwise. Also, since this is a rather new movie so it was not expected to be released this early too.

              • +1

@Bryanalves: Yes, it's pretty ridiculous to be banned for posting deals. If someone sees a subscription addition being posted as a deal and not being removed (like this one), how are they supposed to know what is allowed and what isn't when they decide to post something? Then they get banned? Where's the line? It's all arbitrary and causes nothing but confusion and neverending debates.

        • +1

Exactly. If you're already a paid subscriber for a service, then you're getting what you paid for. Just because an item is added to a service catalogue doesn't make it a DEAL!! If the deal is for a DISCOUNT on said service, then that's the deal. So many of these posts belong in the forums or as a CSA..

IMO this site really needs to show / highlight quality deals. I'm amazed to see posted items with so many votes. IE: "Tim Tams, .50c off a packet". Sorry but so what?! May as well post every item in the Aldi/Coles/Woolies weekly catalogue.

          • +1

            @Maz78:

May as well post every item in the Aldi/Coles/Woolies weekly catalogue

            That does happen already

    • +3

      Agreed.

But what about the free advertising Borderlands gets?
Giving "free keys". Attention whoring non-product, dished-out to keep eyes on them.

      • +2

Yep. 70+ votes for some game giving away "keys". How the hell is that a Bargain / Deal??

        • So if a game balances your weapon to make it stronger then also deal?

  • -1

Cool, let's start adding every new movie/series to paid subscription services and call them bargains.

    • +11

It got a rushed release due to Covid. Worth noting. Lighten up.

      • -7

Get real and find a deal.

      • +6

Exactly, you gotta allow for the context of this deal. This was going to be a big release for Disney.

  • +5

For real tho, this really isn't a deal.

  • +2

Targeted to those that have not used the free trial?

  • +12

If a month subscription is cheaper than standard rental, then it is a deal.

Otherwise this is just advertising for a subscription service.

  • +12

doesn't that make every movie on every streaming service "free"?

  • +4

Is this free to own or just while subscription is active?

    • +1

You get to go to dinner with the voice actors after you've watched it, they pick up the tab.

      • +4

I see. That should be the deal posted.

        • +1

Seriously though, it isn't difficult to turn off subs posts. I don't understand all the fuss.

          • @[Deactivated]: Because some subs I care about and some I don’t. If I could say turn on Netflix and off Xbox PlayStation and Disney then that would be nice.

            • +1

@Elijha: So the subs you care about should be valid deals on the website but the ones you don't shouldn't be posted because obviously not deals?

              • +1

@Bryanalves: I’m just saying why simply unsubscribing from All subs is not the answer.

  • +6

paying subscription to watch a recently added movie, game-changer deal or is it not 🤔

  • +5

Why was the other post deleted for 'trolling' yet this one remains up? Talk about inconsistency…

    • +1

Mustnt have put [SUBS] at the start

  • Thanks for the heads up OP, but for some reason it is coming up as "requested media is not available" for me and I have a subscription. Am I missing something?

    • Should be on the main page of the app, if that fails try the search function. I got notification direct from Disney email

  • Thanks but as I mentioned in previous comment I got that message which is weird. I might check if app needs updating , that's all I can think of.
Edit: Ok changed from my daughter's profile to mine and it came straight up, must be due to pg rating.

  • +3

Thanks for the head's up, but clearly not a deal

  • +4

Just announced - One Piece is coming to Netflix on June 12.

  • Not a deal when you have to pay for a subscription in the first place.

  • +2

Requires a subscription. Not a deal.

    • +2

There are at least 5 subscriptions deals this month that have reach front page.

  • +3

This isn't a deal, and there is inconsistency with similar deals being marked as trolling and this one being accepted. This is not a deal.

    Merriam Webster dictionary (see 1.c):

    deal noun (1)

Definition of deal (Entry 2 of 4)

    1 business
a: an act of dealing (see DEAL entry 1 sense 4) : TRANSACTION
    big corporate deals
    a real estate deal

    b: CONTRACT sense 1a
    signed a 2-year deal

    c: BARGAIN
got a great deal on a new TV

    • This is a movie that would be in the cinemas right now and would be extremely popular, how many months worth of Disney plus could you get for the price of taking your family to see this movie at the cinema?

      • Its not in the cinema

        • +1

No but it would be if the cinemas were open

  • +1

    Nice deal bro

  • +2

Users who wish to block "Additions to Subscription Services" can do so by adding SUBS to their front page customisation.

I can't find out how to filter these crappy "deals" even from looking at the linked page. Any ideas? Do we add "SUBS" as a tag to filter out? This deal isn't even tagged with "SUBS"…

EDIT: Just realised it's in the title… Doesn't that mean each poster has to knowingly do it or is it somehow be applied automatically?

  • Fairly good, like most Pixar films. Watched it on Disney+ a few weeks ago with a VPN.

  • No deal…

  • +1

Can I add frozen 2 as a deal..

    • +1

No cos it'll probably get marked as trolling.

  • +1

So what? All Amazon prime or Netflix exclusive series or movie can be considered as deal? Weird one..

  • +4

Whinge, whinge, whinge. The people on here are seriously the worst.

OP didn't have to post this, he's not getting a cut. If you're not interested keep scrolling!

Let those -1 reign down on me

  • +3

A new movie to a subscription platform isn't really a deal.

  • Thanks for letting us know OP, will watch later today as we missed out due to the cinemas shutting down

  • +4

    Belongs in the forums

  • +3

It's free after I pay for it.. A lot of things will be free by that means..

  • +2

Thanks OP. Will check it out but agree it probably should be a forum post.

  • +6

Guys, did you know that if you pay for a hotel room with breakfast included, the breakfast is free? Normally you have to pay like $12 for it!

    • +2

Free continental breakfast gets me every time. Only $120 for the room and that juice and toast is totally free!

  • +5

Voting positive because so many people are butthurt over a kids film which couldn't be seen at the cinemas is now free via streaming service that the target market probably already has.
