Haven't heard great things about tecobuy, but mainly just about cancellations and slow delivery.

Uh…with what you said, why would you still put their product up as a deal to our community?

    • Lol :D

Tecobuy are a DWI/eGlobal owned site FYI:

        dwidigitalcameras.com
        eglobalbeauty.com.au
        eglobalcentralau.com
        eglobaldigitalcameras.com.au
        tobydealsau.com
        tecobuy.com

looking at that i have bought an embarassing large amount of crap from these guys over the years esepcially dwi eglobal

my experiences have been that shipping is slower than i'd like but i havent had a dud product or no deliver as yet

        • Really? I've had great experiences with Toby Deals.

Horrid delays and communication with Tecobuy though.

    • Because it's still a good deal, just with the warning. I ordered from TobyDeals which is supposedly the same place, took a couple weeks with limited tracking updates but the phone arrived (Note8T-128GB) and it's great.

      • Maybe I will give them a try one day when I have something a bargain yet I dont need it urgently

  • Is it Global version?

    • +2

I have this phone since Xmas it is great value for the money.
Yes the 8T model is the Global version has B28 and NFC.
Mine is on the March firmware update they usually update firmware every couple of months so far.
I can not vouch for seller as I bought it elsewhere.

      • Is it slow or not? I am considering selling my Pocophone and buying one.

      • Any idea how is this compared to Mi 9T? I'm waiting for better price on 9T but if there isn't much difference I'll get this. I'm an average user common apps like WhatsApp, FB etc. NFC is there in both anything else I'll miss out when compared to 9T?

  • Don't doubt this deal, however you can still get a TCL plex on ebay for about this price, and it's got a 675 vs this 665.

    • TCL Plex ugh.
Smashed the screen through a small drop though replacement is costing more than original through TCL. Can't source one myself through other sources and can't find other spare parts not accessories. Had I had a decent case in the first place, the screen would still be alive. Moreover, had microphone issues prior.
      So frustrating.

  • Its a toss of the dice with teco, toby, it either comes quick or doesn't come at all ordered 2 Redmi Note 8pro a week apart identical 1st one in 9 days 2nd month of lies and had to open PayPal dispute to get money back.

Its only cheap cos they dodge gst, but they will get caught out sooner or later n end users gonna get hit with gst..

    • Did you order from Teco or Toby?

    • It is optional for international sellers shipping to aust to pay gst.
The end user will not be asked to pay the gst. Import duty is another thing.

  • Toby but same company same place, they have had many names, when Ato catches them they shut up office open new website

    • Omg scary looking at the reviews. I'm waiting for my note 8 delivery from Toby which is currently in transit. Hope I get it soon.

      • If ya got a shipping tracking number within few days mine was fine, if you dont then you got problems.

And with Covid19 SHIPPING out of hong kong china is atrocious due to lack of consumer flights so shipping will be longer.. ive got literally 40 parcels of parts for my electronics business from china now 30 days n counting, some stuff has arrived others dissapeared into oblivion, never had that problem prior to covid19..

        • Toby use Toll for normal shipping

        • Thanks, yeah was shipped within a few days and it already shows picked up and in transit. I bought another phone 9S for a family member through DHgate was super slow to provide tracking number but still not picked up.

      • I just received my Note 8T from Toby, took nearly 3 weeks but very happy with the phone.

They sent it with a region adapter that is actually usable, unlike the one that came with my last phone from AliExpress

    Be warned:

Most of the default apps contain irritating, harmful advertising.

Imagine opening a video file using the default media player and having an ad load before it plays.

You cannot root without a Mi account.

  • No experience with this seller but I can confirm the Note 8T is a great budget phone. I use it as a work phone and have purchased another 2 for family members.

Only issue I encountered was MIUI inserts annoying ads into the Google Play store. This can be disabled very easily and they never reappear. Steps are here. I only followed the first step to disable MSA app ads. I don't use any of the other Mi apps.

    • how did you do it ? I go into additional settings bit no section for authorisation and revocation?

      • May have changed since MIUI 10. Google the steps for 11.

        • yeah i am 11.0.3.1

          • @fitzy87: @fitzy86 Hey mate mind me asking how you got your hands on 11.0.3.1? Mine's 10.3.1.0 but says no updates available. Ordered from Toby in Nov. I can see reports of local owners getting an auto update to 11 as far back as Feb.

@[Deactivated]: Bought mine from Tobys it is the bEU version
so now I am on 11.0.7.0 got it OTA

              • @costas60: Thanks for trying to help man. The manual update process described in that link above for MIUI Global 11.0.3.0 repeatedly failed though. In the end I found advice elsewhere that suggested turning on "Receive Updates Early", after which the phone downloaded & updated to MIUI Global 11.0.1.0.

  • Got this phone also and love it, band28, nfc, good battery and pretty decent camera for the price. dual sim and sd card capable also.

  • I have had this phone for 4 months. I love it. It's a great phone but has some minor issues. Here I list some that I've experienced.

    1. If I cover the phone with both front and back silicon cases/protectors, the screen will freeze when I make a phone call. Eventually I decide to use the case that comes with the phone and only covers the back.
    2. When calling via Viber App, the receiver only can hear me for one second while I can hear them perfectly. Allegedly they should be able to hear me again after waiting for 10 seconds but I haven't tried yet.

    3. When talking on the phone, sometimes I lose mobile data connection. That means I cannot do anything online when talking.

These are common known issues of this phone. Unfortunately I experience them all. I have tried some methods to fix them, but nothing has worked so far. If anyone knows how to, please shed some light. Many thanks.

I assume problem 3 is related to your telco. Depending on the phone and the telco, the phone has to drop back to 3G during a phone call. Probably an issue related to that.

      • Thanks for the info. I am currently with Belong. Will check it when I move to Catch.

        Cheers.

  • I ordered a phone from tobydeals a year ago and it was delivered in 6 days.
I've ordered a couple phones from eglobal a few years ago and they were delivered in about 7 days.
Maybe I just have good luck.

    • Just received one from Toby and it was 2.5wk, very happy with Note-8T

  • This seems to be the best budget phone around now. Pity the Mi A3 has become ridiculously expensive.

  • I'd like to get one as a backup phone.

Note: you can also order from Toby for $241.53 (5 bucks difference) with code CART3.
