20% off Vinyl and CD's @ JB Hi-Fi

240

Hi all. JB currently have a one day sale on vinyl. 20% off for today only. They show 20% off and give the 20%off price, but when I add items into my cart, they go back to full price. Any ideas? Am I reading it wrong. Says it ends on the 3rd. Does that mean it starts tomorrow? But the prices are already reduced. Hmmmm.

LOL. I cop that a lot. I've had that nickname for 40 years.

  • They start online the night before

    • Do you mean the prices actually drop at midnight tonight? I though if it ends on the 3rd, it would end at midnight tonight. I gotta stop drinking while I shop…..

      • No. Now.

        This happens everytime.

        They often start around 5pm.

Sometimes it's a bit odd like now on the site.

  • Very odd, I was able to add to cart and purchase at the discounted price. Also included the additional 5% off code too.

    • I'll try clearing the cart and doing a Ctrl F5 and see how we go….

  • Strange. Some go in at the discounted price. Some not….

  • Any chance someone could throw these two in their cart and see what happens?
    AUSTRALIAN CRAWL
Greatest Hits (Limited Edition Sea Blue Vinyl)
    and
    MIDNIGHT OIL
Armistice Day: Live At The Domain Sydney (Vinyl)
These are the two I'm having problems with. The thumbnail shows the discounted price but when you click through, the price goes up.
    Is it just me?
Yes I know, classic boomer music….

Not showing price with discount in cart for both these items.

    • Thanks mate. Much appreciated.

      • Looks like they've fixed the glitch now. Was able to successfully purchase what i was after and just looked at "AUSTRALIAN CRAWL
Greatest Hits (Limited Edition Sea Blue Vinyl)" and is showing the discount when you click through.

  • I added some other discounted vinyl no issue - these two are showing full price must be a glitch. Call their customer service tomorrow.

Is there a customer service number to call? All I can find is an email thingy. They endeavour to reply within 48 hours, which isn't helpful for a one day sale.

      • They used to have a customer service hotline looks like its gone! Try calling your local store see if they can override the pricing.

Don’t forget to double check with Amazon, the few ones I checked are cheaper on amazon. Seems they might be doing a sale too.

  • Also having the same issue. Item comes up in search showing discount, then click through and discount is gone…

Of course this happens the day after I bought a CD for the first time in years lol.

Checked and anything I can think I’d want is cheaper at Amazon. 20% off at JB just shows how inflated their prices are to begin with.

Or maybe they charge more because they pay their staff more

      • Are you comparing wages of 2 completely different business models? Apples and oranges.

        • Well you get to choose the business model you support, justify it however you like, you choose where you shop.

I'd rather support a company that takes better care of their staff and pays tax in the country it operates in.

It was more the comment of "JB just shows how inflated their prices are to begin with", they aren't inflated, it costs more due to how they do business, there are more important things in the world than saving a few dollars at the expense of others.

Mate you're buying crap from a shop. You think you are some kind of hero? Get off your high horse.

            • @Villainous: Everything is just buying crap from a store, your free to buy from wherever you want, was just an observation.

I would assume a regular warehouse worker at Amazon AU gets paid more than a regular retail staff member at JB.

Just googling seems to indicate I am correct. Average pay rate at JB Hi Fi is around $20 an hour, Amazon AU $28 an hour.. Imagine just making things up.

        JB:

        Amazon:
        https://www.glassdoor.com.au/Hourly-Pay/Amazon-Packer-Melbou…

      • Even if you want to go full care bear here and talk about in the US just doing any basic research would show that Amazon pays above the minimum levels the majority of retail employers pay. Amazon jobs are actually sort after there for the higher pay and benefits staff get.
