Press "Go to Giveaway", and then scroll down past all the crap until you see the Hitman banner. Giveaway button on that banner is how you get the game into your library.

Took me a while to find out how to actually get the game… but I guess they want you to look at all the other stuff first.

Pain in the ass, but a freebie is a freebie.

Site is down at the moment lmao.

OzBargained, LOL. The page loaded for me but the banner didn't have the button.

Or maybe worldbargained, given the time this would have appeared in Europe, and in the US. Still down at the moment (judging from the above comment, seems to come and go), so maybe in a few hours when they go to sleep, we'll get a chance to claim it. Been trying on/off for close to 2 hours now, and still no joy.

        Live in hope, I guess.

  • is this a steam key?

      No, it's on GOG.

This instalment of the franchise attracts a lot of flak from series purists who complain that it's not a very true-to-form Hitman game, which is mostly accurate, but it's still a very competent stealth action title.

The main difference between Absolution and its predecessors (along with Hitman 2016 or Hitman 2) are the smaller levels separated by numerous loading screens between different areas that sort of eliminate the continuity of the A.I. as Agent 47 moves between different areas (as enemy alertness can magically reset and your actions in one half of a level can often have very little consequence in the other half). That and the "Instinct" ability that you have to use as a finite resource to avoid detection when in disguise, which is contrary to every other Hitman instalment where the disguises work so long as you avoid certain "enforcer" NPCs who would recognise you as an imposter.

Still, it's a good prelude and warm-up to the bigger, bolder Hitman 2016 and a sort of natural starting point into the modern Hitman era running on the Glacier engine, with Absolution, Hitman 2016 and Hitman 2. The predecessors to these titles are quite far removed from the kind of highly cinematic atmosphere and incredibly high production values that these games have, so they form a natural trilogy that is quite apart from the gameplay seen in Contracts, Blood Money or earlier titles.

    • I liken what Absolution did to the Hitman series as to what Resident Evil 4 did to the Resident Evil series.

    • Played every hitman since blood money, I hated this one the most by far, a large part due to the checkpoint system.

You will very likely reload at some point to a firing squad, losing the entire mission's progress.

Also the zones were extremely small and linear, there was pretty much 1 or 2 "correct" ways to go through each zone and no creativity allowed.

I purchased it on ps4 and I don't know how to play it, it seems like everything is a DLC, and I can't get to a point where I get to use the sniper rifle. That's what I loved about the old ones, the sniper. Don't know how to get a sniper..

Nice find! I was playing this on PS3 a few days ago but the controls weren't as great as PC.
Just remember the Hitman tip: Nobody will notice when there's noone left to notice!

  • Thanks OP, love all the Hitman games, except the 1st.

For those who can't find the link, once you have gone to this link and logged into your GOG account, there is a narrow banner wedged about halfway down in between the taller game adverts for Hitman Absolution for free. Just click on the button and it will be attached to your account.

    • Did that. Nothing happened.

Worked for me just now. Though had to turn off adblock and no script for it to be seen and clicked (chrome). Can see the game in my account in GOG.

Got it to work. Guess it was a temporary glitch.

  • +2

FYI. The sites broken. It won't load enough to allow you to redeem it.

    • +2

Yeah the site is frustratingly slow. Cannot redeem for 2 days now.

"It's NOT prostate cancer. I could kiss you… AARRGH!"

  • Got it thanks OP

  • Site is painfully slow, and just goes in a loop:
    1) Open link for game, click "Go to giveaway".
    2) Arrive on giveaway page, click Hitman Absolution
    3) Goto step 1

    Edit: Finally got it working.
