Appears to be a Satellite C665/008

No idea if this is any good - so feel free to neg. I'm bummed to have missed the recent $695 DSE Toshiba Satellite P750/02T - also 2.3GHz but which had TV tuner incorporated. How does this compare to that?

  • When I originally posted this the JB website as linked was showing the price at $598 plus $18 postage to anywhere in Australia.

However, a few minutes later, on checking my links the site now shows $0 postage to anywhere in Australia….

So I guess I need to edit price in title down from $616 to $598.
    - and as soon as I do their site will probably go back to $18 postage!

  • What is factory scoop. Factory refurbished?

    • If it was refurbished by law it would say so, one would think.
Factory scoop says to me - "got alot from the factory cheap, can sell at cheap prices"

    • Looks like it is just the tag-line of the current JB sale. I don't think JB would be dumb enough to play silly-buggers in that way.

Also I wonder if the lack of specs on the Toshiba website means that the model is too new to be refurbished. That and 'online-only' make me wonder if they are still on the boat. (Do HN have them in-store already?)

    • I think Factory Scoop sometimes means that Toshiba slightly tweaked the specs of another model so that JB can say "Exclusive to JB", and also so that you can't compare the specs directly to another store and price match. In this case there is one other retailer that has it, but it's the same idea - not a run of the mill Toshiba model. That's also why you won't see the specs on the Toshiba website.

Normally these tweaked models will be very similar to others with the same major number, in this case the C665 series. The C665/012 and C665/01H on the Toshiba website don't have HDMI, so this won't either.

      • It may also be cheap because it's in the "discontinued products" section on the Toshiba website.
