Am I Tripping, or Does OzBargain Have a Different Font or Font Size?

If so, when did this happen? It seems like today…

    Nope I'm tripping too

  • Changes implemented this morning:

    • Various font size changes so textarea/input focus on iOS won't force a zoom-in.

Did you buy a new monitor off the many recent deals? :-)

No but I've been looking for a 144hz 1440p 27" but they are rare beasts.

  • yesh I am seeing this in some places

    • yep.. noticed it too

      Yes your right.

  • Definitely, I notice it more on mobile but typing this comment, I can see it on desktop too

  • Yup noticed on mobile site, haven't checked desktop site

    You're hallucinating.

  • The buttons also look a bit nicer now as well.

It also looks like the view button on forums is gone now until there is a revision, it was previously always available due to the comments tab.

And the front page has changed.

  • It happened to me back in January but nobody believed me

    • That came up as a possible dupe for this post but it was 7 months ago so I ignored it :)

  • Typing a comment has a slightly larger font size. I noticed the changes too. And the comments and post description font size too has increased, or has it?

  • The colour of the top menu text has changed today.

  • The update this morning moved the base font from 14px to 15px (7% bonus for the new financial year), and all input elements are fixed at 16px, because

    • Because I am getting old and my eyesight is getting worse, and
    • Probably because we get random zoom-in on Safari on iOS due to fonts are too small.

I've finally got myself an iPhone (refurbished iPhone 8) and discovered all the quirks that Safari has when rendering OzBargain. Since around 25%-30% of all OzBargain sessions are on iPhone, I guess it makes sense to tinker a bit to make the site looks a bit less awful.

    • an iPhone (refurbished iPhone 8)

For development purposes or as your main phone?

      • For dev. Can't stand Apple stuff myself.

….weird. when im typing a comment in the 'Post New Comment' dialogue box it appears as Times New Roman Font? when published: Arial, like the remainder of the site.
    is this intentional??

  • yeh definitely getting a different font in the Comment Box
might be Courier, Times or similar…Serif style Font definitely. heres a screenshot

    • It's sans serif in the text box???

      • serif (with tales)
        sans serif (without)

text box is using Courier (serif)
        website uses arial (sans serif)

It appears as though your text box font is different to mine as per the below explanation from Munnday.

The text box is taking on the OS default settings - the following needs to be added onto the textarea for the font to be the same as the website itself

    font-family: inherit;
    font-size: inherit;

    • Scotty showing his amateur side

    • Wait. You don't like monospace font for the writing Markdown?!

These are default to Courier New on Windows. Definitely not TNR.

      • I'm a Comic Sans MS guy myself

      • Are you giving me a choice? I'll accept Operator Mono! :D

  • Presumably it depends on your browser settings. I use Vivaldi on Windows and already had minimum font size set to 16px on a 1920x1080 monitor (monospace is set to Lucida Console) and don't see any change.

  • Using desktop Waterfox browser or Chrome.
The set reminder button does not fit to the right of the input date box and is below the words custom date. Not sure if this is by design or dependent on screen resolution?
