Been on the look out for this mouse at a sub $200 price for a while and haven't seen any deals since January. For ~180 its above its historical low, but given the rona its been sitting a lot higher recently. I chose Australia Priority Line shipping for 31 cents (makes no sense to me) with a shipping estimate of 5-8 business days (opposed to registered airmail at 15-45 business days).

      Different model?

      • Different model. See G502 Lightspeed vs G903 comparison for differences.

G903 fits in between the cheaper G502 Hero and the more expensive G502 Lightspeed . See G502 Hero vs G502 Lightspeed differences

Calling the 902 better than the 502 is debatable. The 502 design has been around for a decade and is regarded as one of the best by a lot of reviewers.

          Rtings -
"The Logitech G903 is a better gaming mouse than the Logitech G502 Hero; it's a wireless mouse with lower latency even while wireless. The G903 feels just as well made but has an ambidextrous design and can be used in any grip by any hand size, except for fingertip grip which may be a little too large for smaller hands."

          My Thoughts -
I'm a righty, so ambidexterous doesn't matter. I've got a large hand and have been using a Logitech G5 for the past ~12 years and love it(reading that is like damnnnn, that was a second hand mouse to begin with).
It's a different model of mouse for different uses. I need a multi function gaming/work wireless mouse for large hands with a palm grip, which this fits nicely.

I made this mistake of thinking the higher number means a better mouse. The G502 is actually a better mouse than the G903 and it’s actually more expensive.

    $182 for a mouse? What.the.actual.F?

    • +4

Coz lagless wireless. I prefer wired myself. Why pay double just to have wireless.

      • +3

I'm using a single PC to power 2 monitors and a lounge room TV. Its useful to be able to pick up the mouse and keyboard and control it from the couch just as easily as my desk. The alternative was to buy dedicated wireless devices for the couch, and if I'm spending money I may as well get something I plan to use long term. My last mouse lasted 12 years and I got it second hand (Logitech G5), if this one lasts half that long I'll be happy.

        • +2

Nice. I myself have three computers set up at my desk (two personal desktops and my work laptop), so needing to switch quickly between devices matter.

I also feel the wire on a wired mouse gets in the way too easily, so for me, a wireless mouse is a necessity.

@jamescavs: Why not use an application like Synergy?

            • @Jonzay: I used it in the past for work and found it decent, but I wouldnt run it across work and personal devices. Maybe a KVM to take care of it, although that might be a bit overkill (although I'm considering investing in one for home use)

              • +1

@Intoxicoligist: I do enjoy KVM's. I've used Black Box KVM-over-IP systems before that absolutely blew my mind, but they are almost overkill by KVM standards let alone home use standards.

        • What method are you using to transmit video from the PC to the TV? If wirelessly, please explain your setup as it's something I'd like to look into.

    • +2

I mean it's retailing at JB for 280ish and its popular

People think it will make them better at games for reasons.

MSY has it for $199. IMO not cheap enough to lose out on warranty.

    • Fair enough. I haven't had many issues with past logitech products and the build quality on this one seems good. I haven't seen longevity tests on the G502 lightspeed model, but I also haven't seen complaints about it like I have the xbox pro controllers.

      • +1

Was about to edit my comment, actually out of stock at MSY, but Mwave has stock for the same price.

There are a lot of complaints of recent Logitech products. Particularly the double clicking within well under a year. Anything after G900 seems to have the switches more prone to failure.

That said my 6 month old work G502 Hero is holding up fine.

        • I didn't know that, thanks for the info. I wonder if it affects the G Pro as well because it uses their fancy switch's for some of the buttons. Is there any info out there about G502 Hero longevity? I know they redesigned the internals for the Lightspeed but the shell is the same, so it might have gotten the post G900 failing switches? At this point I've committed so I'll have to roll the dice and see how it pans out this time.

          • +1

@Intoxicoligist: Yeah logitech quality has gone to crap. My friends keyboard was replaced because the debounce failed. My keyboards LEDs have gone, and some keys aren't registering. My mouse was replaced because the sensor became intermittent. All of these devices were ~2-4 years old. My keyboard is 3.5 years, so won't be replaced =(

          • @Intoxicoligist: I had issues with my G Pro wireless, thankfully the warranty process was easy and quick

          • @Intoxicoligist: I assume it does. I guess you're thinking of the button tensioning? That's separate to the actual microswitch.

You used to be able to check on the product pages, all the ones with 5O million click switches were the ones with issues. The G900 had older 20 million click switches.

Seems they've caught on and removed all references to 50 million click switches, and just don't mention click durability. G900 still has 20 million click listed.

G502 Hero had the new 50 million ones last I recalled.

If you're handy, you can desolder and replace the switches. They are a few options, Kailh Reds seem popular.

            • @TheContact: I just replaced my G703 50 million (50M) Omron switches with 20M Omron ones due to issues with the 50M. So far so good.

              • @BFOOT: How hard was the swap? I'm guessing there is a half-decent ifixit guide? I've swapped parts on an xbox elite controller and switch joycons before.

                • +1

@Intoxicoligist: Well I'm pretty handy with a soldering iron so not too much drama for me. There are only 3 pins per switch which are long & well spaced. The trickiest part was working out how to remove all the right screws. But I worked off this: https://imgur.com/gallery/Pm5zwYQ
I used a solder sucker after melting the existing solder which worked quite well.
I pulled it apart once to see what was involved & I thought I would need new skates but they came off ok enough to re use them.
The second time however I got new skates and it was well worth it as I glides so nice now.

              • @BFOOT: Nice. Part of me kinda wants my G502 to fail to try out different switches.

            • @TheContact: You're right, I am thinking the tensioning.

The G502 Hero you reference with the 50 millions ones, any idea if thats specifically the wired or wireless (Lightspeed) one?

Desoldering is something I haven't done before, but if I've got a broken mouse I'm all for giving it a shot, although hopefully it won't come to that.

Hehe, I'm still using my wireless Microsoft Sidewinder. Still love it, unnoticeable lag - bought in 2009. Dropped many times still perfect. Wish they still made them. As far as I know you can't get them anymore so I'm just hoping it keeps surviving.

    • +1

Yeah Microsoft peripherals are actually top notch. I really highly rate them, generally speaking. They do a wireless keyboard/mouse that you can get on sale for $60. It's brilliant!

      • Agreed, I use them in my work environment where I can. Some of the headsets feel a bit cheap and nasty, but thats due to their price point.

  • Let's be honest. Up to a certain price point, it's the player and not the mouse.

    • Isn’t this true at every price point?

      • MB>MC

  • Use code: NEWUSERS (if you're new to the site) for an extra 2% off.
    Not buying so haven't validated.

  • Is the Hero sensor genuinely Logitech IP or just licenced rebranded pixart? Seemed to reach 16000 DPI at the same time as the pmw336X and pmw3389….out of nowhere, and with a history of using Avago/Pixart for their top offering.

    • I think it's Pixart but exclusive for Logitech use.

Not even sure why such high DPI numbers are mentioned. I guess for nubcakes that have no idea what it means and are impressed by numbers? Mouse is unuseable at that DPI and lower is more accurate.

      • The more DPI's the bigger your e-peen right?

Honestly its marketing wank, I'm buying it for the shape and the wireless capabilities

      • The previous sensor they used (PMW3366) was the Pixart timed exclusive. They did contract a sensor manufacturer for the HERO, but they said the company had never made a gaming sensor before. Regardless, it's completely exclusive to Logitech unlike previous sensors they used.

      • How is lower DPI more accurate? Higher DPI is always more accurate.

  • Probably not for everyone but G903 Hero 16k can be found on ebayfor $160-$170 and on Marketplace for $120+ if you’re willing to do a little digging.

  • need a deal for the g703 hero

Not worth spending that much money for no warranty. And Reddit is full of posts about crappy switches on all recent Logitech high end mice.

You will need that warranty !!!

    • Does it say no warranty?
