These are great. Helped with my Triton lag, but also for slow rock crawling 4wd.

Doesn't add power, just the illusion of acceleration.

    • Is your trition a manual? And does it help with towing or hinder?

  • No offence but wouldn't it be the same as a heavier (or lighter) right foot?

This video is iDrive's explanation of this. I thought the same but seen hundreds of comments from people happy with the change in feel it produces. Can also see benefits with the adjustability off-road to dampen the throttle response you can't achieve with your foot when you're bouncing up a rough track.

If you compare it to a car without it and just put foot to the floor for a 0-100 run for example though, assuming your foot to the floor is giving 100% throttle signal to the ecu in both cases, then the result should be the same, it won't increase max power.

  • can we do price match on supercheap?

    • Super cheap auto does not sell this unit

Did you consider the Hikeit x9 unit? (https://www.hikeit.com.au/product/hikeit-x9)

Seems to do everything the iDrive does but have a few more features, more modes and faster chipset. iDrive definitely has a much bigger marketing budget so there are way more out there. Price difference is negligible between them and from my research I can't see many reports of problems from either.

I was about to pull the trigger on the iDrive but now thinking the Hikeit unit is the way to go.

I run the hikeit and I’m very happy with it I have a 10% off code to 4x4campingandadventures

30% off with coupon ‘hikeit30’ on the hikeit website currently. Plus free shipping.

  • Or wait till they have another 20% off sale and get it for $194.37 (I'm getting 5% off with Cashback too) which would make it $184.51. The Hikeit above does look better (now if they could beat all those prices?).

  • These things are everywhere. I've seen them on ebay well under $100.

    • These two are also similar price to the iDrive and Hikeit. Are there any cheaper ones you'd recommend based on reviews etc? I wouldn't want to take my chances buying something without reading about a significant number of people's experiences as it does control your throttle.

      • as an independent auto accessories importer and seller, and auto electrician, I won’t go any brand or company if there is no proven review. Especially, iDrive is designed and tested in Australia with patent in oz, us and China. And it’s quite importantly that the unit is tested in Australia on local vehicles. The Chinese ones are as cheap as less than 100 bucks. But think the QC and not being tested locally without local lifetime guarantee, I finally go for the iDrive. This is not something really new to the market, they have been in the market for couple of years now. Quality should be more stable.
Again, iDrive is vehicle specific and not all car computers are the same.
        For your reference.

        • Completely agree with this. Did you look into Hikeit? There are also 100s of people happy with this one in various Facebook groups I'm in and it seems to be better function wise. Not as many as reviewers as iDrive but iDrive are marketing way harder.

          • @thestig: Have been checking all the stuff for long time roughly since it’s first to the market. But only pull the trigger recently. I personally talked to iDrive staff and got something that I need to know like designed and tested inAustralia, that’s what I really need to the Australian local condition. Other brands could only be the OEM of some Chinese manufacturers. Is that bad? I won’t say yes, but I won’t say no as well. But personally won’t go for any product that is not locally tested with proven review. As an auto accessories in the market for over 10 years, I had too many experience with overseas performance modification accessories, not really happy though.
            For your reference

@luce2339: I have been using the Hikeit for 16 months now no issues

        • I might say that about a tuning chip (like Racechip), but these are pretty basic devices. Yes you could go with iDrive for the more slick Australian presence, but the Hikeit seems pretty much the same (in fact better features) and then there are loads that look the same as the Hikeit so I suspect all from the same source. It's seems just a matter of how bad the English you can stand in the instructions.

With Bingokid's 30% off code the Hikeit seems a good option.

  • So this thing narrows the curve/sensitivity of the throttle pedal, so you have to press less to get to 100% position?

Wouldn't fuel use will go through the roof due to the more aggressive acceleration any time you drive?

    • Check the video interview on the iDrive or Repco website under the product link, u will find the right answer there.
It’s not something that simply press the pedal harder or less harder.

  • Good for older cars esp. when you use to be able to throw on a larger throttle body without a retune, but messing with the throttle in modern cars isnt the smartest thing.

  • Check with your insurer before buying folks…

    • Why would it matter? It's not modifying the engine or anything like that.

  • To add food for thought these won’t increase power they just adjust the throttle to be more snappy so it reacts quicker.

If you have a modern diesel they are worth the money.

I have a video explaining how to install one here it’s for a MN triton but the process is much the same https://youtu.be/jdbk6oQ9hOs

  • Just a note, the "hikeit30" code actually expired 2 days back. I called the company to see if it could be extended and they agreed to do so till this Friday. So if you are still keen, grab them before then!

    • Maybe post as a new deal, although get ready for all the hate on another throttle controller deal lol
