Apple seems to be clearing the original iPads that have been refurbished and have now added iPad 2s to the list.
Best deal I think is the 32gb 3g iPad 1 at $459 - not bad for a 3g tablet.
The refurbished iPad 2s end up being around 10% cheaper than retail.
I got one of the original iPad 16gb refurbished in April and it came with no marks or anything - couldn't tell it wasn't new….

if ya using it for general browzing and a few games, ipad is enuff
iPad 2 has A5 CPU, heaps faster if you play 3d games, plus iPad 2 has camera, so you can use facetime.
It's thiner and lighter too.

It doesn't seem much of an upgrade in my opinion…however, the white colour option is nice so it might be worth it.
Though in saying that, FaceTime must be a feature that people use everyday now days, right? With all the advertisements and stuff…the decision is so hard. The iPad 2 is a pretty big upgrade to the 1 because of this.
It has me literally LOL-ing that you don't consider the better CPU and camera "much of an upgrade" but "the white colour option is nice so it might be worth it" :-)

But that said where's this $500 saving? The Price difference is really only $380 at least to this tired old brain.

And if you take an iPad 2 32gb with no 3G and buy a pocket wifi on a plan you can pay $629 which makes the difference $170
Now the speed, camera, lighter equation becomes more compelling
Agree with ozpete.. To make the price comparison even fairer, you should compare it with iPad2 32gb wifi 3g refurbished. The price should be less than that $839.. I assume $779 (less $60 than normall price)? So the price difference is only $320
I agree, I don't think it's worth it. Camera - meh. How many Facetime or Skype video calls have people made from there iPhones?

Apple have such good control over the pricing of their products.
I cant think of any other brands that hold there resale so well.
I'm looking at an Ipad 2 for Xmas and a family member gets 5% off at Target so I will get it through them.
Yep. people have a go at apple being expensive, but the stuff holds value really well. Look up old ipods on ebay, its crazy how much they go for.
I like the fact that if i chose to get a new iphone when my plans runs out, my old one will still be sellable. all my other phones have been useless bricks after a 2 year contract.
I just sold my 2.5 year old 32GB 3GS when I upgraded to the 4s, got over $300 for it. Resale value is incredible compared to most of the junk I have purchased over my lifetime.
What do you guys suggest? Hold off until iPad 3? As some has mentioned, the prices don't really drop that significantly when new models come out…

Hahaha, I would (I am a heavy android user) but this is mainly for easier functionality in the cockpit. Most of the good aviation apps are unfortunately stuck on the more popular iPad tablets right now. Either way, my CC rewards is paying for it ;)

My iPhone 3GS stuffed up and I got a refurb under warranty (well, it was actually 6 months out of warranty - but Apple gave it to me anyway!).
Refurb for phones meant new screen, new battery + new back case. To me - it was a brand new phone, it's not like the circuit board 'ages' like those other items.
What it means for iPads, I don't know, but I'd say it would be a good buy.
but the item was pre-loved by another pesron, whom had an issue with it, but now fixed + the new screen + batt + casing.
