First post!

Been keeping an eye out for the LG27GL850 but prices have been sky high since the last $699 on Amazon. I saw the S2721DGF paper release last month and was interested. Saw the Coupon code and it took it down from $629 to $534.66. The panels are supposedly the same as the LG27GL850 but you'll have to put up with the Dell aesthetic. Dell also seems to have excellent warranty service so that's a plus. It seems to be an great buy for creatives as well since it covers 98% DCI-P3.

      Curved
      Va panel

      • Trying to get my head around this. from what I understand Va panels are better but have bad response time, but if it's 1s gtg is it ok or am I missing something?
        Could someone clarify please.

        • +1

Other way around. IPS panels are better but the delay is normally worse. They've been tightening response times of late though

      • +1

Curved is better for immersion, especially if you sit close to it. VA is better contrast.

  • Literally just bought the gl850 a few days ago for $749 (haven't received it yet) after spending ages looking for a monitor, and now this deal comes about and I could have got it and saved like $200…

    • IDK for some reason people are saying the GL850 is better but I have no idea how and why when they use the same panel. I guess you got a good deal because most are $800+

      • Yeah I wouldn't know either but hey, at least it makes me feel like I didn't spend 200 extra for nothing really haha

      • The panel is important, but not the only factor,no different to Kogan using the same Panels as big brand TVs with very different outcomes.
This is why there are always very good and pretty average implementations using the same panels.

        • The LG has great overdrive tuning. The Viewsonic XG270QG uses the same panel and its tuned really poorly with lots of overshoot below max refresh rates. This monitor is untested - whilst it probably achieve similar colours, theres nothing to indicate it will perform as well. it may or may not. panel type is not the only differentiating factor! you got a decent deal anyway, on a monitor that should last your several years :)

I refuse to buy LG product in general. Not a reliable company to deal with.

  • This or ultrawide Xiaomi for $100 more?

    • Probably this, depending. Dell warranty is amazing.

    • Xiaomi 34 ultrawide is amazing experience

  • my old u2711 is dying it only turns on occasionally

already have a 240hz tn panel for gaming, do i get a xiaomi for productivity (spreadsheets) instead…

    • Ultrawide for spreadsheets. Can't comment on the Xiaomi but I have an Ultrawide primarily used for work. Feels like a game changer!

  • +1

Bought 2 to replace my 34" Dell U3415W. I believe these 2 monitors will be more practical than the 34".

    Thanks OP.

    • I've been trying to decide between 2 of these and a single 34" ultrawide. Mind if I ask why are you dropping the ultra wide?

      • +2

Here to also chip in; I have a Dell 34" Ultrawide at 120Hz.

If you're gaming and play relatively modern titles, the ultrawide will generally be supported and provide a very nice experience. If you're comparing multiple spreadsheets, webpages etc on a regular basis, there are inherent benefits in having multiple 16:9 displays.

I'm not looking back from my Dell U3011 (16:10, 60Hz, still crankin) as the increase in peripheral vision and high refresh is delicious. Had multiple screens years ago but I only use those at work now.

        • Appreciate the insights…I live in VS Code,Jira, SharePoint Query Editors, Browser and Power BI. Gaming is a side benefit. I get tearing on my current 24" monitors. I'm thinking I'm going to stick with the 2 monitors set up.

    • Not really wide enough for 2 Excel worksheet and too wide for 1 :).
Also a few old games do not support the Ultrawide. I rather play game on 1 and surf Ozbargain on the other at the same time :).
It is also too wide to play some of the game as you can only concentrate in the middle and not the periphery.

      • Makes sense. Thanks for the reply. Wondering if 2 - 27's is too wide as well. I've got 2 - low level 24" Dells now.

        • I have a feeling the 2x27 is a bit wide. 24" should be better but I have not setup monitor in these arrangement. I won't know until a few months of regular use.

  • Thanks OP, just got one!!

owner of the amazon $699 GLA850, this looks nicer in my oppinion also it has a built in power suply so its only a cable rather than a brick. if it really is the same pannel this is a steal.

    • +1

Not having a power brick is a massive bonus on my books!

  • Retracted

  • Hey guys,

Would this monitor pair well with the recent G7 17 Dell Laptop (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/554619) posted the other day?

    Thanks :)

  • +2

Just grabbed a couple. Any recommendations for arms?

    • +1

Yes, I am looking for one as well.

    • +1

After some investigative work, I have decided and had purchased this stand.
VIVO Dual Monitor Arm Mount for 17 to 32 inch Screens - Pneumatic Height Adjustment,

  • Is this better than Acer predator xb271hu? Buying screen for the kid and want to know if I should use the Acer or the dell?

    • Well I'm upgrading from a XB270HU to this, but mostly because it's busted. This is supposed to be the same panel as the LG GL850 which is slightly better than the Acer Predator on Rtings in almost every category:

      https://www.rtings.com/monitor/tools/compare/acer-predator-x….

Seems like the LG panel is way brighter by looking at the figures. Only real downside is G-sync compatible rather than native.

  • Pretty good price for a new release, using two discount code work out to be around 20% off.
I'm going to wait for the next sale, 30% on these.

  • nice specs but price is hardly justifiable for non-gaming…

  • did anyone's cart end up at $571.82?

i'm waiting to see if i accidentally selected one of the warranty options but i'm sure i saw $534.66 when i was going through the payment gateway.

Order Id hasn't been processed yet so i can't confirm it, but cash rewards is stating the $571 price.

edit: tried the warranty options but all of them would shoot it over the price with the coupon code.
that and the cashback only looks to be 3 % =S

  • Finally I can afford to upgrade my artifacting Predator XB270HU! Just bought one of these bad boys. Thanks OP!!

    • Surely you jest? That monitor is hardly any different to this one.

      • Except this one isn't busted!

  • Sick of waiting and comparing and waiting and comparing so took the plunge.

    Thanks OP; looks solid.

  • Does anyone knows if it has a built-in speaker, and if a display cable included or not ?

Also i just notes that it has 109 Pixel Per Inch! Is it a good thing or a bad one?

    • According to the manual, speaker pass-through only:

      https://downloads.dell.com/Manuals/all-products/esuprt_elect…

And yes, one DP, and one HDMI cable.

      • Thanks Brother, it is saying there that the Screen type Active matrix is TFT ? so i am little worried is it fully a real 100% IPS?

        • Look at page 12:
Screen type: Active matrix - TFT LCD
          Panel Type: In-plane switching Technology

    • 109 PPI is standard for 27 Inch QHD.

  • Any creatives here who can tell me how this performs for like photoshop or premiere pro? If not this, what are my options?

    • IPS panel, excellent colour gamut and a beautiful QHD display so it'll do you great. I don't have it but it's very similar to the lg850 based on the specs, and that monitor clearly meets that description

      • +2

I have been Ozbargainned. Thanks for the response

  • thanks ops done deal for me 2x27 dual setup been waiting and waiting and here it is today

Curious to know if this will make PS4 Pro games look worse since PS4 Pro supports only 1080p and 4K. Has anyone used this monitor with consoles before?

    • I haven't but I have done some reading online. Apparently it's a no-go, either 1080p or '4k'.

Hopefully the PS5 supports 1440p high refresh rates.

      • if the PS5 has HDMI to support >60Hz 4K displays it won't work on this monitor as it only has HDMI 2.0

  • Thanks OP, bought one.

  • Thanks OP, bought one. Couldn't wait for LG 27GL850 to be on sale, or in stock any longer.

    • Are you sure it’s the exact same model as my understanding this has only just come out

      • Same here, this Dell model just came out how can someone use this Monitor a month ago?

    • yeah are you sure? This was released on the 28 June?

    • +1

He must be from the future

      • +2

        That's impossible!

        • Great Scott Marty!

      • Perhaps Time Traveller does exist!!!

  • Thanks Op, bought one. Looking forward to getting it on August 6th

  • Thanks OP

  • Thanks OP

  • I'm really curious and skeptical to how this monitor has such good specs for that price. Any comments? Or just a bluhdy grand deal I should go for?

  • Only getting a $14.58 cash back on the $486.05 pre GST?? 6% should be $29.16. Anyone getting the same??

    • Getting 33.18 for 2 monitors purchased..can't see y

    • +1

      It’s only 3% on monitors…..

      • +4

        Says 6% on CashRewards

        • Sorry my bad. Didn't realise Cashrewards has increased it. It was still 3% on monitors yesterday so must've changed today. Shopback is still 3% on monitors.

It appears Cashrewards is still applying 3% on the monitors despite the website saying 6%.

    • +1

Claimed cashback and got $14.58 back as well…

Yeah it does say 6% cashback on monitors though. Can we dispute?

      • I havnt even got the message yet so i might need to dispute regardless…

        • +17

Hi guys. TA from Cashrewards here.

There is no need to do anything as we’re aware sales are tracking at 3%, but please note this condition in the terms for Dell on Cashrewards:

Cashback is ineligible if using coupon codes not listed on Cashrewards.

As this code is not listed, we’re unsure if Dell will give the all clear. Receiving a tracking email is unfortunately not a guarantee that cashback will be honoured by the store in circumstances such as these. We’re at their mercy.

I will be in contact with Dell on Monday to get clarity on this deal and any associated cashback and will respond to my own comment here once I have all the details. Fingers crossed. Thanks.

          • @tightarse: Guys, please note we're yet to hear back from Dell. Please bear with us… I will certainly keep you all posted :)

          • +15

@tightarse: Hi guys. Some good & not so good news. Dell has confirmed the following:

            • All tracked sales utilising code AUAFFILIATES15%OFF on its own from 01/08/20 to 03/08/20 will have cashback honoured (as a one-off).
            • All tracked sales utilising code ECU5, on its own or in combination with any other code, will have cashback declined (as per the terms re unlisted codes).
            • Use of code AUAFFILIATES15%OFF from 04/08/20 onwards will not be honoured and cashback will be declined.
            • All valid purchases that tracked at 3% have now been adjusted to 6% in your Cashrewards accounts.

            Thank you.

    • yep got the same. wondering if I should raise it now or later….

    • Its likely going to get denied unless they change their stance. Mine was from a previous deal. About 1 week after and tracking email confirmation, it just changed to declined on cashrewards.

  • +1

Ugh couldn’t resist at this price, grabbed two for the stage 4 lock down set up.. now to look for arms

    • In Melbourne? Good luck…

    • You're in Melbourne? Ouch for you if S4 happens…

  • is it really gsync compatible ?

    • Says so in the 'overview section.

  • Can anyone recommend a gaming monitor for an Xbox one?

  • Need to resist this. After looking at a lot of monitors, thinking to jump on the ultrawide bandwagon. The only decent and affordable monitor comes close for my taste (bit of gaming, photo editing, movie, etc)appears to be acer predator x34p and its still over a grand. Hoping for a good deal on this one.

  • I think this one can OC to 165HZ?

    • +4

HDMI at 144hz, DP at 165hz from what I've read.

      • that'll be perfect. thanks

  • @richh1833 would you know until when the code can be used?
