Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging for All

What exactly do they teach in this course? And what sort of certificate do you get?

    • +10

This is the sort of course your company sends you on as a last chance. If you stuff up again you can’t say you were never told you that racism isn’t appropriate, and that you need to invite Nigel to burger lunch, even though he’s vegan.

      • -4

Do we really need to invite 'Nigel No Friends'?

He'll only spend all the time complaining about how as an old white bloke HE'S the one being discriminated against.

        • +1

Wow, firstly, ageist much? Secondly, Nigel prefers the non-binary pronoun "they" . And as for not respecting Nigel's diverse cultural background, their religion that forbids meat, and their vitiligo condition, well I can see why you desperately need this course.

          • -4

            @skyva:

            Wow

Sorry, I meant "as a straight old white bloke"…

@D C: Since I identify as an OzBargainer, I'm offended by the negs.

You should all be ashamed of your micro-aggressions.

        • …and Nigel No Friends is a ginger as well.

I'd bet the Venn diagram for OzB grammer nasi's & SJW's is rather boring.

  • +1

Whats the approximate duration of one of these courses?

    • +1

The CompTIA one has “34 hours of expert-created content“… or so they say.

  • Do you need to register now on the course or you can start anytime between now til Mar 2021 expiry?

  • If I currently work in retail and don't have a LinkedIn profile…… Can I still do the courses? :-)

    Cheers

Linkedin is for everyone, no matter what industry your in.

It says above you need a LinkedIn account and need to sign in.

Maybe it's time for you to create you own linkedin account/profile as you never know when you will look for that next job/career.

      • Awesome :-) thank you heaps

Big heads up for anyone interested - you can get a free subscription to Lynda.com from most Australian libraries, which gives you access to the entire LinkedIn learning catalogue.

The real MVP is always in the comments.

    • +2

Came here to mention this too - there are some very decent courses available (speaking as a gainfully employed software developer / team leader since 2002).

    • +2

Nice! Many bigger employers also include it - always worth checking what discounts or inclusions your entitles to through your company.

    • +2

Wow, you just saved me a ton. Just got made redundant and the offering on Lynda.com is legit. Thanks poppingtags.

      • I'm in the same boat actually, glad you found it helpful! :)

    • Lynda subscription how so? My local Library doesn't seem to have it

  • Same deal as the one posted last month https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/548900

    • It was worded in a way that was mostly about discounts on Microsoft Cert Exams. This is why not many people found the info about free LinkedIn courses.

It will be handy for those retrenched from LinkedIn

  • hi op, your provided visit link is not working.

  • Here is how to get LinkedIn Learning (Lynda.com) premium account for free.

TL;DR: You should be able to get it for free with your local library membership. Because of the pandemic, most libraries offer online signup so you don't have to drop by your local library if you're not already a member.
