Nintendo Switch Console 2019 - Neon Blue/Red $448 ($405 via 10% off Gift Cards) + Delivery (Free with Club Catch) @ Catch

690

A bit of a workaround but may be worth the hassle for some.

Neon Blue/Red console $448 or purchase $450 worth of gift cards for $405 (effectively will cost $403.20 with a little leftover on the gift card).

10% off Physical Catch Gift Cards (Delivered or In-Store) @ Australia Post (thanks doweyy)

Cashback is 1% at Shopback and Cashrewards which brings the console down to sub $400.

To sweeten the deal, you can now start earning flybuys points on your purchase. Your first linked transaction gets you 10x points as a regular user, or otherwise 20x points as a Club Catch user.

  • 10x points on the purchase as a regular user = 4480 points ($22.40 flybuys dollars)
  • 20x points on the purchase as a Club Catch user = 9960 points ($44.80 flybuys dollars)

Could be worth signing up to Club Catch for the points too as the first month is free (which you can cancel before it rolls over to your second). If you've been a member in the past, paying the extra $6.50 for a month's membership would give you an extra $22.40 worth of flybuys dollars in the form of points 😉

More info on the bonus point and linking of your flybuys card here.

*Edit: Few more options via referral and Zip could knock off up to $30 if you're willing to go the distance. See here (Thanks WhatWouldBiggieDo)

Nice find, unfortunately club catch won't deliver to me.. free anyway :(

    Edit: seems they've fixed that

    Fire deal op

  • Would it stack with unidays code?

    • +1

Nintendo products excluded from the code.

      • +1

        Poo!

    • That's how I scored my switch for about $300 back in the days. Still going strong. Hail thee OzBargain!

  • +2

This is how you do deals. Stacked with Flybuys this is a ripper.

Use a sign up referral ($10) and use Zip for your first purchase ($20) and the true cost is down near $320.

    • Wow

    • Can you explain the Zip process. Are you able to use gift cards with Zip?

      • +2

No you would have to do a split payment. Pay $40 through Zip and the rest using discounted gift cards

        • Hey sorry could you explain how to split the payments? am on the checkout screen and no option to split here as far as I can see :(

    • I can't seem to find much info about the $20 off first purchase? Is this deal always running with Zip for new customers?

      • $20 off via zip was upto 31st July.

        • Ah cheers for letting me know, was struggling to find this deal.

      • -1

A above. Looks like it has now finished anyway

        • Ah no sweat, thank you for taking the time to reply, I did a bit of googling but yeah only found the expired deal and thought I was missing something.

      • Thanks for confirming. Removed from original post.

    • +2

You know there’s this thing called COVID-19 right ;)

    • +3

People spend thousands on a piece of animal hide made into a handbag.

this isn't really that bad compared to that.

    • +5

Some people use it for Mario Kart, not for mining bitcoins.

      • Damn you can mine bitcoins with a Switch? Count me in!

    • I would guess most would be families. It's obviously not going to make the PC Master Race happy, I have a PS4 but my kids have a Switch and love it

      • +2

Nintendo stuff hold their value really well too especially the cartridge based consoles as they tend to last much longer and less chance of becoming faulty compared to a CD / DVD / Blu ray type console.

In addition people love portable gaming.

    • +4

Well over 60 million people have overpaid on underwhelming hardware. So I guess I'm surprised that you're surprised.

  • +5

Imagine if they sold out after buying the gift cards, but before you could order the Switch. Then $450 of your money is locked to Catch…not worth the risk imo.

I’d wait for Black Friday deals.

    • Good luck.

Doubt these will go on sale with the current slow down in available stock and increased demand.

      • +1

Stock levels are starting to stabilise. Also, considering the Xbox Series S is probably going to only slightly more expensive than this, Nintendo may want to make some changes to their pricing. Or, they may wait and see if sales numbers start slowing down first. Who knows.

        But I personally would wait.

  • +1

Is it just me or are these bundles getting more expensive as time goes on?

We're at the end of this gen and both hardware + software are full price after 3 years.

    • +1

Not a bad thing for early adopters - solid resale is great. More recently it's obviously because of demand and a global supply issue

    • +5

      Something's going on.

I sense general uncertainty worldwide. Been feeling like that since March, I guess.

      • Subtle. I like it

      • +1

You need to be more positive my friend….wait no positive isn't a good thing to be nowadays.

Wait is it good to be positive or negative in these times?

        Im so confused…

        • +1

I'm positive that being negative in these times is a positive.

    • Same could be said PS4.

  • +1

Have you been living under a rock or what?

The increased demand for these units during COVID lock down and delays in supply have driven them up in price if not kept them where they are.

You really think Nintendo is going to drop the price if there is such demand for them?

I know its not a good thing but this matter has been discussed so often lately on the website and on the news.

  • Do I have to wait for the gift cards to arrive? Or will I get a code sent to me

    • As per PainToad's comment above, it might be a risky move.

    • Gift cards can be purchased in store at Australia Post.

  • Last time the catch gift card highest denomination was $50 and you could only redeem maximum of 5 cards.

    • +2

      $100 denominations available online

      • +1

Thanks. These are handy just to keep. You never know when you would need them.

    • Yup. Just went to 2 different Aus Posts and they only had $50 cards, you can only buy a maximum of 5 at a time, and you have to wait up to 24 hours for them to be 'activated'..

  • +1

Few hoops to jump through but this is potentially the best deal I've seen on a switch.

    • I got my switch for $315 from amazon prime day.
That was before cash back stacked on top.

I’d like a second one, but after $315 this just seems expensive

      • +1

It be cool that people live with present prices and not in the dreams of past deals that unobtainable !

        I know it just a dream :)

        • +2

Or maybe they're just happy to wait until this BS pricing ends?

        • I wish I could buy Sydney property at 1999 prices too

          • @WhatWouldBiggieDo:

I wish I could buy Sydney property at 1999 prices too

Sydney property prices and Switch prices are both inflated due to low supply and high demand. However, that's where the similarities end.

We can't magically create more land near Sydney, it's a finite resource that people will always want. Compared to the Switch, Nintendo can always make more…and the demand for them will eventually decrease.

I'll just point out that I purchased this off Catch about a month ago and it was shipped off 1-2 days after I ordered it and arrived within the week (Melbourne). So positive feedback here.

Nintendo Switch prices are pretty much the same everywhere at the moment so getting some discounted gift codes is definitely worth it if you are happy paying the price this year.

  • Went to the post office, only had few $50 cards available.

    Will keep hunting…

    • There was $100 denominations @ my local post office, so might just depend on individual branches.

  • This morning I managed to buy enough gift cards to cover a Nintendo Switch.

Does anyone know how long it takes for the cards to be active?
The AusPost recipe says to allow for 24 hours, naturally I was hoping it would take shorter than that.

I can't wait to make the order on Catch!

    • Same boat here!
Brought mine around 2.30pm.. won't work yet.

    • *receipt :)

    • Took about 6 hours for mine.

      • +1

Finally they have been activated and with a couple of store credits accrued I managed to pay out of pocket $385 which I think is pretty good

        • Yep mine seem to be activated now as well.

Out of curiosity which colour is everyone buying? red/blue or grey/grey?

          • @ezza: I got the red/blue and planning to buy extra joy cons in other colours, so that each member of the family can pick their colour

            • @Lukech: Good idea!!
Went with the grey version to keep it simple looking for myself lol

            • @Lukech: I bought the sweet potato joycons with the discounted gift cards.

Not bad for $98 brand new.

And i donated $1 to red cross

        • Nice man

  • Bought a switch package for $400 second hand. 4 games, pro controller, dock, 2 joycons.

Sold the tablet for $400 on ebay because it was unpatched. Sold games for $150.

Was basically given a pro controller, 2 joycons and joycon holder thing, tv dock and $150 for an hours work. Oh and also kept the pokeball controller from the pokemon game, just because.

Cool story, had to tell someone.

    • +1

Bought 2nd hand a nintendo switch lite zacian and zamazenta edition with 3 games for $260.

Sold 2 of the games off for $95 and kept animal crossing game

Wife saw it and took it off me.

      .

I havent been able to play it since.

      • +1

        Time to change wife !

        • It will cost me a lot more than a switch to do so LOL.

  • +1

No cashback when paying with gift cards.

    • Forgot about this when I purchased tonight.

Should have bought the giftcards online with the 1.5% cashback to make up for it!

  • Looks like Amazon price matched?

    • +1

Has been this price on Amazon for a while, but no 10% giftcards to bring it down to $400

  • Still yet to find the elusive $100 denomination in the shop.

Been to 3 post offices, 2 had $50 cards.

The Westfield Parramatta store didn't have any Catch Gift Cards.

    Might just get em online…

  • +2

For those still hunting 10% off Catch cards will be available at Coles from tomorrow.

    Credit: Dealbot Ozbargain

    • I can’t see it on their website. Do they sell $100 ones?

      • Don't think so, 5 Coles in Sydney didn't have the $100.

  • -1

its the old model, i need the 2020 or 2021 version.

    • Latest model is 2019 I believe

    • How do you expect to get a 2021 version in 2020?

    • 2020 is the COVID19 Version, I doubt much was being produced early on due to the pandemic.

  • Anyone have any recommendation for a protection/accessories… something bundle like this?

    https://www.amazon.com.au/Accessories-Carrying-Protective-Pr…

  • Anyone know how long Catch takes to ship to your door? I live in Wyndham

    • I have been wondering the same.
I ordered on Monday night and still waiting to received it.

On Wednesday I received confirmation that has been processed at their facility which is in Somerton VIC - I live in Essendon which is only 20 minutes drive from their warehouse.

Not sure why it is taking so long

      • Same same here…
Maybe its VIC Aust Post hold ups.

        • Did you order on Monday?

            • @ezza: Nothing yet? I am still waiting.

              • @Lukech: Nope.. got my delivery from Boozebud this morning (which also showed tracking through Somerton), but no Switch yet.
I'll settle for the vodka instead over the weekend lol

                • +2

@ezza: Good on you for the booze mate!

              • @Lukech: I bought mine over the weekend and it got dispatched today, Australia Post is saying to allow 3 business days ALONE just to START shipping. I can’t imagine how long shipping as actually takes, considering some parcels have been shipped from Victoria into Sydney back to Victoria. It is pathetic the PM thought it would be a good idea to limit the amount of AusPost workers. Makes their jobs harder and more annoying for consumers

                • @joshk-87: I received mine 1 hour ago, I ordered it on Monday night - it took 5 business days.

                  • @Lukech: Lemme guess - non VIC right?

                    • @ezza: I am in Victoria

                      • @Lukech: Ahhh nice.. just got a msg from Aust Post mine is coming today apparently

                        • @ezza: hope you enjoy the switch :)

                          • @joshk-87: Thanks bud… Aust post decided not to ring my door bell and take it directly to a PO for collection… ehhh.
                            I'll collect it tomorrow :-/

                  • @Lukech: i guess that’s not too bad considering amount of orders - I ordered it on Saturday, so hopefully I will see it by Friday. Enjoy your switch!

        • It very well could be. AusPost has been excusing all delivery delays with COVID-19. And due to us being in Stage 4 AusPost has had to change their ways of doing things with their online deliveries and said they will most likely be delayed.

If you want to skip the gift cards.
You could buy tonight on Catch between 8pm-10pm AEST and get 10% shopback.
    Kinda same same
