Robin Hobb fantasy novels all on sale today at Kindle Daily Deals.

George RR Martin has said of Hobb: "Fantasy as it ought to be written … Robin Hobb's books are diamonds in a sea of zircons."

From Assassin's Apprentice (Book 1 of The Farseer Trilogy):
The kingdom of the Six Duchies is on the brink of civil war when news breaks that the crown prince has fathered a bastard son and is shamed into abdication. The child’s name is Fitz, and he is despised.Raised in the castle stables, only the company of the king’s fool, the ragged children of the lower city, and his unusual affinity with animals provide Fitz with any comfort. To be useful to the crown, Fitz is trained as an assassin; and to use the traditional magic of the Farseer family. But his tutor, allied to another political faction, is determined to discredit, even kill him. Fitz must survive: for he may be destined to save the kingdom.

Awesome read. Highly recommend the books. Currently reading Fool’s Fate.
I loan the eBook free through the Brisbane City Council library though.

Read the Farseer Trilogy earlier this year - excellent, mature, inventive fantasy. Up there with Raymond E Feist, for mine.

Have just started the Liveship Trilogy and am loving the new perspective. Hobb is a GOAT.

I've been picking up a few Feist packs in the Kindle Daily Deals as well! :)

Fantastic! I'm halfway through the liveship traders trilogy so I picked up every other book. Ship of Destiny looks like it's the only book that isn't on sale for some reason?

    • +1

Oh yeah, I didn't even notice that Ship of Destiny isn't on sale. That's because I picked up the Liveship Traders trilogy a few weeks ago (also on a Kindle Daily Deal) for $9, but picked up the rest of them today. I didn't get the Soldier Son Trilogy ones, though, they seem to be rated less highly. Anyone else read the Soldier Son Trilogy and have thoughts?

Robin Hobb is easily in my top 3 fantasy authors, and has been since I first picked up the Farseer trilogy 20+ years ago.

If you have even SLIGHTEST interest in the fantasy genre and haven't read these, do yourself a favour and give them a go.

That's awesome, they are all fantastic - though the Rain Wilds are not quite on the same level as the rest, they are still decent reads.

It's awesome to hear how many people move Hobb. She is such a great author.

Liveship Traders (my favourite trilogy) could be read before Farseer Trilogy, but you'd want to have both before going to Tawny Man.

Great! I read the farseer trilogy a while ago, really liked it. But then I decided I'd try something else before circling back to the rest, got distracted and only now remembered, so thank you!

    Also available on Kobo

The first three trilogies are great. I gave up during the fourth tho.

  • Love her books, especially the first 3 with Fitz. Didn't mind the Live ship series, though I found it a little bland for the most part it had some great ideas. Soldier Son series was much the same.

Still waiting for Patrick Rothfuss to finish the next book

Edit: Never bought a Kindle book, can they be downloaded and read on any device?

    • Yep, you don't have to have a Kindle device - they have a Kindle App you can use on other devices.

        Thanks

Met her at SDCC 2014 and got her signature… this is freaking awesome thank you!

  • Unexpired because prices still valid :)

    • Annnnnnd, now they're gone.
