I got the 27" one for $339 back in July (that included $50 gift card).

    Nice monitor.

      Too big for 1080p

      • Nope, it's fine for what we use it for…

Doubt you can find anything much better for that price.

It's also certified as G-Sync Compatible.

I guess it's only a bargain if you have the gift cards? It's currently $299 at Scorptec with free shipping. I just bought it last week and received it 2 or 3 days later via Australia Post. Great monitor. I don't know if Catch is local, but Scorptec is here in Melbourne with great customer service. Up to you. Here's the link to the one I bought from Scorptec: https://www.scorptec.com.au/product/Monitors/23-24-inch/8031…

    • Catch is local and has a distribution warehouse in Melbourne. This particular monitor is sold and delivered by Wireless1 through Catch, who are also local.

      • Ah cool! Didn't know that. I had always thought they were overseas.

    • My mate bought a case from scorptec 13 days ago. Still hasn't arrived. Them the breaks

    • On the website they're getting stock today but subject to change and shipping from Auspost is $19?

Where are you getting free shipping ?

      • On the website they're getting stock today but subject to change

They tend to update they stock status every day…

I waited for over a month to get mine, when initially they said that stock was arriving in a few days.

      • Hm. I can see that in the shipping estimation field too, but when I added the item to my cart and proceeded to checkout there was free shipping. ¯_(ツ)_/¯ I paid an extra $6 to protect my shipment from AusPost but I don't see any shipping fees on my invoice.

If you missed out its also $289 + Delivery at Mwave. Pick up is free
This ones the 24G2U version from the spec only difference seems to be that the 24G2U version has built in speakers and 4x USB 3.0 but no G-sync by the looks of it
not sure what else is different

    • That's about the only difference AFAIK.

These monitors will slide back towards $250 soon anyway, and then probably drop to $200 as we roll through new panel technology, and thus new resolution/refresh rate combinations.

      • What's that new panel technology you're talking about?

        • +1

Updated VA that doesn't smear, 1080p/1440p 240Hz IPS, 1440p 240Hz VA, 1080p 360Hz IPS (and possibly TN), updated 4k144Hz, cheaper OLED TVs that can compete against ultrawides, cheaper ultrawides, proper 240Hz ultrawides, miniLED backlighting for HDR, dual LCD tech for even more densely backlit HDR (read: near per-pixel control)…

You're likely to see basic 1440p 240Hz to quickly hit the $700 mark, and 4k120Hz OLED TVs near $1000 for a 48" panel. That's going to put enormous price pressure on all of these current and future offerings.

      • “soon away” means 2021?

        • -2

Well the 48" OLEDs are here this month, just waiting on price drops in October-Feb as per the usual cycle for LG's lineup. That might happen a little bit later in the line-up as the 55" model has dropped lower than the 48" model so far.

There's already 4k144Hz IPS, 1440p 240Hz VA, 1080p 240Hz updated TN and IPS, with more of those on the way. There's also a 1080p 360Hz monitor that's about to launch, and there should be at least one more before the end of the year. 1440p 240Hz IPS monitors will be shipping next month, and there's miniLED monitors somewhere in the mix as well. Dual LCD TVs are shipping this year from Hisense, but I don't know about monitor panels.

          My picks would be:

          • the 27" Samsung G7 (1440p 240Hz VA, buy at $800 or under)

          • the 27" Samsung G5 (to be released in Q4, but the 144Hz version of the G7 without HDR, likely coming in at around $450 before dropping down to $300-350 on promotion, though perhaps not until Q1 2021)

          • and entry level 1080p 240Hz IPS, which should be on sale for around $400 between Dell, Acer and ASUS models, but also take a look at the ASUS VG259QM and MSI MAG251RX if they aren't far away from that pricing

Essentially 4k144Hz, 1440p 240Hz and 1080p 360Hz are set to take over the price points that were previously held by 4k60Hz, 1440p 144Hz and 1080p 240Hz, and frankly the AU retailers have been milking pricing here for way too long considering that in the EU, UK and US you could pay an equivalent AUD $400-$450 inc GST for a 1080p 240Hz IPS monitor all the way through lockdown.

            @jasswolf: thanks, worth waiting.

            • +1

@tedzozb: Exactly. If corona was never a thing, this would probably be a $200 monitor when on sale.

    • +2

yes they dont have G-sync but they both of them have FreeSync. but afaik you can set up g-sync on a FreeSync monitor anyway with nvidia cards
