This sounds good, can you point me in the right direction for where to source for reasonable price. Thanks.

This is a good option though it has a TN panel so not the prettiest, might want to add in an SSD. There's also some straight up used ones, I don't see a problem with it but I know many aren't very confident. I've used an X240 like the one above myself but with an SSD and the only let down was the display, everything else was amazing. The battery lasted longer than my current ultrabook, the processor while old was still good enough for anything you'd reasonably do on a laptop and the keyboard was amazing.

Edit: Btw I bought mine from Megabuy on eBay, quick delivery. It also held resale value surprisingly well, I was able to sell it for as much as I paid on Gumtree.

      Good for you?

  • This, wait for new iPad 2020 or Samsung galaxy tab s6 lite?

    • Completely different. The Duo is a budget 10" tablet, also happens to be a Chromebook.

The iPad and Tab S6 Lite are established iOS/Android tablets with a much higher price and performance.

      • An entry level ipad and a Samsung S6 Lite are not that much more than $500, and even smaller gap to the rrp $600.

Personally I can't stand the browsing experience on ios and Android - interested if others are the same. Chrome OS with Android apps is a pretty good solution.

So to create a new email address for google and use the VPN for access the web

Confirming Officeworks price of $455 picked up from my local

Somebody needs to update the price in title to $479 not $497..

    • Thanks - updated now

  • If only it had a backlit keyboard and 8GB RAM.

    • use the screen keyboard when you're in a dark room or under the blanket

      backlit keyboard

Is this some hunt and peck thing I'm too touch typer to understand?

  • If this has Google Assistant, the microphones should be very good at filtering out background noise for video calls.

I have a HP ChromeBook x360 and can participate in calls without a headset.
Also I find ChromeOS behaves differently to Android in that you can choose to use Chrome or Android App and easier to use multiple accounts. Using the in browser site can be a workaround when a company expects you to configure a 'work account' to use the app.

    • HP X2 owner here.

Unlike the x360, the Duet is more likely to be used in tablet mode. The Android apps work much better in tablet mode than Chrome/Web apps do.

Thanks OP, I jumped and drove to officeworks store near me and able to price beat. I also waited until they dump the clock

  • Good deal, and even better with the OW Price beat (although would get similar results by just using discounted gift cards at JB).

That being said, should I sell my C340-11… I very rarely use it on my desk with USB hub so I won't miss the limited screen resolution options when outputting, but I would appreciate the 1080p screen.

Officeworks have now price-matched at $479 - so the price beat is probably no longer possible. Still a fair price at $479, I think. The reviews are very complimentary.

  • Awesome. Time to claim 28deg price protection

Much much better price than when it first came out for $599.00 here:

I'm guessing the lack of sales made them pull their heads in…

Ended up getting myself one for Father’s Day. Thanks Op.

    • For your dad then lol.

We're enjoying these new devices, for $455 inc GST (OW price match) they are nicely engineered and everything just works, Keyboard is fine and connectivity is excellent - bluetooth, Wifi…all good.

Far better than our earlier Android tablets and already far less bullying than the iPad; the iPad no longer has a use case in this house.

Thanks for this. I have been looking to upgrade my 6 year old Samsung Galaxy Tab S. Picked it up this morning, it's great!
