Just a heads up that delivery is due for late October, so that’s something to consider.

And also if it's the US version, there will be no earbuds in there.

  • Do these grey imports have any warranty?

    • Yes they do but obviously it's different to what you'd get if you buy locally (eg those two links I provided in the description). Here is the previous post on the 4a via Amazon US and there you'll see the discussions on warranty. Personally I've bought from US and UK and I've hardly had issues and those were resolved very quickly. Edit: link: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/560306

You'll definitely want local warranty with Google as their mobile handsets seem to not have the greatest QC. I had to replace my Pixel 2 XL a total of three times but luckily I bought the phone through Telstra so Google were very good about it.

      • You've had experience with international warranty claims with Google products?

  • Didn't google say they'll price match anyone?

    • +2

      I just checked their page,

Authorized retailers that they will price match.

      Australia

      Bunnings
      Harvey Norman
      JB Hi-Fi
      Officeworks
      The Good Guys

Maybe do one of those love triangle things where you get for eg JB Hi-Fi to match Amazon and then you get Google AU to match JB Hi-Fi. It's like a price-ception kind of thing. Just a suggestion.

Ie: sellers that Google has pretty good control over

    • Yeah, but not amazon.

can save further using amazon discounted gift card at 3% off i.e $15.87 off and cashback offer on top

    • Thank you Ozbargainer! I will add this to the description.

    • Can anyone get these GC's or are they limited to members of certain super funds, employers, insurance companies?

  • Would you 'upgrade' from a pixel 3 or would that just be a sidegrade?

    • +5

sidegrade. Hold out for pixel 5 is you are a pixel fan

    • It would be a downgrade as even if performance is equal you'd lose unlimited photo storage.

I'm using a 3xl and I'm actually holding out for the 6 (or a Samsung if Google keeps screwing up with hardware) next October cos 5 / 4A 5G are still side stepping with the same old camera.

Ps: I don't play games and I don't mind relaunching apps so the smaller ram on the 3xl isn't an issue.

  • Anyone had any luck getting a local store to price match or come near it?

Save $70 to wait up to two months longer, get 1 year less warranty, and no buds.
