Actually needed one for my new build, perfect timing. Cheers OP

  • +1

Thank OP, was going to buy a USB wireless dongle for $50+ but saw this one. Bought 1 and I don't even know if I have a free PCIe slot

    • +2

I've tried both and can say that the pci-e ones definitely perform much better than usb

      • my USB gives me 100Mbps on speedtest from my 100/20 NBN, it can't get faster than that right??

        • +1

That's your internet, how about your local network? AC goes much higher than 100 Mbps.

        • I'm referring more towards a signal strength perspective. Like I get approx 2 - 3 bars with the USB, and 4 - 5 bars with the card (5 bars is the full signal).

        • Yeah no need if you only use it for internet connection. You'd want something better if you were transferring files across a local network.

          • @Mister Popo: Yeh I don't transfer files across the network….I'm too poor to poor to have my own network :(

        • Usb ones tend to get hot and start throttling due to the smaller surface area. Mine overheated and dieded

      • Same here my USB wifi adapter was a lot worse in terms of stability and performance

    • I've found that the best option is to buy a wireless card (like what's in a laptop) and a PCI adapter. Most of the PCI cards are just this anyway.

  • weekend made, thanks king

  • can i use this to connect to my home wifi , if my desktop motherboard doesnt comes with wifi function ? anyone can comment and advise, please ? thanks

    • +5

yes thats exactly what this is for.

    • +1

Yeh just make sure you have a free and clear pcie slot

    • Yes, and it's very easy to install. Takes less than 5 minutes to get it up and running (unless you need to install drivers etc).

      • +1

Most likely Windows 10 will automatically install the required drivers considering this is a newer component

Only 1 per customer?!?! They must have learned their lesson from all my antics.

I wish this comes with bluetooth.

      • awwww wish I bought this one instead of D-link one. Does anyone know how to cancel my order centrecom?

      • Do you need a bluetooth capable motherboard for this model to work? Or does this come with the bluetooth radio on it? I've read that some of these BT models need a cable to the mobo (bluetooth radio located there) which means they aren't really BT at all. Looking to buy one but just wanted to confirm first.

        • +2

This comes with Bluetooth that needs to be plugged into a USB header on your motherboard.

          • @Dorminate: Awesome, gotcha. Thanks! Will pick one up

Wireless ac, Bluetooth 5, and a decent chipset from Intel for under $50. Plus you can upgrade it later if your want.

        • Does not have antenna. Different connection and the second one delivery in November.

          • @Dorminate: It does have an antenna because the first part goes into the second. The second is slow delivery, but there are plenty of those sold by other sellers - I just picked the first one on the list when grabbing the link.

            • @macrocephalic: There is only 1 part shown, it's the top and bottom. These require a cable that plugs into the 2 sockets shown and antennas. They are meant for motherboards like mine that come with antenna brackets, but no antennas. The antennas and cable cost $20-$30 alone. It's not affordable

Oh I see what you're saying. You need both the links you provided. Better off just buying that $50 pcie card with the antennas

              • @bobvegas: The $50 one is pretty much the same thing - except from the factory. I found that they normally used older chipsets and weren't upgradeable (as in you can just replace the ngff if you buy the two parts). Might not be worth the effort for some, but I think it is.

  • Great price, shame about postage being a bit pricey. Still a good price with postage, but not a must buy like it is without.

  • Damn, they can't transfer stock between stores, and its another 7.6 for postage…….

    Oh well.

Does this only come with only a low profile bracket? or Normal + low profile?

    • +1

I've bought different 2 wifi adapters (not this exact model) and both came with both brackets.

  • Always good to have one of these in the cupboard.

    • good to have a cupboard with wifi

  • +1

    Sold Out, needed one too!

    • Looks like Ozbargained. Only available at Sunshine for pick up.

  • What’s the normal price? It sound bloody cheap but I can’t be sure…

    • +1

      Googling it, around $70-90

    • +1

I paid around $55 for something similar (abit better) from china. $19 is very cheap

  • :( I need one. Can someone suggest another one pls

    • TP-Link Archer T4E is consistently $50, 2.5x more for the same thing sadly.

    Hi guys.

I just bought a desktop without realising that it doesn’t have a wifi adapter!

But I used one of my old router modem today and converted it into a receiver/client/wifi adapter.

I can’t see any lag. Maybe if you have an old router, try changing it into a client. That why you get to reuse and save.

    Have a nice day.

    • 😲

    • How do you do that?

  • Sorry for late reply.
Basically you need to enter into your router settings and change it into client rather than our normal AP usage.

Your router ip could be something like 192.168.0. Etc, those username and password are like admin admin, I am only giving as example cause it is different for every router. Some router has their default ip, password username on a stick on the router.

I am not a guru about these but was troubleshooting stuff, but finally with success. The link below was useful for me.

I believe with same principle, you are able to use those old modem routers to extend signals too.

    Good luck! Have fun.

  • It seems this card won't work with the latest Windows 10. Tried all drivers I can find online, the connection drops every 10 mins or so.

    • You're not supposed to manually install the drivers, windows 10 will automatically install it for you.

Mine is working fine and very happy with it.

  • Mine has arrived, very happy with the purchase

    100/20 NBN Kogan

  • I got a $15 USB wifi one for my NBN100 and only getting 70mpbs FTTP :( I'm guessing this will help get me closer to the 100?

    • You should mate. Of course depends how far your modem/router is.
