Personally I brought a Seal Posturepedic mattress at Myer as I prefer premium inner spring over full foam. But if you like foam than this is a good deal.

  • All of the mattress deals on this site always seem to be foam.

Well Myer is having a mid-year sale (up to 50% off) on Sealy Posturepedic if you prefer inner spring. I got a great deal on the King Single UNO Tranquill $650 delivered (was $1399).

      • You can usually find 60-70% off.

The problem is, each store will call that mattress something different. Same mattress with about 6 different names. This stops consumers from price matching.

I don’t completely agree with you there. 60% would be the max. and that would be for floor stock. Other sales may require you to buy a mattress and base.

Correct. That is why you need to do your research and compare the internals of the mattress like the quality of the inner springs and comfort layers.

          • @MuddyClear: I suppose everyone's milage will vary in retail. We were looking at Sealy and sleepmaker. $4700 King mattress down to $1599.

I think that's around the 65% which is common. Beds run on about a 75-80% margin.

I can’t speak for King as I was looking for a King Single. But given how much more a King is I would expect more negotiating power. For example, top of the range Sealy Posturepedic Crown Jewel in King RRP is about $13K. Now who pays $13K for a mattress?

              • @MuddyClear: Dead right.. it's like Harris Scarf / Kathmandu.. Price it sky high to discount it by 50%+.

Was never meant to sell at full whack and even on sale at 50% off they're still making 25% profit.

                • @[Deactivated]: I would expect even greater margin on foam only mattresses. Foam is a cheaper material compared to titanium steel inner springs.

                  • @MuddyClear: Considering as it's Chinese foam, yes.

But good quality foam is super expensive!!! Dunlop foam is really expensive, comes with a 10-15 year warranty though. They use this in top end furniture like couches. 1 seat cushion is around $150-250 alone.

A bed made in that would be around $4000+.

Dunlop has just started to make Bed in a box for companies, but not sure which ones are using them.

  • who?

  • I use this mattress - its really good and made in Germany - more firm and doesn't sag when I sit on the edge.

I used to use the ZZZ atelier black label (which also was great).

The company has massive communication problems - so make sure you start communicating with them on facebook and be patient.

They wont respond to emails and there's no phone number.

They have jacked up price from $799 to $849. Last time it was 21% off for $631. Now its 25% off for $~628.

    • Yeah I paid $631.

How are you finding it? Any good? Anyone able to compare it to koala or Eva on quality?

        • Both Eva and Emma scored top (1st) in CHOICE!. They were joint winners for 2020!

        • Well it took a few days for it to flatten out so we didn’t sleep on it for a bit. But it didn’t really smell which was good. Seems like decent quality for the price.

But it’s really quite firm. I don’t sink into it at all, it’s not my preference. It’s not so hard that it’s painful though. I slept on harder beds in China for sure. But it rates as a medium on some review sites, I reckon that’s too conservative.

    • Yep comes to $449.25 for king single.

  • Got mine delivered last week, it's on the firmer side but even as a side sleeper, it's comfortable.

  • ordered a king recently. Price at that time was 899 and used 21% offer. Personally found it rock hard, way too firm for us but know others like it this way. To be fair it’s a well made foam mattress if you like it on the firm side and was delivered quickly.

However if you have any issues the communication is really poor, We are still waiting for refund under 100 night guarantee, mattress was picked up a few weeks ago and still nothing… Emails go unanswered

      Emails go unanswered

That sounds frustrating because I sent them a few emails pre-purchase and they always replied within a day. Guess it might change post-sales.

  • Thanks, good deal on the king single for my son.

    • Been a week still no mattress or delivery tracking/dispatch. Just used their online form to contact them.
