  • Is there a cheap DP to HDMI adaptor that can handle 4K@60Hz? Intel's iGPU's can only output 4K@30Hz via HDMI but can do 4K@60Hz via DP so apparently you can output to the TV using an adaptor like this, but it needs to support 60Hz… And it looks like this one can't.

Short version - I have a HTPC and running at 4K@30Hz has a bit of jitter (frame rate issues) when watching videos, but running at 1080p@60Hz doesn't have the issue for me.

I purchased this one and using it for connecting my PC to TV. Works pretty well for playing all high end games without any jitters.

      • what does 4k*2k means on the adaptor

        • (Roughly) 4000 x (roughly) 2000 resolution.

  • I bought one of these from eBay for $5.80 delivered (from Australia). Maybe this one has better specs though? I couldn't get the one I bought to work when trying to connect my home PC to a 4K or 1080 TV, but it worked with a PC at work connected to a monitor.

  • Any idea if this will work for a HP laptop HDMI output to a AOC DP input monitor?

    • No, this is for DP to HDMI, not the other way around.

      • thanks - cant seem to find HDMI to DP options on Amazon - know if its possible?

        • +1

Yes they exist albeit more complicated than a dumb adaptor. Hdmi signals carry a "clock" with them, converting to dp needs an active adaptor.

Can't link Amazon for some reason.

          Search for "
Cable Matters HDMI to DisplayPort Adapter (HDMI to DP Adapter) with 4K Video Resolution Support" on Amazon.

  • I wonder if I can use this to get DP to HDMI, then a HDMI to DVI cable to the monitor? So that the adaptor is more future proof since DVI is pretty much dead already.
