Woolworths Metro more expensive?

I was just attempting to buy this at one of the Metro stores in the city and found that it's $20.90, which is about 10% more expensive.

Asked the checkout person and her reason was that Metro stores can't have the same price as supermarkets.

In your experience has Metro been more expensive?

Yes; they're like Woolies convenience stores. The specials are the same as the supermarkets though e.g. if a packet of Golden crumpets is $3.70 in a normal Woolies and $4 in a Metro Woolies, they'll be on special for $1.85 in both normal Woolies and Metro Woolies

    • Not always. I went to a woolies metro in feb in Melbourne cbd for a sim card from the catalogue but that store didn’t use the catalogue, they had their own condensed version - about half the normal catalogue.

I guess the specials only apply to food items

  • Woolworths Metro more expensive?

Yep, always been like that. The are in convent locations so have a 'convenience' tax applied.

Those nuns love themselves some fresh food people.

      • hahaha yes those nuns know how to charge indeed! :)

Think of it as a alter boy 'tax' then!

Not necessarily more expensive across the board, but don't be surprised to pay a little extra on many (if not most) items.
