  • I’m just wondering what the deal is in regards to actual savings… see these deals a lot but I always assumed it’s like filler stuff being added in to jack up the apparent value.
If you were to buy the pi alone how much extra would this stuff actually cost you?

      • +1

So call that $90 (inc shipping), + say $10 for the MicroSD card and ??? for the case and fan? Am I missing anything?

        • +1

          A 5v 3a power supply as well.

I also just want power supply (I don’t have any 3a at home) and Pi as I can just 3d print the case and plenty of sd cards.

        • That’s more or less my angle here… it just feels like buying popcorn at the cinema.

  • +2

I would call this hunger marketing feeding on FOMO. If you look at the frequency of this deal, it happens every week or every other week with limited stock.

I bought from this deal https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/563345 a few weeks ago from labists.com. It never came, not replying email or giving update. I have to resort to facebook message to get an answer. Turns out they are out of stock, while they are still selling the kit on their website. I don't know if Globmall is affiliate with them, but I won't support their product.

    • Thanks for the feedback. I wasn't aware of Globmall/Labists stock issues.

I had ordered 2 of these from them, one pre-covid (around $140), and one early-covid (around $150) - both didn't have any delays in stock/shipping.

      • No worries. I don't know if they have stock issue with 4GB version though. The deal I referred to was for 8GB. They probably have enough 4GB because nobody was complaining about 4GB deals on Amazon.

    • I had the same issue but they did reply back to a message I sent them about two weeks ago, stating they expect to have stock at the end of this month and to expect it about a week after or so.

  • It’s this price every other week. This should be RRP and it’s a fake sale now.

    • In principle I agree with you.

In my case though, I wish I had of known about this deal earlier, as it would have saved me ordering essentially the same deal at the same price, through AliExpress… where it took 89 days to deliver!

So there is still some value in the post. But perhaps not every single week.

  • I want to get one of these to use for all my TV and streaming services and emulation, whats the difficulty like in putting an OS like W10 on this? Or would it be easier and better with an Android OS?

    • Win 10 not really suited for it, these are low powered devices.

You can run Kodi on it though.

    • Kodi + TVHeadend which are Linux based.
