Looking to Replace My Laptop - Is This Legion a Good Deal?

I'm looking for a (replacement) machine … my poor old Acer is slow, laggy, and can't run zoom / similar efficiently.

I'm looking for something that is fast, will allow me to edit video, and will last me for .. I dunno, 4 years or so?

Lenovo have, at their Education store, a Legion 5 15 inch unit for $1529 (webprice is supposedly $2199 - but I have no idea how accurate that is…)

The specs are these …

Processor: AMD Ryzen 7 4800H (8C / 16T, 2.9 / 4.2GHz, 4MB L2 / 8MB L3)
Operating System: Windows 10 Home 64
Display Type: 15.6" FHD (1920x1080) WVA 300nits Anti-glare, 60Hz, 100% sRGB Gamut
Memory: 2x 8GB SO-DIMM DDR4-3200
Hard Drive: 256GB SSD M.2 2280 PCIe NVMe + 1TB HDD 5400rpm 2.5"
Warranty: 1 Year Depot
AC Adapter: 170W Slim Tip
Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 Ti 4GB GDDR6
Second Hard Drive: None
Battery: Integrated 60Wh
Camera: 720p
Fingerprint Reader: No Fingerprint Reader
Keyboard: 4-Zone RGB LED backlight, English
Wireless: 11ax, 2x2 + BT5.0

I can justify $1500 - but that will be the most I've ever paid for a laptop, so I want to know is ths good 'bang for the buck'>

Can anyone help?

Cheers

  • I'm looking at the same laptop.

Its a good deal, but I'm hoping there is some kind of additional promotion, which is why I'm waiting.

I don't think cashback works for it either.

    • Sometimes discounts via Unidays or StudentBeans or StudentEdge…

      • Unidays had 5% off a few days ago, but it didn't work for some reason.

If you don't mind the weight and you don't need to travel a lot with it then the performance and such is very good. It'll handle your editing needs. Though it is a fairly heavy and chunky laptop. It works well as an everyday machine. Screen is around average in brightness and 100% sRGB Gamut is welcomed for any editing work.

Overall, not too bad I reckon.
