    Crazy deal

  • You can get at $650 with. Coupon SUPER7. it was for 699 at UNIDAYS few days ago and when stacked with 7% off coupon approx you can get at $650.

    • $699.37 with both coupons

      • +1

I noticed Dell has taken coupon off from UNIDAYS. 2 days ago same laptop was for $650 using 2 coupons.

    • The unidays coupon was for $500 off rrp($1199) bringing it down to $699. That coupon has since expired and this is the cheapest current price! ^^

      • +2

For the sake of 38 cents you're willing to try and justify making us pay more than a unidays promo!?!? Shame on you. ;)

        • haha, 37 cents ;)

        • He's saying that it's about $650 when you stack both codes

          • @ln28909: ah got it, thanks. Yeh no longer possible. :(

  • I don't get it, does it have a USB C port or not?

    • No, it's stated as spec in case you get discrete graphics model. I'll update post to reflect this!

      • +1

I wondered if you still got one but it just can't pass video without a discrete video card

    • well i didnt wanna say its not a good deal because people tend to neg vote here a lot for some reason, this is an old laptop as you can see it even has usb 2.0 ports. old laptop with a few upgrades being sold at this price.

      • +1

It is not an old laptop. It has a 10th gen Intel processor which was only realised about 4-6 months ago.

        • Yes I am aware of that. But that’s the upgrade I’m talking about. Old motherboard with a few upgrades.

          • @behindmyego: I haven't cross checked what motherboard it's running. It can't be very old to run the latest Intel series CPU. I just wanted to point out your comment is misleading. It has the latest gen CPU, it has 2666mhz ram which denotes a recent motherboard too. You made it sound like it's using outdated parts, when in:fact it's the complete opposite, and is using very recently developed parts.

  • +2

Definitely a new price benchmark for the specs.
    Well done LiMaaa.
    Thank you.

  • Gaming ok?

Can it play the latest games?

    • +4

Not really for games since "Intel® UHD Graphics with shared graphics memory"

    • +2

      Gaming ok?

Depends, you can run less demanding games on low/medium settings.

Can it play the latest games?

Absolutely not. You're better off looking for a gaming laptop with a GTX 1650 Ti at least (although I'd be looking for a laptop with an RTX card to run latest games).

      • Only can afford $1000 nothing more though…….

        • +2

So you want a Ferrari but only want to spend Commodore money? Good luck with that…

        • Then you need to go for a low-mid tier desktop build. You aren't going to get a laptop with that sort of power for under $1k. Looking at more like $2k for a laptop that can run intensive games relatively well.

        • If you really want one you can build one for not more than $1000. But it’d be a desktop. Also you can use your tv until you get more money for a gaming monitor.

      • Meh, at this price range a GTX 1650 Ti shouldn't even be discussed…

A more reasonable option would be an additional option for ~$150 to add an MX250 (Pretty decent card which will significantly increase gaming potential)

    • +1

Actually this has improved graphics over the Intel UHD 620 graphics. As far as I'm aware whilst it's not ideal for AAA gaming, it plays league of legends, team fortress 2, csgo and mid tier games quite well.

Intel Core i5-1035G1 features new and improved Intel UHD integrated graphics with 32 cores instead of the older Intel UHD 620 series with 24. And, the new chip provides support for faster system memory (RAM

      • +2

Please bring out a gaming laptop!!!!!!

      • How much shared memory can be allocated to the integrated graphics?

    • +2

      Try Flight sim

      • I've already tried on UHD 620 before

        hehe oof 11fps min graphics

  • +1

Very attractive deal for students as general use….should be able to cover most tasks
more fan of XPS series :)

  • Any deals for the 4800H Ryzen G5 laptops?

    • No ryzen deals planned as of yet.

      • Have you got an XPS 13 deal coming up?

        • yeah not into 15s

they have some 14s i'd be into but mainly mid spec i5s

    • +1

Yep, bought one. 2 day shipping.

      FAST laptop.

      • Me wantie! Dreaming to think this might drop below $1500 sometime soon?

        • It was about $1500 during the Dell 20% Off sale on eBay last month. Hold out for the next sale, it's in with a chance of going below $1500 if our dollar holds up.

          edit: below $1500

Actually 100% of them will help you achieve that, it's just a matter ultimately of the dose.

  • +3

Im getting a feeling now whosoever browsing ozb by using laptop would only use Dell and IBM now…

    • +3

True, Dell laptop is quite good overall

    • +9

That’s only because the Lenovo buyers are still waiting for “ships in 8 weeks” deliveries to turn up two months later

  • should i get this or a macbook?

    • +3

Do u want a Toyota or BMW?

      • Does it come from China or Russia?

    • +2

Macbook of course. Must buy the logo for $1200.

Jokes aside, with Mac moving to Arm based CPUs, you might want to think twice before investing in Macbook Pros now, unless you need to use Mac applications right now or you currently have only Apple devices at home.

    • +1

      Wait for the new macs

  • Is there something for the Inspiron 15 5000 Ryzen 7 version??

    • Nope and likely won't have ryzen deals anytime soon.

  • +2

You are the BEST LiMaaa !!!

    • +1

      No you! ^^

  • +3

Don't need an another laptop, Don't need an another laptop, Don't need an another lap top

    • +16

Stop being so selfish and think if this laptop needs you ;)

  • Hi do u have any coupon for dell d6000 docking station
Use to shout $189 mark and now it is over $400

    • I do not sorry.

    • -1

People still use dicking stations? Is this 2015?

      • +2

Dicking stations? Not sure what you're into there. Docking stations are still used - USB-C are still very popular and I can't think of anything better that's replaced them?

        • -1

With USB-C handling power, video, audio, I/O pretty much everything, what purpose does a dock serve?

          • @1st-Amendment: Because modern docking stations use USB-C? They don't have to clip in like the old HP models. They can use USB 3.0 or USB-C. The Dell D6000 being one such example of a USB-C dock.

            • -1

@Clear: You didn't answer the question. If you have USB-C on everything, why do you need a dock?
To give you an example, I have a USB-C monitor which has everything plugged into it. When I connect my laptop via USB-C to the monitor, I get everything immediately, no dock required. So what purpose would a dock serve since the Monitor is effectively performing this job, with one less box on my desk and one less thing plugged in?

              • @1st-Amendment: But what if you don't have a USB-C monitor? How do you plug a HDMI/VGA/DVI/DP monitor into your laptop? You use a dock. Now the term dock is interchangeable and can be used to mean a USB-C hub with HDMI, USB ports etc etc.

                • -2

                  @Clear:

But what if you don't have a USB-C monitor

As I said, is this 2015?

                  • @1st-Amendment: Now that's just trolling.

                    • -2

@Clear: Spending $250 (RRP on the aforementioned D6000) on obsolete technology seems like trolling to me. But then you also mentioned VGA, so who's the troll here?

                      • @1st-Amendment: Clearly don't know that monitors with such connections including HDMI, DVI and DP are still manufactured. Production did not cease in 2015 nor 2020.

                        • @Clear: You can still send faxes and ride horses too. Depends whether you're a person that likes to take advantage of new technology or not. You've made your position clear.

                          • @1st-Amendment: It's called eFax. Fax to email.

                            • @Clear: Nope, good old analog fax to fax is still at thing. And just because it exists doesn't mean you should be proud that you still waste money on it.

                              • @1st-Amendment: I never said it didn't exist. The old fashioned fax is being superseded by eFax in the industries that use them the most - healthcare.

                                • @Clear: Lol… you aren't living on 2015, you're living in 2003…

                                  • @1st-Amendment: Fax to email is 2003? Okay so what's the 2020 solution?

                                    • @Clear: Have you heard of the Internet? Notice how we are communicating right now? Not a single fax was used….

                                      • @1st-Amendment: Internet? What is this 1983?

                                        • @Clear: So you've heard of it. Now explain why you think you still need a fax machine?

                                          • @1st-Amendment: You don't. It's called email to fax. You go to every hosptial and medical centre and ask them.

                                            • @Clear: You haven't really thought this through have you. If you email to a fax machine, you still need a fax machine…

                                              • @1st-Amendment: Thats not how it works sunshine. Email to fax eliminates the need for a fax machine. You go send an email to [email protected] and the other end will either receive it at their fax machine if they're a boomer or they'll receive it in their email if they're also using email to fax

                                                • -1

                                                  @Clear:

the other end will either receive it at their fax machine

                                                  …<facepalm>…

  • Sorry to be 'that guy' but any recommendations for a all in one desktop for mum, she wants to do digital scrap-booking in it apparently and I have no clue.

    • -2

Why not get this laptop and connect it to a monitor?

  • +14

    what can I say
    - no keyboard backlight
    - 220nit TN panel with 45% NTSC colour coverage

    TN in 2020 come on
    this is rubbish

    • +1

I personally do require a laptop with backlit keyboard and don't understand why it isn't a priority for all manufacturers to include.

I was curious about this so I searched over a month of latest laptop deals @ ozb and found none with an IPS screen in this price range. In fact most of the competitive deals have come from Dell and the closest was @ almost $1000 on deal for the feature of IPS. Correct me if I'm wrong but that's what I noticed!

      • -5

it's not really a feature, my friend, it shouldn't even be optional. TN shouldn't exist in consumer laptops in 2020, there's zero reason to have it
        it's just money thrown away
laptop after all is first and most the screen, because whatever you do you look at it
and if it's a low quality TN that'll just ruin the whole experience

here, this one comes down to $789 with SUPER7 code without any fancy deals, has same CPU and IPS screen:
        https://www.dell.com/en-au/work/shop/business-laptops-ultrab…

also in stock for fast delivery

        https://www.dell.com/en-au/work/shop/business-laptops-ultrab…

same but with SSD a few dollars more expensive.

I understand you're in cahoots with Dell but could you be more discerning what you're selling jeez

        • +1

I didn't neg you, but nether options you listed have IPS screens that I could see? Aren't they both VA?

And I would rather have a TN screen than one with a HDD like your first option. Yuck. I think SDDs shouldn't be optional rather than IPS screens. Each screen type has its strong points in my opinion. A computer with a HDD boot drive shouldn't exist.

          • @exile: second one is ssd
and it's much easier to upgrade hdd -> ssd than to upgrade TN -> IPS

            https://topics-cdn.dell.com/pdf/inspiron-14-3493-laptop_refe…

see for yourself, Full HD option is IPS for this model

            • +2

@shabaka: its a $700 laptop with an i5 fhd and a half gb nvme ssd

you're not going to get everything in a base inspiron

its 2.2kg which is something from 10yrs ago

if it doesnt suit dont buy it

for many who use this as a dtr or kids laptop they wont care about TN and colour accuracy

              • +1

@tonyjzx: and? I am saying this is money wasted. add a bit more and get a serviceable machine.

you can put in more ram and larger ssd easily, and these things are getting cheaper quick

upgrading the screen is something an average Joe won't be able to do

so a laptop with an IPS panel for a $100 more is a no brainer for me. who cares about colour accuracy at this point, think about viewing angles and contrast. no one should struggle to read things off a laptop screen in 2020

try selling a mobile phone with a TN panel today haha

                • @shabaka: You keep saying you can upgrade and whatnot. The laptops you listed. To upgrade the HDD and ram, the total cost of the laptop will still come to over $1k.

You are not going to find a laptop under $700 with the same specs as the one OP listed.

            • @shabaka: Oh Ok, thanks for clarifying, that Dell listing is not very clear, Thought the WVA part suggested it was a VA panel.

True about the panel upgrade vs SSD.

              • @exile: the thing is a lot of things are 'options' inc. the gpu but that's not an option on this deal given these are not BTO like Lenovo… you either buy this fixed spec or not

none of the wait of lenovo either

      • +1

        The panel is unbearable.
I had to tilt my head to read it properly.

  • anyone know what the battery life would be like on this?

    • No idea, but battery is 3-Cell, 42 WHr, Integrated battery.
      .

    • +1

      Between 69 and 420 minutes

  • +2

    Now… I am hoping a 16/512 with 1650 at 1k mark soon.

  • A bit of a beginner question, but can this laptop run this 34" monitor ultra wide at full resolution? As dual screen or just single screen? Tried it with an old laptop and can't get full res. https://www.samsung.com/au/support/model/LS34E790CNS/XY/

Also, is there any deal for an ok gaming laptop with 16GB RAM and GTX 1650?

    Thanks
