    Refurb Business grade laptop.

I like Dell Latitudes, the 7440 or 7450 would fit your price
Well built and decent features, heaps of parts available and we already own a couple of Dells and therefore have power supplies readily to hand around the place.

Some like Lenovo's x250 series (or better)
I'm not sure what HP call their business grade systems?

You're going to want 8Gb RAM, 4Gb is insufficient, so add that to your required list
and I'd add a 1080p screen as a required specification too.

    • I've had a bad run with refurb PC's over the years so I'd rather avoid them.

But thankyou for the effort in your reply :)

      • Have your bad experiences been with Business grade machines?
They are sturdily built and most are used as desktop replacements, so have had an easy life.
There is a risk of course, but far lower than for consumer grade machines with "built to a price-point" build quality.

      • Honestly, it depends where you get your refurb devices from… I had completely forgotten that I bought a refurb X1 Carbon until a few weeks ago when I went back and saw the listing I purchased it from… It's been 2.5 years and I haven't had one issue with this device

It's quite simple… If you buy from a reputable source, you'll get reliable devices :)

  • How about this?
    https://www.amazon.com.au/Acer-Display-Graphics-Keyboard-A51…

Only 4GB RAM but it's upgradable.

I wouldn't bother with refurb/second hand at the moment. Prices seem unreasonable considering what you can get new for slightly more.

    • I did see that however I can't wait that long for delivery, my 2015 $350 HP special is on death's door.

  • A used Dell Vostro if you can find one at that price. Install a ssd yourself if it does not have one, easy to do.
