Message:

Dear associate,
The bank of directors mandated me to look for any known relation of our
late client who deposited a enormous amount of money in our bank without
claim; I don’t want this money to go into our treasury as unclaimed
bills, the banking law and guidelines here stipulate that if such money
remains unclaimed after eight years, I am authorized to preparing
documents officially to prove that this money have been transferred to out
treasure, this will be between me and you, the request of foreigner is
occasioned by the fact the depositor was a foreigner, In appreciation of
your assistance, I request you send to me your direct phone number for easy
communication, and reply me through my private email
addresses([email protected] or [email protected] for more
confidentiality, waiting to read from you soon,
Thanks,
Barrister Daniel Owokofi

I'm betting quite a few people are getting this. Is there any way to fix this?

  • yeah got it too

Is there any way to fix this?

    Ban the user

  • I got it too just then, have reported to the mods/admins too (as I'm sure you guys already have)

  • +1

Looks like we'll need to put in more check around the contact pages between users to keep newly registered overseas spammers out.

  • For now I am simply blocking the overseas users (i.e. those do not come from Australia IP address blocks) from using contact form to contact other users. However those can be overridden on per-account level so if you are on overseas IP block (from some corporate internal network for example) and wish to contact other users, please contact me or the moderators to have you unblocked.

  • LOL, we actually get ones in the post (snail mail!) all the way from Ireland lawyers stating we have inherited a bucket load of cash. They even use stamps ie. waste actual money trying to legitimise the scam.
