Any issue signing up for 2 phone plans in a short period of time?

Recently took up the Ozbargain s20+ deal (i.e. buying the phone for $200 on a 99$ per month 12 month plan then cancelling it on day one and paying out early termination fee of $594) approx 3 weeks ago.

Recently saw the Z Fold 2 Deal - $2000 up front and 12 month $99 dollar plan. I'm interested in getting this and keeping the plan instead of cancelling.

Do you think there would be any issue doing this?
E.g. 2nd credit check in such a short period.
E.g. JB HI FI staff being difficult?

  • if they ask just say you need a second line for work. And shouldn't matter what you say, a computer decides these things anyway.

        • JSYSK, bragging about your side girl's being family and friends isn't really bragging.

  • AFAIK, your previously cancelled plans may appear on jbhifis screen when they enter your details. If they believe your are dodgy (most likely will cancel again), they may refuse to sign you up.

      Unless there's some automated system check, I highly doubt the average JB Hifi sales staff will give a damn. They'll just be happy to collect their commission on another sale.

  • You can get as many as you like and as many as your credit allows, why would they complain about you taking on more debt? They make money

    • because you may not be able to pay it back

    • Because like some commission based sales, Telstra may claw back commissions paid to JB if customer cancels contract within a certain time frame.

  • I remember when signing up to an iPad deal @ Telstra had some issues, as I had like 6-7 prepaid accounts to my name with them. After a credit check in store it was all fine.
