Sonos PLAY: 5 Wireless Speaker $545 + $14.95 Delivery (Free Pickup) @ Harvey Norman

120

With pick-up a whole $3 cheaper than the lowest price I could see on OzB to date ($548 on Amazon last November): https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/493432
Available in black or white.
Looks like a decent review here: https://www.whathifi.com/au/sonos/play5-2015/review
Rated 4.5/5 on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com.au/Sonos-Play-Ultimate-Wireless-Strea…
Likely reduced since the Play:5 has recently been replaced by the Sonos Five, which acc. to this seems pretty much identical: https://www.theverge.com/2020/5/6/21248545/sonos-five-speake…

      Should've gone to Specsavers

Please note, this is the older model, the new one just called Sonos Five NOT Play:5

This looks like the Play:5 gen 2, not 1, which means it should still be supported by S2 & further updates: https://support.sonos.com/s/article/4786

    • The actual speaker on inside is the same. There's no difference between the Play:5 and the new Five, they sound the same.

I think they added more memory or something like that to the Five, but it was mainly a re-branding.

  • After watching prices for almost a year, I finally got one yesterday with the $50 off Latitude pay deal = $495. Don’t think it will get much cheaper unless some absolute crazy clearance prices once stock gets very low. Amazon, JB/TGG no longer stock this gen 2.

Don’t forget to stack with 5% off discount card from suncorp, if you can get one = $518

As a Sonos dealer, I couldn't sell at this price. I believe this must be a warehouse clear out. Nice find.

Stay away from Sonos! Their app sucks even you only use one music service.

    • No issues here at all.

Your mileage will always vary depends on phone, OS and internet connection. The last one being shit thanks to the libs… sigh

Everyone is correct: the app sucks. But it is still useable.
It used to be easier to use few years ago. They did a couple of major redesigns chasing "clean flat look" which reduced usability a lot.
      It is still Ok.

      • Yeh they replaced actual words on bottom nav with symbols only. They think everyone will know and remember what the symbols mean, but they are wrong.

People asked for a dark mode, but they denied that.. and all you see is a blinding white app, which sucks to use at night.

To find the EQ, you must deep-dive into system settings, just to alter bass. It should be a shortcut from the play screen.

We suffer the stupid app because the speaker sounds good. Two Play:5's in stereo, each on stands, is an excellent sound.

  • This is a great speaker that can rock a pretty large room, has amazing bass for its size. Great example of computational audio.

    Great value at this price.

I have a pair and they are AMAZING!! You can pair them up in stereo or as standalones.

Great range, good amount of punch, clarity and just a joy to use. I don't work for them, just happy to share my positive experience.

At this price it's a steal 👌.. You might be able to get JB to PM and use GC to get another 5% on top.

Yes they are not the latest generation (gen 2), but bang for buck you cant go wrong.

  • Thanks, picked up two white to go as rears in my Arc + Sub Home Theater setup

They only had 1 black in stock.

    • wow, nice setup, lucky you!
